Chapter 1 - Game Over, Begin Again

Somewhere on a world called Earth, nestled in the middle of a buzzing city, sat a large, ordinary school. Inside one of its classrooms, students pretended to pay attention to a droning lecture, notebooks half-filled, eyes glazed, brains barely functional.

Except for one student.

Wes Walker.

Raven-black hair, wild with zero regard for combs or gravity, and mischievous brown eyes that sparkled with mischief. While the rest of the class scribbled notes or feigned interest, Wes sat hunched over his desk, completely focused on his handheld gaming console. His thumbs danced over the buttons, explosions and gunfire sounding faintly from the speakers.

"Come on, come on... just one more headshot and I—" he whispered, laser-focused on his screen.

"BOOM! Gotcha! Eat magic bullets, you ugly tentacle freak!"

Wes leaned into the screen as the digital battlefield raged. Virtual monsters exploded into pixelated flames. "Tactical roll, dodge, reload—YES! Quad kill!" he shouted gleefully.

He was completely absorbed.

"WES WALKER!"

The entire class flinched.

Wes didn't.

He blinked lazily and tilted his head up, eyes still glued to his game. "Yo, Teach. Five more minutes. I'm on the last boss."

The teacher's face turned red with rage. "Put that thing down and focus! You're disrupting the entire class!"

"I'm enhancing my reaction speed," Wes replied smoothly, thumbs still going. "It's practically combat training. This is the future. Trust me, you'll thank me when the zombie apocalypse comes."

The classroom erupted in laughter. Students giggled and whispered to one another.

"Wes is at it again."

"Does he ever stop playing those games?"

"You'd think the teacher would've given up by now."

"He's funny, but also... kinda annoying."

"I wish I had the guts to ignore class like him."

Two rows behind Wes, someone wasn't laughing.

Scarlett Hayes, his childhood best friend, rolled her eyes so hard it looked like they might stick in the back of her head. Her long crimson-red hair was tied in a high ponytail with a black ribbon, swaying behind her like a whip. Sharp emerald eyes glared daggers at the back of Wes's head.

"Idiot," she muttered.

The teacher was about to unleash another tirade, voice rising—

RRRRRRRIIIIINNNNNGGG!

The bell rang.

Saved by the bell.

"Alright, students! That's all for today. Go home, and I expect actual participation tomorrow!"

Chairs screeched as students rose, conversations buzzing about their evening plans.

"Gonna binge that new anime."

"I'm hitting the arcade."

"Homework? What homework?"

Wes stayed seated, still playing, muttering to himself.

"Take that, you ugly goblin boss... Yeah! Headshot combo, baby!"

Suddenly—

"YOU IDIOT!!!"

A balled-up fist crashed down onto Wes's skull.

"OUCH! WHAT THE HELL?!" he yelped, clutching his head.

He spun around and saw Scarlett towering over him, looking furious.

"Idiot! You completely ignored class again!"

"I was in the zone! You can't interrupt a man mid-boss fight! That's sacred!"

"So is not failing math, dumbass!"

Wes stood, rubbing his head dramatically. "That hurt! Your punches are getting stronger! You training with gorillas now?"

Scarlett cracked her knuckles, an ominous aura rising around her. "Keep talking. Let's see if I can punch you into next semester."

Wes broke into a nervous sweat, hands raised. "Wait, wait! You're beautiful! A queen! Please don't hurt me again!"

Scarlett blushed, her scowl intensifying. "D-Don't embarrass me, you idiot!"

WHACK! Another fist landed on his head.

Wes fell to the floor, groaning. "It hurts! Why must beauty be so violent?!"

"What did you say?" Scarlett growled.

"Nothing! You're wonderful and gentle! Totally not terrifying!"

"That's what I thought, idiot."

Wes climbed back to his feet, still rubbing his head. "Your strength's evolving. I might need a helmet next time."

Scarlett sighed, adjusting her ponytail. "Let's go home, idiot."

"Yes, ma'am."

