Chapter 20 - Post match interviews

A few moments after the match ended, it was now time for the post-conference. The first team out was Newcastle. Their Coach, James Black, and Captain Sung Eun-Woo made their way to the press conference, taking their seats and preparing to answer questions from the media.

The first journalist to speak up was a well-known sports reporter, who began by congratulating Sung Eun-Woo on his incredible performance. "Captain Sung Eun-Woo, congratulations on your outstanding match! You scored 3 goals and provided 1 assist, earning you the Man of the Match award. How does it feel to have had such a dominant performance on the pitch?"

Sung Eun-Woo smiled humbly, nodding his head in appreciation. "Thank you, it's an honor to receive this recognition. I'm proud of my performance, but more importantly, I'm proud of the team's effort. We fought hard until the end, and it was a great team display."

The journalist nodded, smiling, and followed up with another question. "That's great to hear, Captain. Your performance was indeed impressive, but I have to ask, what was going through your mind when the game was tied 4-4 and you had the opportunity to potentially win the game for your team?"

Sung Eun-Woo thought for a moment before responding. "To be honest, I just focused on doing my job and creating opportunities for the team. We knew it was a tough game, and we had to be patient and persistent. I'm just glad that my goals and assist were able to help the team, even if we didn't get the win."

James Black, the Newcastle coach, chimed in, nodding in agreement. "I think Sung Eun-Woo's performance was a great example of the team's resilience and determination. We knew it was going to be a tough game, but the boys showed great character and fought until the end."

Another journalist, sitting a few seats away, raised his hand and was given the microphone. "Captain Sung Eun-Woo, I'd like to ask about the Spurs team you faced today. What was your take on their fighting spirit, especially considering this was their first match back in the EPL?"

Sung Eun-Woo nodded thoughtfully, taking a moment to consider his response. "Spurs showed a lot of grit and determination out there. They're a tough team to play against, and they never gave up. I think they were disappointed with the draw, but they earned their point. It's a good start for them in the new season."

James Black added, "Yes, Spurs was a very difficult opponent. They've got some talented players, and they're well-coached. We knew it wouldn't be an easy game, and it wasn't. We have to take the point and move forward."

A female journalist stood up, microphone in hand, and asked, "Coach Black, I'd like to get your thoughts on the 'Spurs Phoenix twins', Leon Blake and Alex Owen. They're both young players who have been making waves in the league. What's your take on their performance today?"

James Black smiled, nodding his head in appreciation. "Ah, yes, it's always good to see new young players make their presence known in the league. And those two, Leon and Alex, they're certainly talented players. The way they dominated the midfield today was impressive. To be honest, if I'm being completely honest, they were the real MVPs of today's game. Their energy, their work rate, their passing... it was a pleasure to watch."

Sung Eun-Woo chuckled, nodding in agreement. "Yes, they're a dynamic duo. We had our work cut out for us trying to contain them."

Coach Black's expression turned slightly wistful, and he said, "You know, for the first time in a long time, I'm actually feeling a bit envious of another team having such young, talented players. Loan and Alex... they're the kind of players that can change the game. I hope they stay humble, stay grounded, and continue to work hard. They've got the potential to be something special. I'm not saying they're going to be the next Messi or Ronaldo, but... we could be looking at the measuring sticks of the next era."

The room fell silent for a moment, with all eyes on Coach Black, as the weight of his words sank in. Sung Eun-Woo nodded in agreement, a small smile on his face. "I think you're right, Coach. They've got a bright future ahead of them."

A few moments later, Coach Black and Sung Eun-Woo wrapped up the press conference, thanking the journalists for their questions. "Thank you all for your time, and we appreciate the opportunity to share our thoughts on today's match," Coach Black said, standing up.

With that, they exited the conference room, making way for the Spurs contingent. Coach John and Edwardo, the Spurs captain, took their seats, ready to face the media and discuss their team's performance. As the Newcastle representatives departed, Coach John nodded to Edwardo, and they both settled in, prepared to answer the journalists' questions. The room buzzed with anticipation, as the journalists shifted their focus to the Spurs team, eager to hear their thoughts on the match and the team's prospects for the season.

