Chapter 20 - The Star and The Sun

Finally, Miwa and Wukong gets some time to talk it out, kind of.

__________________________________________________________

*Miwa's apartment.*

Miwa was laying on her couch, letting out a long frustrated sigh. One of her tails was holding her new phone, she had been able to steal from a phone store, a few weeks ago.

"I know I promised Mk, that I would go and see dad and hear him out. But I really don't wanna talk nor even see him, why does my parents have to be so complicated." Miwa put her phone down on a table, and slowly sat up.

Miwa turned to look over at her windows, letting out another sigh. "But dad hasn't tried any way to contact me, besides that one time he impersonated Mk, and used his phone to call me."

Raising a hand, Miwa tried forming her weapon out from the shadows. But found it a little harder to do, as it broke and returned to the shadows. "Argh! I didn't have any problems, when I was fighting possessed DBK, but now I can hardly have it take a shape."

Miwa got up from the couch and went into the kitchen and over to a bowl of fruits, most being, of course, mangos. "The one time I could really use papa's help, and he isn't around." She picked up a mango and was about to take a bite, but stopped in mid-motion. She took another look at the mango, thinking for a moment. "... I don't know if he can help with this, but I guess it would at least give me another reason to see dad."

Putting the mango back in the bowl with the other fruits, she started forming a shadow portal, but then felt a sharp headache, Stopping what she was doing and had her hands grab her head in pain.

Miwa almost fell over from the headache, but tried leaning against a counter. Her eyes flashing between gold and red, and then back to normal.

"..... They.....ruined everything... S-Sun Wukong....the Jade Emperor!" Miwa was holding her head in pain, red eyes glowing bright in anger. "Can't have _____ returning! Don't wanna _____, my _____ was meant to be locked away! Lady Bone Demon is gonna ruin everything!"

Miwa tried hitting her head, growling in pain. "Must not return.... But....." Her eyes slowly returned to normal as the pain went away. She rubbed her head slightly with a heavy sigh. "I should go and see dad, while the sun is still up. But I should maybe bring something with me."

With no recollection of what had just happened a few minutes ago, Miwa portaled to a grocery store by the snack area. Taking a brief look to make sure it was clear, she went and grabbed three bags of chips. One being, of course, peach flavored. The second being mango flavored, and the third being a very spicy flavored.

Taking the bag of chips into the shadows, Miwa then portaled to flower fruit mountain.

*At Flower Fruit Mountain.*

Miwa moved around in the shadows, watching closely the monkeys, as she tried to find Wukong somewhere. "That lazy old baboon is probably in his cabin." She arrived inside the cabin, still in the shadows. And she was right, laying on the couch watching TV, was Wukong. Though it didn't seem like he was paying much attention to what was going on the TV.

"I didn't think it was possible for you to be this depressed, might as well add some stupid peach ice cream while watching whatever." said Miwa coming out of the shadows, and was leaning over the couch. Catching Wukong by surprise as he fell off the couch and down on the floor, before quickly getting back up.

Wukong thought for a second it was Macaque pulling one of his old pranks on him, but was surprised to see that it was instead Miwa. "Freckles, well, this is a surprise. I didn't even notice you arriving." He said with a slight smile.

Miwa rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "Don't think I've forgiven you for what you did, I only came because Mk asked me to."

Wukong dropped his smile and let out a sigh, scratching the back of his head. "Listen, Freckles, it's very complicated to explain. But I promise I have a good reason."

"Then maybe try and make it not so complicated; otherwise I'm leaving. Because I don't like people betraying my trust, mostly of those close to me." said Miwa narrowing her eyes at him.

"Fine, fine. Take a seat and I'll start explaining." Wukong sat back on the couch, but made sure there was space for her too.

Miwa let out a frustrated sigh but did take a seat on the couch. "I gave papa a chance, against my own will. But I might as well do it with dad. Doesn't mean I'm forgiving either of them."

"I see your face has changed a bit, since I last saw you. But I'll still love you whatever you look like a human or a monkey." said Wukong with a soft smile, going on to pat her head. However, she simply slapped it away.

"Dad, stop changing the subject and start explaining already." Miwa leaned slightly further away from him. Tails wagging in annoyance, along with her right eye twitching.

Wukong took notice of her growing annoyance and let out a sigh. "Right, sorry." He cleared his throat and got back to the subject at hand. "So it all started after we lost in the war to take over the celestial realm and I got stuck under a mountain–"

"I'm surprised all it took to stop you were a fucking mountain, and then later having what I would call a collar, keeping you in check." Miwa commented, only to get hit in the head. "Ow!"

"I told you, no swearing. Also, don't cut me off as I'm explaining here. That's very rude." Wukong pointed a warning finger at her.

Miwa let out an annoyed huff, crossing her arms. But stayed quiet and just listened.

