Chapter 13 - 13. Evidence

...

Master Gu;" Li?! That scumbag family, how dare you call me after what your dad did to me. And you dare call me Master-don't you value your life anymore."

The memories of the past came flooding back, and Nancy Li's eyes narrowed as she tried to remain calm.

"Master, please don't say that- I know we were unreasonable back then, but we are not your enemies. It was the Morris family who are to blame for it all. They made my family helpless and act that way-"

Gilbert Gu's laughter was filled with malice and scorn, "Morris family?! Are you seriously trying to push the blame onto that family. Be reasonable here, Nancy Li- was it the Morris family who borrowed ten million from me? Was it the Morris family who kicked my family away."

Nancy Li's voice was measured as she replied, "What if I told you that your wife's death was related to the Morris family-what then would you do?"

Gilbert Gu's response was immediate, "I will hunt down every single member of the Morris family-and teach them a lesson they shall never forget."

Nancy Li's smile was cruel as she added, "Then meet me at Central Street Cafe this evening, I will be waiting Master."

With that, she ended the call, brief and short. She was confident that the evidence she had in her hands, with a little bit of editing, would get Gilbert Gu under her fingers as an obedient puppet.

Once she has Gilbert Gu as a backer, who could lay a finger on her, not even Genesis would know what hit her.

...

The moon dipped below the Strokes' skyline, casting a silver glow over the exclusive Bellvue Manor. Luxury cars glided up the crescent driveway, their headlights casting a warm glow on the manicured lawns.

The sound of champagne glasses clinking and the soft hum of conversation filled the air as guests arrived for the evening's festivities. Inside, the atmosphere was electric.

Women in silk gowns shimmered like moonlit waves, their laughter and chatter weaving a sensual spell. Men in tailored tuxedos stood with cufflinks glinting like diamonds, their eyes scanning the room for potential business partners or romantic interests.

Lilith Clay and Genesis Stokes stood together, welcoming guests with flirtatious gazes. Genesis's black hair cascaded down her back like silk waterfalls, and her emerald green evening gown hugged her slender figure, accentuating her delicate collarbones. Lilith, with her luminous skin and sapphire eyes, wore a midnight blue evening gown, strapless and mermaid-cut, showcasing her toned physique. As they greeted guests, people couldn't help but compliment them, calling them blood sisters and twins.

Lilith's face lit up with a bright smile, her eyes sparkling with amusement as she asked Genesis, "Do you think Brother Lachlan would finally notice me, sister Genesis?"

Genesis's eyes sparkled with amusement, and she smugly stated, "Of course, Lachlan would notice you."

Her gaze drifted to the door, where Esther stood like moonlight incarnate, draped in a *Midnight Eclipse Gown*: A floor-sweeping, strapless black velvet masterpiece that hugged her porcelain skin, accentuating delicate collarbones that seemed chiselled by angels.

"She is so pretty, which nationhood does she come from?"

"Her dress? I recognize it, isn't it the limited edition dress which haven't been released in the market."

"Yes that is, wow so she is not only pretty but a low-key business tycoon."

"I can't stop staring, she is really beautiful."

"Do you think she would my number."

"Pfft! She probably have a boyfriend. All pretty girls do."

The room erupted into whispers and gasps, with people commenting on Esther's beauty and wondering if she was a secretive billionaire.

Lilith's face tightened, her eyes narrowing slightly as she watched Esther's effortless elegance captivate the guests.

She took a glass of wine from a nearby waitress, a wicked glint in her eyes as she approached Esther.

Meanwhile Esther had just arrived at the manicure bar, where she took a seat on a stool ordering for a non alcoholic drink.

The bartender who gaze landed on Esther felt a bit nervous and sweaty. He had never seen such beauty before, even though he worked at high classed establishment.

It was truly an honour to serve her, even if it means giving her free drinks out of his paycheck.

Whiles her drink was yet to arrive, Esther scrutinized the guests who had come to the party. Most of them where influential individuals from the high class society. She had anticipated the main reason for coming over, and that was securing contract opportunities with Lachlan.

Since it is Lachlan's welcome party, they wanted to use it at their advantage. Some even came with documents handled by personal assistants.

Her gaze was reverted to the approaching figure, who wore a sheep mask to hide her wolf skin.

Lilith Clay, the second daughter to the Clay family of Waterside city and heiress to the Clay empire.

"You look dazzling tonight." Lilith said, a hint of jealousy crept in her tone as she contuined" Wow is this the limited edition dress of the Eastbourne Pavilion Inc which was supposed to be presented publicly next month. How are you wearing it, tell me who is your dealer, I want to know."

Esther's gaze remained calm, her eyes scanning Lilith face. She knew Lilith wanted to humiliate her publicly, but little did she know she was the owner and so she could get her products before hand.

As soon as Lilith's words reverberated in everyone's ears, they all turned to the scene their gazes questioningly especially on Esther and her dress.

" Are you really interested in knowing my dealer or do you want to call my dress a counterfeit."

Lilith was left speechless, completely taking aback by Esther's sharp tone.

"Wh.."

"No need,I don't actually blame you Lilith, when a beggar see gold for the first time they jump in joy, seeing heaven for the first time."

Her words left the guest laughing hardly completely understanding her joke. Which right heiress would ask publicly of someone's dealer if they don't have one. Couldn't Lilith tell from a legit brand and counterfeit.

"I..."

"You don't have to explain yourself Lilith, if you aren't a beggar this message isn't directed to you. Or are you really a beggar."

Esther was deliberately provoking Lilith, her plan was to push Lilith to the wall and have her bouce back. But her bouncing wouldn't be accurate as she hoped, Esther was going to push Lilith to the edge where she made more mistakes and get exposed.

Lilith seeing that she was only been mocked at, resorted to using her weak side as an escape plan.

She started making small sobs before reluctantly saying." I didn't mean that Sister... Why would I call your clothing counterfeit intentionally."

"Exactly why would you call my clothings counterfeit intentionally, is it because you want to humiliate me at today's party. As far as I know you Lilith, you aren't a person of loud noise making but yet when you were talking earlier your voice was so deafening, the glasses in the shelve could almost shatter.

Don't tell me you have problems with your ears, that is why you resort to shouting. If that is so, we should take you to the doctor as soon as possible. We don't want the heiress to the Clay family to be disfigured in the ear, if your Family don't have enough capabilities I can sell my dress for you Sister."

Esther finished talking, her words hitting Lilith in the worst places possible. She was read like an open book, and that too Infront of everyone. She was seeing that no one was buying her pathetic excuse anymore.

"Enough Esther..."