The two left the school building together, stepping into the city streets. Wes stretched, breathing in the warm afternoon air.

The city buzzed around them—cars zoomed by, neon signs flickered above stores selling snacks and gacha charms. The smell of street food lingered in the air, and the sky began to glow a soft orange as the sun dipped toward the horizon.

"So, what are you doing when you get home?" Scarlett asked.

"Finishing my game, of course. What else is there in life?"

She rolled her eyes again. "Why do I even ask? You're so predictable."

"It's called consistency, Red Blaze."

Scarlett froze. "Stop calling me that."

"But it suits you! Red hair, fiery temper, blazing fists of doom."

She looked away, pretending to be annoyed. "Idiot..."

Deep down, she liked it.

Wes chuckled. "You know, we've been walking home like this forever. Feels nostalgic, right?"

"Only if your definition of nostalgia includes getting whacked in the head daily."

"Hey, some people pay good money for that kind of treatment."

"Pervert."

"Tsundere."

"Nerd."

"Love of my life."

"I'm going to break your face."

They laughed together.

Then—a roar.

A speeding truck barreled down the road.

Neither of them saw it.

They stepped onto the crosswalk, still talking.

Wes's thoughts drifted. If I die now… would I get isekai'd? I wonder if Scarlett would be there too…

Blinding headlights. A deafening horn. Screams.

Then—

Darkness.

...

Wes groaned.

He opened his eyes.

Above him stretched a vast sky glittering with stars, unfamiliar constellations painted across the heavens. But it wasn't just the sky.

Floating islands drifted lazily overhead. Massive blue moons hovered in the distance. The grass beneath him was a soft violet hue, glowing faintly. Strange crystal trees sprouted around a meadow dotted with floating lights.

"What the hell..."

He sat up. Beside him, Scarlett lay motionless.

"Scarlett!"

She stirred, slowly opening her eyes. "Wes...? Where are we?"

Wes looked around, wide-eyed. "I… I think we're not on Earth anymore. This place... it looks like a fantasy game."

Scarlett sat up slowly, brushing blades of violet grass off her uniform. "This can't be real... Is this a dream? Did you hit me too hard and now I'm hallucinating?"

Wes grinned. "If this is a dream, it's the best one I've ever had. Magic trees, floating rocks, double moons… I'm expecting dragons any second now."

Scarlett looked around skeptically. "It's kinda... pretty. But also creepy."

"Come on, Scarlett. Embrace the isekai. This is what we've trained for—with anime marathons and JRPG side quests."

She rolled her eyes. "Only you would think dying via truck-kun is a victory."

"Truck-kun is a well-respected portal of reincarnation. Show some respect."

"Idiot," she muttered, though a smile tugged at the corner of her lips.

"Look at us, transported to another world, still in our uniforms, still broke, and still bickering. Some things never change."

Scarlett huffed. "If this is the afterlife, it's weird."

"If this is heaven, I'm filing a complaint about the customer service."

They both chuckled lightly before falling into a curious silence, staring at the vast expanse of stars above.

Then, a melodic voice echoed around them.

"You two have finally awakened."

They turned.

A throne of silver stone stood before them, and upon it sat a beautiful woman, radiant with ethereal light. Her eyes sparkled like galaxies, and her smile was both welcoming and mysterious.

Wes's eyes widened. "Who... are you?"

Wes and Scarlett stood frozen, their mouths slightly agape, eyes locked on the radiant woman before them.

She was ethereal.

Long, flowing silver-white hair shimmered like moonlight, cascading down her back and shoulders. Her eyes—impossible to ignore—glowed softly, one golden, the other a swirling violet, each one reflecting galaxies like mirrors of the cosmos. She wore a pristine white and gold gown, the fabric seeming to float on air, catching the starlight and casting it in soft halos. Behind her, a ring of shifting light hovered gently, like a halo in constant motion.

She looked like a living constellation—untouchable, divine.

Wes opened his mouth to say something, then promptly shut it.