Wukong went on to explain from his point of view, of how him and Macaque broke up after a huge argument while he was stuck under a mountain. While Macaque was still free and didn't do anything to help him.

Miwa listened closely, not saying a word. But something about this didn't feel right, and she thought she might ask Macaque his side of this whenever he shows back up again.

"After having that huge fight, I let him go, but I told him that if he ever tried to hurt my master again. I wouldn't show any mercy." said Wukong with a slight shrug along with a huff.

".... You've gotta be kidding me." Miwa narrowed her eyes and got up from the couch. "I can't believe, after telling me all of this, you still aren't telling me the whole truth!"

Wukong raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms. "What are you talking about? I told you the whole truth, what about it could I've lied about?"

"Unlike you, papa, at least told me the truth!" Miwa glared at him, tails lashing out in anger. "You didn't let him go, you fucking killed him!"

Wukong let out a painful wince, he couldn't believe Macaque actually told her that. He opened his mouth to speak, but Miwa wasn't having it one bit.

"No! I don't wanna hear a word out of you!" Miwa shouted as she got surrounded by a cosmic energy. "How can I trust anything you say, when you can't even explain what happened between you two, without needing to lie about what really happened!"

Wukong got up from the couch and tried reaching out a hand, but stopped midway and let it slide back to his side. Seeing where she was coming from, and couldn't really blame her for being mad.

"You're right, I should have been more honest. But how do I explain to my own kid that I killed their other parent, I couldn't see any good way in telling you. Without you getting more upset." said Wukong with a sad sigh. "I just got you back, Miwa, I didn't want to lose you again. Not like this."

Miwa was still very upset about both of her parents, but she couldn't hold back the tears that were now running down her face. "If you want me to trust you ever again, then you need to be more honest with me. Otherwise, you shouldn't have made that wish in the first place."

Wukong slowly took a step forward, and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a hug. "I promise to be more honest with you, Miwa." He gently patted her head while holding her close, though what she said next made him raise a questionable eyebrow. "What do you mean, wish? I didn't make a wish."

Miwa didn't answer him, but instead just wrapped her arms around him. Letting her head rest against his chest.

Wukong let out a sigh, shaking his head. But was just glad that she was giving him a second chance. "She really takes after me and Macaque, though, who she takes most after. I'm not sure."

Miwa pulled away from the hug and rubbed her tears away. "Don't think I'm still forgiving you, nor papa, after all of this mess. I'm still mad you both didn't tell me anything." She crossed her arms with a huff.

"Now, don't put the blame all on us." Wukong lightly poked her forehead. "You could have said something, at any time, about either of us. Yet, you didn't."

"Jeez, both of them are so alike sometimes." Miwa thought with a bored expression. "Well, I didn't know your relationship was this extremely bad, and papa had told me not to mention anything about him."

Wukong let out an annoyed groan. "Of course he told you that, I can't stand that guy. Nothing but a coward, that uses cheap tricks." He crossed his arms while rolling his eyes.

Suddenly, they heard the voice of someone shouting through the cave.

"Monkey King! I'm ready for some training! Pigsy had to close early since he needed to go, and buy some more ingredients!" Mk had entered the cave and was almost at the cabin.

Miwa and Wukong took a glance at each other. "What do you say, Sunny? Up for some training? It's already been weeks since we had any."

"Sure" said Miwa giving a small shrug. "I do need some more training on summoning my weapon from the shadows."

"I think you're spending too much time with Macaque." Wukong commented and began walking out of the cabin, with her following right after him.

"I'm spending as much time with him, as I do with you, dad. You're probably just jealous, that I got more similar powers to papa." said Miwa, only to be tripped over by Wukong's tail.

"Me jealous of him? Please, he isn't even worth my time, let alone attention." Wukong rolled his eyes before growing a smile as Mk showed up. "Hey, bud! Ready for some training?"

Miwa got up from the ground with a huff, patting some dirt off her pants. "Why does both of my parents have to be so petty with each other."

"Oh, I'm all pumped up for some training!" said Mk all excited. "Lulu, you're here too?! Great! Does that mean you two are all good again?"

"Lulu?" Wukong raised an eyebrow, glancing over at Miwa.

A small blush grew on Miwa's face but tried acting normal. "I guess we are somewhat good, but it's gonna take some time for me to fully trust him again." She took a small notice of the smirk on Wukong's face, but tried to ignore it.

"Anyway, enough standing around here. Let's get down to training." said Wukong and began leading them outside for some more space for their training.

Miwa slightly rolled her eyes, but a small smile appeared on her face as she started following. "If dad wasn't the one who made the wish, then it must have been papa. But does he know I was the wish he asked for the Wishing Stars to grant.....or did he, just like dad. Just see it as a coincidence and didn't question it?"

