Chapter 186 - Chapter 184: Fuji Kiseki Arc - Hachiman’s Day Off

Hachiman's POV

Yo, Hachiman Hikigaya here. It's Monday, a rest day from training. So, I've got nothing to do… Yeah, right! Man, the requests never stop—watch this training, make that menu. Most of them come from unassigned Uma Musume or Tresen Academy instructors. The unassigned girls? Fine, I get it. Showing off their skills to trainers is smart, and they might get solid advice. But the instructors? Do your damn jobs! Dumping menus on me? My plans are popular, sure, but come on, you've got teaching credentials!

…Ugh, should I talk to Tojo-san about this?

Hachiman: "…Sigh."

Hayahide: "Hm, something wrong, Trainer-kun? That was a heavy sigh."

Hachiman: "Oh, Hayahide… It's just…"

I spilled my mental rant to Hayahide. Venting to a student feels a bit off, but I need to let it out.

Hayahide: "I see. But it shows how much they rely on you. Accepting it graciously might lighten your mood."

Hachiman: "If I could do that, I wouldn't be struggling. Guess how often I get these menu requests?"

Hayahide: "Hm… Twice a month?"

Hachiman: "Nope. Once a week."

Hayahide: "…That's practically full-on delegation."

Hachiman: "Told you. It's relentless. Plus, it's like my skills are being exposed. I'm careful not to overstep, though."

Hayahide: "Why not talk to the chairman or Tazuna-dono? They'd be more helpful than me."

Hachiman: "Yeah. I'll also demand 30% of the instructors' salaries."

Hayahide: "That's a bit much…"

Hey, I'm doing half the work—maybe 70%!

Hallway

Venting to Hayahide helped, but now what? Tomorrow's menu is set, and I don't need new ones. I'm not a nap guy, so…

Bakushin-O: "Hey, hey, hey! It's Trainer-san!!"

Hachiman: "Hm?"

Bourbon: "Hello, Trainer."

Rice: "Hello, Onii-sama."

Hachiman: "Yo, quite the trio. You guys close?"

Bakushin-O: "Close? We're in the same year and class! And I'm the class president!! proud puff"

Huh, same year? Didn't know. I knew Rice and Bourbon were tight, but this makes sense.

Bourbon: "What were you doing here, Trainer?"

Hachiman: "Nothing much. Training's off today, so I'm free. But I'm not desperate enough to make new menus, and I'm not watching anyone's training either."

Bakushin-O: "Got it! But if you're free, why not watch someone's training? Learning other Uma Musume's styles could be useful!"

Hachiman: "…You telling me to watch yours?"

Rice: "B-Bakushin-O-san! That's too much!"

Bakushin-O: "No, no, not like that! Trainer-san's so good, he won't struggle to scout talent."

Hachiman: "I've already seen most Uma Musume run, so no need. Plus, I still get tons of those requests."

Bourbon: "Already have all the data? Impressive."

Bakushin-O: "Then how about us!? Want us as your trainees!?"

…Honestly? I do. Rice would dominate long-distance, Bakushin-O's untouchable in sprints, and Bourbon's a sprinter but can handle mid-distance—maybe even long-distance someday.

Hachiman: "You've all got strengths—sprinter, stayer, all-rounder. My focus is mid-distance, but honestly? I'd want all of you."

Bakushin-O: "Ohh!! Then—'No can do. There's a limit on trainees.' Ack! The limit… Fine, can't be helped."

Rice: "T-Then! If there was no limit, would you scout us?"

Hachiman: "Yeah, probably. No clue when I'll get my own team, though. Veteran trainers earned their spots through hard work."

Bourbon: "And you're likely getting swarmed by students too."

Hachiman: "…Maybe I'll hold off on that team thing for now."

Bourbon: "!?"

Bakushin-O: "Whoa!?"

Rice: "Eeh!?"

Afterword

Hachiman's rare day off turns into a venting session and a chaotic encounter in this Yahari x Uma Musume chapter! His popularity with unassigned Uma Musume and lazy instructors highlights his growing legend, while Rice, Bakushin-O, and Bourbon's energy adds charm. Fuji's arc continues with more trials ahead!