The woman smiled gently, her voice soft, melodic, and filled with calm authority. "Me? I am Lady Seraphina Lumeria, Goddess of Rebirth and Destiny."

Both Wes and Scarlett froze like statues.

Then—

"G-GODDESS?!" they blurted out in unison.

Wes dramatically grabbed his head. "This really IS like anime! We died and got ISEKAI'D?!"

Scarlett blinked rapidly. "No way... no way no way no way... why are we talking to a goddess?! This can't be real!"

They stared at each other in shock, then back at Seraphina, then at each other again.

Wes's jaw dropped. "We really died?! Like, actually died?! This is insane!"

Scarlett clenched her fists. "Why are we here?! What did we do wrong?! Did I... did I mess up our karma or something?!"

Wes turned to Seraphina, flailing. "Wait! Was it because Scarlett is a violent monster?! Please don't send me to hell because of her—"

WHACK!

Scarlett's fist slammed into the top of his head.

"SHUT THE HELL UP!"

"OWWWW! MY HEAD! I'M GONNA GET A DENT AT THIS RATE!"

"Serves you right, you big baby. Maybe next time think before you open that idiot mouth."

"You say that like there's ever a next time where you're not hitting me!"

"Because you never stop deserving it!"

"I swear you were born with a black belt in violence, you crimson-haired combat goblin!"

THWACK!

"GOBLIN?! Say that again, and I'll put you in a headlock so tight you'll wish you were still dead!"

"A MONSTER! A BEAST! A RED-HAIRED DEMON WITH NO MERCY!"

WHAP!BAM!SMACK!

"Take that, and that, and THAT, you delusional video game freak!"

"OW! YOU'RE TRYING TO RE-KILL ME! THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL FORM!"

"No, your final form is 'crying like a loser on the floor!'"

"I can't believe I got isekai'd with my childhood bully! I should've wished for a solo adventure!"

"Then you'd die in five minutes, probably tripping over your own ego!"

"At least I wouldn't have a scarlet psycho looming over me 24/7!"

Their voices echoed through the beautiful dreamlike clearing, turning an ethereal landscape into a verbal battlefield.

Seraphina, still seated on her throne of light, tilted her head slightly. She watched them with calm interest, but even her celestial patience had its limits.

A soft cough interrupted them.

Both Wes and Scarlett froze, mid-scream and mid-headlock.

They turned slowly.

Seraphina raised an eyebrow, her voice calm but amused. "Are you two... finished?"

Wes immediately pointed at Scarlett. "It was her fault! She assaulted me in front of a goddess! That has to be, like, divine blasphemy or something!"

Scarlett shoved his hand away and pointed back. "He called me a monster! And goblin! And demon! He should be punished first!"

"You hit me like five times! I'm practically concussed!"

"You deserved every hit, you walking cringe compilation!"

"You're the walking anger issue poster child!"

"Delusional game addict!"

"Fire-haired tyrant!"

Seraphina let out a melodic giggle.

They both stopped, once again turning pale.

Wes and Scarlett scrambled to bow. "We're so sorry! We didn't mean to argue in front of you! Please don't smite us!"

"It's all their fault!" they both said at the same time.

"Hey! Stop copying me!"

"You're copying ME!"

"Children," Seraphina said gently.

They both snapped back to attention.

"I will not hurt you," she continued with a calm, affectionate smile. "I brought you here for a reason."

Scarlett composed herself and asked, still tense, "Why bring us here?"

"Yeah," Wes added, still rubbing his head. "We're not exactly chosen-hero material."

Seraphina stood gracefully, her gown glowing under the twin moons above. "Because I am offering you both a second chance. A new life in another world."

Their mouths fell open again.

"Second chance?!" Wes gasped. "Like, full-on fantasy world restart?!"

"But why us?" Scarlett asked. "What did you see in us?"

Seraphina's gaze turned to the horizon. "There is something within both of you. A potential even I, a goddess, cannot fully comprehend. Power wrapped in chaos, in love, in conflict... in destiny."

