Coming out of the store, her face twisted in annoyance as she spotted the jerk from earlier the same guy who had bumped into her and walked past without a single apology. He side-eyed her and kept walking like nothing happened. She clenched her fists. She was this close to giving him the torture of his life, but she held herself back.
Today was supposed to be beautiful. She had finally made time for herself after weeks of nonstop designing, and there was no way she was going to let some untrained jerk ruin it.
She thought about confronting him, giving him a piece of her mind but quickly decided he wasn't worth it. No. She'd get revenge instead.
He was standing near his car, phone to his ear, completely unaware. Lucky for her, her car was parked just beside his, which made her plan way too easy. Casually, she carried her stuff to her car, watching him from the corner of her eye to make sure he was still on the call. She tried her best to look natural, hiding the petty glee bubbling inside her.
After loading everything into the car, she walked back toward the store entrance, turned around like she'd forgotten something, and made her way back to her car but this time, she approached from his side.
She slowed down, positioning herself perfectly, timing it just right… and then.
Stomp.
Her foot landed directly on his shoe hard enough to crush his toes. He let out a loud, surprised scream that brought a dangerous level of satisfaction to her ears.
Before he could hang up or demand an explanation, she jumped into her car and sped off.
"Now you know how it feels to walk away after bumping into someone," she muttered to herself with a smug chuckle. Even though a small voice in the back of her mind whispered she was being a little petty, she allowed the thought to stay, a wicked smirk settling on her lips.
On her way home, her phone rang. Abby.
"Hi girl! Where are you? Aren't you coming with us to the club tonight? Don't tell me you're bailing on me again!"
She sighed. Abby was at it again.
"I'm too tired, and I don't feel like going out tonight," she said. "You know I've been working nonstop on my designs for weeks. Can't I just rest for one night?"
"That's exactly why you need to come out tonight to have fun!" Abby argued. "Let loose a bit! And don't forget you promised!"
She groaned. She shouldn't have made that promise. She only said it to get Abby off her back. And of course, Abby was using it as a weapon.
"I don't even know why I promised".
"You don't have to worry, the place isn't even that crowded," Abby interrupted. "It's a new spot and I want us to go together. Plus… there will be lots of eye candy!"
She rolled her eyes. Classic Abby. And even though she couldn't see her best friend's face, she was sure Abby was pulling that annoying puppy dog look.
Before she could even say no, Abby was at it again.
"I swear, you might just find the one tonight. You've been single for so long I thought you were about to become a nun. I'm glad you chose designing instead."
"Fine!" she cut in quickly before Abby could drag her love life any further. "I'll go with you. But just this once. Pick me up at eight. And leave my love life out of this."
She ended the call with a sigh, then turned up the music as she drove home. The memory of her sweet little revenge earlier still played in her head and with it, a smile slowly crept back onto her face.
