Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2: Reincarnated

LOCATION: Unknown

Cole's POV.

At this point, I didn't really know what to do or feel, it's like all this was a bad dream that I would wake up from, but then again everything seemed real.

And to be honest, I wasn't scared or confused like a normal dude would be.

Who am I kidding, I was terrified. Do you know how dying feels like? No? Well it's not good… at all. It's like eating a humbugger made from maize flour and a rotten rat, if that is even possible.

Like staring into the abyss, knowing it's about to swallow you whole.

Truth is, dying is terrifying as hell. Especially that little time as you see death coming to you with a smirk? Now that's a killer.

Anyway, the only weird thing right now is that the moment I realized I wasn't in hell, I was ecstatically happy. No remorse, no regrets, no nothing.

Why, you ask?

Well just because I had nothing left to live for in my previous boring life other than a few mangas and anime I'd already started to miss.

I don't know if this new world has the mangas and novels like my previous earth, or if it is some primitive world, or a cultivation world, or some other crazy reality.

But if the reincarnation novels have taught me anything, it's the fact that the system is always align with the world one is reincarnated in… well mostly.

So for me to figure out which kind of world I am in, and to get out of this damn forest, I need to know what kind of system I have. Plus it seems am receiving a beginner's gift.

[Ding]

[The Beginner's Gift is ready, does host wish to receive?]

"Oh hell yeah." I replied enthusiastically.

[Processing...…]

[Keep in mind that what you choose will determine the kind of system you get.]

And just like that, three cards that looked exactly the same appeared in front of me, and I had to choose just one.

"You gotta be kidding me," I cried out.

I mean I have always had bad luck, everyone knew that. From failing 8 job interviews, to being robbed every now and then, to some other weird shit, I knew my luck was abysmal.

And now you're telling me that I have to depend on that same shit luck for my future?

"Well screw it. Eeny meeny miny moe. Or was it…. Ah, never mind." And so just like that I chose the middle one.

[Congratulations host….]

[You have received Bloodshot v18….]

[Does host wish to proceed with the implant?]

"Whoa, Bloodshot v18?"

Now this was some serious shit. The dude in the movie had super strength, super speed, and some real ass regeneration, almost instant. The dude was literally indestructible.

Bloodshot is a movie by Vin Diesel where he was turned into a machine man with nanobots as his blood. Essentially, he had no real blood, but nanobots.

But then at the end of the movie, he was upgraded from v3 to v18.

Now one has to understand that even as v3, the dude was pretty much strong, that people like captain America were kids compared to him if you put all his abilities together, and that was just v3, now what about v18. A 6x jump in evolution or versioning.

"Proceed." I shouted.

[Host will fall into unconsciousness during the process….]

[Process will begin in 10… 9… 8….]

"Damn it." I cursed as I quickly looked around in panic.

I was in the middle of a forest for crying out loud, and the system wanted to render me unconscious? Who knew what would happen while I was out, or how long it would take.

I had to hurry. Looking around, I noticed a bit of a groove at the base of a nearby tree, it wasn't much but I had no choice or time.

So I rushed to it, and curled myself in there and just as I did.

[… 1. Good luck host.]

And everything went dark.

A Few Minutes Later.

My eyes fluttered open slowly with surprising clarity.

Normally, after unconsciousness, you'd wake with a headache, blurry vision, physical weakness and so on and so forth.

But not now, I didn't have any of that, my eyes immediately adjusted to the light and I immediately sat up looking around.

As for how I feel, one word. Great. Incredibly great.

I felt more alive than I have ever felt in my entire miserable life, I felt stronger, faster, like I could punch walls to oblivion. Which was right by the way.

Then my mind? It was so clear, my thoughts were waaaay faster than before. If there was a scale from 1 to 10, if previously I was around 5, now am 100.

That's how ridiculous it felt. It was as if I had access to my whole fucking brain, my senses were also now ridiculous I could hear from miles away.

And best of all, I could now control my blood, well, it was now nanites so, yeah. And if one can control their blood, they can control their whole self.

But as I was feeling the changes in me, the system messages appeared in my sight.

[Congratulations host, you a now a man-machine]

[Processing….]

[You have acquired the TeCH System.]

[System loading....]

[Loading successful]

[System binding to host...]

[Binding successful]

[Congratulations host, you have gained your system. Good luck.]

Looking at the kind of system I had got, it seemed I was in a technologically advanced world now. And although I got the system by luck, the system wouldn't let me have a system that wasn't useful in the reincarnated world.

Smiling a bit, it was time to get out of this damn forest and get some place to crash at for a few days as I get to know more about this world.

Because first of all I hadn't received memories of the previous owner of this body I now reside in, but now with the new control I have over this body, I am sure I can jump start the memories into place.

And that, is exactly what am about to do.