Wes grinned. "So basically, we're anime protagonists."

"I'm not sure if that's good or bad," Scarlett muttered.

Wes raised a hand. "Okay, important question. What kind of magic system does this world use? Is it chant-based, affinity-based, elemental, rune-style, mana points, cooldowns—"

Seraphina's eyes sparkled with amusement. "Magic in Virelia flows through Etherlines—veins of energy tied to every living thing. Each person manifests magic through a Core, which aligns with their nature. Elements are part of it, yes, but more than that... it is about emotion, intent, and will. There are spellforms, rituals, glyph-weaving, soul forging... and Ether-channelling is essential."

Wes's jaw dropped again. "Okay that's... awesome. Do I need to memorize spells or can I shout cool names like 'Starlight Inferno Barrage' and blast people?"

"Both methods work, depending on your talent," Seraphina said with a knowing smile.

Scarlett raised an eyebrow. "So magic is personalized?"

"Very much so," Seraphina replied. "Your Core responds to your very being. That is why even I cannot see what kind of power lies within you both."

"Okay then... what's the world called?" Wes asked.

Seraphina turned toward the sky, her voice soft but powerful. "The world you are being sent to is called... Virelia. A realm of ancient ruins, soaring dragons, and lost gods. A world once balanced, now fractured. And within that world... I believe you will tip the scales."

Wes whispered in awe, "Virelia... sounds like a JRPG final boss map. I'm so in."

Snap.

A surge of celestial energy radiated from Seraphina's fingers.

The ground trembled slightly. The air shimmered.

Then—

A giant circular glyph spread out beneath their feet, etched in silver and violet light. From above, dozens of strands of light rained down and spiraled together.

A massive floating violet screen burst into existence before them, crackling with magical energy. It expanded with a soft hum, runes shifting like constellations. Arcs of light ran across it like data streams.

Wes took a cautious step forward. "Whoa... it's like a divine holo-menu. This is sick."

Text began to appear, glowing brighter:

Available Classes

Warrior

Mage

Archer

Paladin

Shadowblade

Summoner

Beastkin Ranger

Chrono-Knight

Spirit Dancer

Magic Gunslinger

Magic Swordswoman

"Magic Gunslinger," Wes whispered, his hands trembling with excitement. "That's me. I was born for this. Pew-pew with magical flair."

"You're seriously picking something that lets you shoot glitter bullets, huh?" Scarlett teased.

"Don't hate just 'cause you're clearly going Magic Swordswoman. It literally screams 'Scarlett Hayes: Emotionally Violent Edition.'"

"I will 'emotionally violent' you into the dirt if you keep talking."

"See? Perfect fit."

Seraphina chuckled softly, her eyes filled with something unspoken—affection, worry, hope.

"This is only the beginning," she whispered. "Now choose."

Wes and Scarlett stood before the massive, glowing screen, their eyes scanning the list of magical classes shimmering in violet light. Each class name pulsed with energy as though alive—inviting, challenging, waiting to be chosen.

"Okay," Wes said, crossing his arms. "Let's take a look here. Warrior—too basic. Mage—too glass-cannon. Archer—meh. Paladin? I'm not exactly holy material."

Scarlett snorted. "Understatement of the year."

Wes shot her a look. "Shadowblade sounds edgy. Might be your vibe."

"Oh please. Spirit Dancer would suit you more—light on your feet, all the better for running from trouble."

"You wound me, fair maiden," he said with a dramatic hand to his chest. "Besides, I'm obviously destined for greatness."

"Yeah, like destined to fall into a pit because you're too busy monologuing."

They both laughed.

The goddess sighed. "Choose. Please."

They froze.

"Right, sorry!" Wes and Scarlett said together, turning back to the screen.

Wes stared at the screen again—and then his eyes widened. "Wait... no way."

A class near the bottom had begun to glow with intense light: Magic Gunslinger.

