Prologue:

He never believed in love at first sight. Not until the night Laiba Khan—soft-spoken, dutiful, already promised to another—stepped into his world with her hair slipping loose and her heart guarded by a thousand unbreakable rules. Zain Shah, a man forged in violence and silence, felt something fracture in him the instant their eyes met. But in a life ruled by blood and betrayal, nothing stays untouched for long. When his estranged father—a man who abandoned Zain and his mother to die—returns after fifteen years, he sees in Laiba not a daughter-in-law, but a perfect pawn. To keep Zain distracted, to bind him to a marriage he never asked for, to make him vulnerable while the old empire readies itself to export weaponry to enemies Zain has sworn to destroy. In one ruthless stroke, she is stolen away, and he is forced to marry the woman he would have burned the world to protect—only to realise too late that loving her might be the greatest danger of all.