One journalist, a seasoned sports reporter, spoke up first. "Coach John, congratulations on a great performance by Spurs today. How does it feel to be back in the EPL, and what does it mean to draw your first match back?"

Coach John smiled, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. "It's great to be back in the EPL, and I'm proud of the team's performance today. Drawing the first match isn't ideal, but I think we earned our point. We had some moments where we could have won the game, but overall, I'm happy with the way the team played. We've worked hard to get back to this level, and it's a good start for us."

Edwardo, the Spurs captain, nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it was a tough game, but we showed some great character and resilience. We're looking forward to the next match and getting the three points."

The journalist nodded thoughtfully and followed up with another question. "Coach John, what's the way forward from here? Are there any areas of the game that you think the team needs to improve on?"

Coach John leaned forward, his expression focused. "Yeah, there are definitely some technical adjustments we need to make here and there. We'll work on fine-tuning some of our tactics and strategies, and I think that will make a big difference. But overall, I'm confident in the team's ability to adapt and improve. We should be good, hopefully."

Edwardo chimed in, "We're looking forward to getting back to training and working on some of the things that didn't quite go our way today. We'll come back stronger in the next match."

One journalist, known for asking tough questions, spoke up next. "Edwardo, there's been a lot of speculation about your future with Spurs, with some rumors suggesting that this could be your last season with the team. Can you tell us what's going on? Are you planning on hanging up your boots soon?"

Edwardo laughed it off, a hint of amusement in his voice. "Ah, you know how it is. The rumors never stop, do they? Let's just say it's no secret that my body isn't what it used to be. The recovery time's a bit longer, and the training's a bit harder. But I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. I'm still enjoying the game, and I'm still contributing to the team. We'll worry about the future when the time comes, but for now, I'm focused on helping Spurs achieve our goals."

The room erupted in a chorus of camera clicks and murmurs, as the journalists scribbled down Edwardo's words. Coach John smiled, seemingly unfazed by the rumors, and nodded in agreement. "Edwardo's still a vital part of this team, and we're glad to have him on board."

The journalist pressed on, her tone firm but fair. "Coach John, I've been following Patels' career, and I saw how he played last season in the second division. He had no problem passing to his teammates back then. Even today, he passed fairly to everyone apart from Leon and Alex. Why's that? If I didn't know better, it almost seems like Patels doesn't like the Phoenix twins. Is there something going on between them that we're not aware of?"

Coach John's expression turned slightly uncomfortable, and he cleared his throat before responding. "I think Patels is just still getting used to playing with Leon and Alex. They're new additions to the team, and he's still finding his rhythm with them. I'm sure it's nothing more than that."

One journalist spoke up, a hint of a smile on his face. "Coach John, I'd like to ask you about something Coach Black from Newcastle said earlier. He mentioned that Leon and Alex might be the leaders of this era. What are your thoughts on that?"

Coach John's face lit up with a warm smile as he responded. "If that's true, then I'll be honored to have been their first coach in their profession careers and the man behind how their legend started. Those two are incredibly talented players, and It's exciting to think about what the future holds for them, and I'm grateful to have to be a part of their journey so far."

A few moments later, Coach John and Edwardo wrapped up the press conference and left, leaving the journalists to dissect the comments made during the session. But one comment in particular had sent shockwaves through the football world: Coach Black's comparison of Leon and Alex to the legendary numbers 7 and 10.

As the news spread like wildfire, the football community was abuzz with debate. Some people were skeptical, saying that Loan and Alex could never be the new Messi and Ronaldo. "It's a long stretch," one fan tweeted. "Those two are talented, but they're not on the same level as Messi and Ronaldo."

Others were more optimistic, pointing out that everything is possible in the world of football. "We'll just enjoy the ride and see how far they can go," another fan said. "Stranger things have happened in football, right?"

The comments of Coach Black, a key figure known for identifying talented individuals, had turned the world of football upside-down. Some were even calling him the "Pep of his Era" due to his keen eye for talent and ability to spot future stars.

As the debate raged on, one thing was certain: Leon and Alex were suddenly on everyone's radar, and the world was watching with bated breath to see what the future held for these two young stars.