"Oh. My. Gosh. It's real. It's actually real. That's the class! That's the one! This is just like in my games—dual pistols, magic-enhanced shots, elemental trick bullets! This class was MADE for me!"

Scarlett raised an eyebrow. "You're seriously freaking out like a kid on Christmas."

"Because this is Christmas, birthday, and every game release all rolled into one!"

He pointed. "Magic Gunslinger is perfect for me!"

She rolled her eyes. "Of course it is."

Wes turned. "Did you pick one yet?"

Scarlett nodded with a small smile. "Yeah. Magic Swordswoman."

Wes gasped. "That's so you. Gorgeous blade work, controlled power, scary beauty."

Scarlett blushed slightly. "It fits, I guess."

Seraphina's voice cut in gently. "Are you ready to choose?"

They both nodded. "Yes."

Wes reached forward, his hand glowing as it passed through the Magic Gunslinger icon. Scarlett followed, touching the Magic Swordswoman symbol.

Light exploded from the screen.

Wes felt energy flood through his body—focused, fast, blazing like lightning. He clenched his fists as glowing circuits ran across his arms.

"This… this is it. I'm Magic Gunslinger," he said, awe in his voice. "This feels right."

Scarlett's eyes flashed. She held herself differently now—stronger, more certain. "I feel like I've wielded this blade my whole life."

Wes grinned. "It suits you."

"So does yours," she said. "Loud, flashy, and full of chaos."

"Exactly!"

Seraphina giggled.

"What's so funny, goddess?" Wes asked.

She smiled. "I knew you would choose those classes. It was always within you."

They both looked confused.

"How?" Scarlett asked. "How could you know?"

Seraphina's smile deepened. "Because I saw it the moment I looked into your souls. Now... I have gifts for you."

Wes and Scarlett's eyes widened.

"Gifts?! Like magical loot drops?!" Wes nearly vibrated.

"What kind of gifts?" Scarlett asked.

"First," Seraphina said softly, lifting a hand, "Scarlett."

She snapped her fingers.

A pillar of light descended in front of Scarlett. From it emerged a one-handed longsword.

The blade had a radiant silvery-white edge, sleek and gently curved, deadly but elegant. The crossguard stretched like outstretched wings—one side a flickering flame, the other a gust of wind. The grip was wrapped in dark crimson leather, reinforced and blessed, while glowing flame-wind tattoos spiraled down the blade. The pommel bore a gem: half ruby, half sapphire, pulsing with her heartbeat.

Scarlett's mouth opened in awe. "It's beautiful..."

She gripped the sword. It pulsed—alive in her hands.

"It feels... right. Like it knows me. Like it chose me, too."

Wes's eyes sparkled. "That sword looks incredible on you. Total boss energy."

Scarlett turned to Seraphina. "What's its name?"

Seraphina smiled. "Aetherflare. The Flamewind Blade."

Scarlett blinked. "Aetherflare... that's... perfect."

Wes grinned. "Awesome name. Sounds like it belongs in an anime opening."

"It was forged in the Heart of Fate," Seraphina said softly. "Woven from divine essence in the Sanctuary of the Eternal Loom. Formed from celestial fire stolen from a dying star, the Wind of the First Dawn, and a thread of my own destiny."

They both stared at her, stunned.

"That's insane," Wes whispered. "Like, cosmic forge insane."

"Aetherflare is a living weapon. It grows with Scarlett's will."

Scarlett looked at her sword again. Her heart thumped with pride and wonder. "Thank you... it's amazing."

Seraphina nodded. Then her eyes turned to Wes. "Now... your turn."

Wes lit up. "I've been waiting!"

She snapped her fingers again.

Two revolvers descended in twin beams of light.

One gleamed like moonlit silver, etched with glowing aqua-blue runes. The pearl grip shimmered with wind-spiral patterns, and the barrel sparkled with holy mist trails.

The other pulsed with heat—matte black, magma-cracked, wrapped in crimson dragonhide, etched with jagged glyphs and burning power.