*A few hours later.*

Mk was laying on the ground, breathing heavily, completely exhausted from all the training.

"You did great, bud! You're getting better already." said Wukong leaning over Mk with a big smile. "Though, your footing still needs some work, along with trying not to leave so many openings."

Just then, Wukong quickly dodged the head of a spear coming down at him from behind. Turning his head to give a smug grin at Miwa, holding her shadow spear that she still struggled keeping its shape.

"Nice try, Freckles, but don't think I'm gonna make it that easy for you." Wukong kept dodging her spear from hitting him, which only pissed her off even more.

Miwa had her spear get surrounded by cosmic energy, and began spinning her spear before aiming it down at him, only for it to lose its shape and got back to the shadows. "Argh! Seriously, again?!" She let herself fall down on the ground, letting out a frustrated huff.

"You're putting too much focus when trying to keep the weapon in that shape. Without it going back to the shadows, but sadly, I don't know much about shadow powers. That was more his thing, than mine." Wukong crossed his arms, looking down at Miwa.

"Wow, my dad, the Monkey King. Also known as the Great Sage Equal To Heaven, Sun Wukong doesn't know anything about shadow powers. What a disappointment." said Miwa with full sarcasm, which earned her a smack in the face by Wukong's tail.

"Don't give me that kind of attitude, missy." Wukong narrowed his eyes at her, daring her to say something.

Miwa simply rolled her eyes at him, crossing her arms as she slowly sat up. "Great, dad can't help me with this, and papa is gone for who knowns how long. Looks like I have to train myself without anyone else's help."

"I still can't get over you two are related." said Mk, gaining the two's attention. Causing him to panic and raise his hands in defense. "I don't mean it in a bad way, I'm just not used to seeing you two act like this with each other."

Miwa and Wukong looked over at each other, both raising an eyebrow, before looking back at Mk. "I guess it is a bit of a surprise to know I have a kid."

"It was a big surprise to Tang, the moment I told him and the rest. He just wouldn't stop asking all kinds of questions." Miwa rolled her eyes with a heavy sigh.

Mk gave an awkward laugh, scratching the back of his head. "Yeah, that isn't surprising. He is a big Monkey King fan."

"Another reason I don't like crazy fans of the Monkey King, they are such a pain in the ass." Miwa complained, earning a hit on the back of her head. "Ah!"

"Language." Wukong gave her a warning glare.

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever." Miwa reached a hand into the shadows and then pulled up two bags of chips, throwing the one with peach flavor over to Wukong that he easily caught.

"Sweet! Snack time!" said Mk excited to take a break and eat some snacks.

"When did you get this? And how can I be sure you aren't pulling another chip trick on me?" Wukong gave her a skeptical look.

"Geez, dad, I tricked you one time with a bag of chips, and now you don't trust me. Looks like papa isn't the only one with trust issues." said Miwa with a heavy sigh. She took the bag of chips from him, and gave them over to Mk. "You give it a taste and tell us what you think."

Mk looked at the two who were staring at him, and then down at the bag of chips. ".... Okay?" He opened the bag and took out one chip, eating it in one bite.

"Well? Is it peach flavored, or did my daughter switch it out with a spicy flavor?" Wukong questioned with a raised eyebrow.

Mk took a moment to chew on the chip before swallowing it, and gave Wukong a big smile. "It's completely safe! I can assure you that it's peach flavored!"

"Told you so." Miwa opened her bag of chips with mango flavor, and she began eating some of the chips.

"Can't hurt to be cautious, not after your little trick, Princess." Wukong took the bag of chips for Mk, but just as he did that. Miwa secretly used her shadow powers to switch the peach flavored chips, out with the spicy flavored chips.

"Well, who do you think I got my trickery from?" Miwa took a glance at him while eating a chips.

Wukong rolled his eyes, giving a smug smile, and took a bite of a chip. But the moment the chip got in his mouth, it took a few seconds before his face turned all red and let out a scream along with fire coming out of his mouth.

Miwa started bursting out laughing, watching his reaction to that spicy chip. "I can't believe you fell for it again! You must be getting rusty if I can get you a second time!"

"Oh, so that's how you wanna play it, little monkey? Alright, I guess it's time you learn another lesson." Wukong glared at her.

Miwa rolled her eyes with a laugh. "Only if you can catch me! Old timer!" She changed into a red hawk and started flying away.

"You're in for it now, missy!" Wukong changed into an eagle and began chasing Miwa around in the sky.

Mk picked up the bag of chips that should have had the peach flavor, he ate a chip and the result ended the same way as Wukong. With his face turning all red and letting out a scream with fire coming out of his mouth.

"How did she change the flavor of the chips?" Mk questioned confused, and decided to eat Miwa's mango flavored chips instead, while watching the two birds in the sky flying around. And by the sound of it, was laughing.