Wes and Scarlett stared.

"Those are insane," Scarlett whispered.

Wes slowly took them into his hands.

He gasped. Power surged into him—agile, wild, overwhelming.

"I can feel them. Like they're alive. Like they're... waiting for me."

Scarlett smiled. "They suit you, Wes."

"What are their names?" he asked.

Seraphina answered: "Reveria—Silver Revolver of Clarity. Aurelia—Black Revolver of Fury."

Wes's eyes widened. "Those names are perfect. Elegant and deadly."

Scarlett nodded. "Sounds like you in gun form."

Seraphina added, "They are not just tools. They are your partners, your will made manifest."

Wes blinked. "What do you mean?"

Seraphina's smile widened. "Because they were once goddesses."

Wes and Scarlett both went pale. "WHAT?!"

Wes began pacing in a panic. "I'm holding actual GODDESSES?! Like, divine beings—turned into guns?!"

Scarlett was equally stunned. "You've been dual-wielding the most dangerous weapons in the universe. What else is new?"

"This isn't funny! I sleep with my weapons next to my pillow! What if they wake up?! What if they whisper judgment in my dreams?!"

"You'd deserve it."

"I'm going to be smited in my sleep by my own pistols!"

"You're so dramatic."

"I'm being serious! This is like a legendary anime plot twist times a thousand!"

Seraphina giggled softly.

"Long ago, Reveria and Aurelia were sister goddesses—one of harmony, one of chaos. Betrayed during the War of the Primordials, their spirits were sealed into these weapons. They waited for a mortal who could carry both balance and fire. That mortal... is you, Wes Walker."

Wes looked down at the revolvers in his hands. His expression softened. "Then I'll use them wisely. I swear it."

"You have the power to forge elemental bullets—imbued with light, flame, wind, and more."

Wes smiled. "I'm going to become the greatest elemental magic gunslinger ever."

The revolvers dissolved into light and entered his body.

"Whoa," he breathed. "That tingled... a lot."

"They are now part of your heart. They will answer when you call."

"Sweet."

Scarlett looked around. "What now?"

"Now... you begin your new life," Seraphina said.

Wes and Scarlett nodded.

"Are you ready?"

"Yes!" they said in unison.

Seraphina smiled. "Then I hope to see you again someday."

"Goodbye, Lady Seraphina. Thank you," Scarlett said.

"Yeah," Wes added with a smirk. "We'll make you proud."

Seraphina raised her hand and snapped her fingers.

The world vanished in radiant light.

In the next instant, they found themselves standing beneath a sapphire sky. Around them was a breathtaking forest—towering crystal-leaved trees shimmered in the sunlight, their branches singing in the breeze. A river, glowing faintly with blue magic, flowed beside a mossy path. Birds with gemstone feathers flew overhead, chirping soft melodies.

Wes spun in place. "This is… incredible. It's like a dreamscape."

Scarlett nodded slowly. "It's peaceful... but you can feel the magic in the air. The whole place feels alive."

Colorful butterflies fluttered past. Strange glowing flowers opened as they walked. There were ancient runes etched into rocks, softly glowing.

Chapter 4: Stats, Skills, and Surprises

Before they could take their first step into the unknown, Wes suddenly paused.

"Hold up," he muttered.

Scarlett turned, brows raised. "What now?"

Wes rubbed his chin. "If this really is a fantasy world… then there's no way it doesn't have one of the most important things ever."

Scarlett tilted her head. "You're being vague again."

He smirked. "Status screen."

She blinked. "You're kidding."

"Nope." Wes held his hand out and said with clear excitement, "Status."

A faint chime echoed in the air.

A glowing violet screen suddenly blinked into existence in front of him, hovering like a hologram.

"It worked! OH MY GOSH IT ACTUALLY WORKED!"

Scarlett gasped. "That's real?! You weren't just being your usual otaku dork self?!"

"Never doubt the power of isekai logic!" Wes grinned like a madman as he leaned in to read.
