Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Blade Zen and Discipline

After being accepted as a disciple, Aoi Ren didn't change his daily routine. He continued training alongside Guy.

His intense focus during their exercises even prompted Guy to start shouting his usual phrases about "youth" and "passion" more enthusiastically than ever.

Once they finished their training for the day, Aoi Ren informed Guy that he wouldn't be able to join him from tomorrow onward.

Exhausted, he returned home.

Lying on his bed, he summoned the system.

"I want to use the lottery," he said.

[System: Detected that the Host currently has two God-Tier Lottery Points. Would you like to use both?]

"No no, just one for now," Aoi Ren replied. "I'll save the other for later."

A spinning roulette appeared in his mind. The six reward slots included:

S-Rank Item: Heavenly Flame * Bone-Chilling Cold Flame

S-Rank Skill: Armament Haki

S-Rank Skill: Blade Zen

S-Rank Pet: Magic Cat Yuumi

S-Rank Equipment: Guardian Angel

S-Rank Item: Lightning Dragon Slayer Magic Crystal

As expected from a God-Tier Lottery, every reward made Aoi Ren's eyes burn with excitement.

The Bone-Chilling Cold Flame came from the world of Battle Through the Heavens—a rare fusion of extreme heat and cold, found only once every hundred years at the moment when sun and moon align over a land of deep yin and cold.

Armament Haki came from the world of One Piece, a technique that enhances the user's offensive and defensive capabilities like an invisible armor. It even allows the user to strike Logia-type Devil Fruit users by hitting their real bodies.

Yuumi, the magical cat, hailed from the world of League of Legends. A familiar of a Yordle witch named Norra, Yuumi had become the guardian of the Book of Thresholds after her master's mysterious disappearance. Together with the sentient book, she traversed portals between pages in search of Norra, offering protection, shields, and unwavering spirit to her companions.

Guardian Angel, also from League of Legends, had a simple but powerful effect—resurrection.

The Lightning Dragon Slayer Magic Crystal came from Fairy Tail. When absorbed, it granted the user lightning-based Dragon Slayer Magic.

As for Blade Zen, Aoi Ren wasn't quite sure what that skill entailed.

"Let's spin the wheel!"

Without hesitation, he activated the draw.

[Ding! Congratulations, Host! You have obtained the S-Rank Skill: Blade Zen]

"Huh? So that's what I got."

A stream of information flooded his mind, granting him complete understanding of the skill.

Blade Zen originated from the world of Bleach. It was a meditative practice performed by Soul Reapers to communicate with their Zanpakutō. Sitting cross-legged with the blade resting across their knees, they focused all their thoughts on the sword to summon its spirit and engage in dialogue. This practice was known as "Blade Zen."

But it wasn't just a method of communication. Blade Zen was also a powerful way to cultivate Reiryoku—spiritual energy.

"Hahaha, not bad, not bad. Spiritual training is exactly what I need!"

"Physical training with Master Chen, and now mental training through Blade Zen to deepen my control over Hyōrinmaru. Strengthening both body and mind!"

"Push both fronts! Push them hard!"

"Hehehe…"

After the draw, Aoi Ren fell asleep, deeply satisfied.

...

Early the next morning—

When Aoi Ren awoke, he felt completely refreshed. The fatigue from the previous day had vanished.

"Today, I begin real training with Master Chen!"

He got ready in record time and rushed to Chen's house.

After they had breakfast together, Chen led Aoi Ren to the back mountain.

"To master taijutsu, you need a strong body," Chen said.

"My method is simple: pursue your limits."

"By pushing your body to its absolute limits during training, you'll surpass those limits."

"Watch my movements carefully."

Despite his age, Chen's punches were sharp and powerful, brimming with raw force.

He used no chakra, just pure physical strength—and yet, his presence alone was overwhelming.

"Did you get all that?"

"I did!" Aoi Ren responded. His photographic memory, enhanced by his spiritual fusion with Hyōrinmaru, made it easy to memorize complex sequences.

"Good. Today's goal: one hundred repetitions!"

Watching Chen perform the routine with ease made it seem effortless, but once Aoi Ren tried it himself, he found it incredibly difficult.

The routine was Master Chen's original creation, designed to activate and train every part of the body through precise and brutal movements.

"Twenty-nine!"

"Thirty!"

Just after the thirtieth repetition, Aoi Ren collapsed to the ground.

He lay there in a heap, drenched in sweat, his perspiration soaking into the dirt beneath him.

"Get up!" Chen's voice barked sharply.

Gritting his teeth, Aoi Ren forced himself back onto his feet.

Seeing his persistence, Chen began teaching him a unique chakra circulation technique—his personal method to relieve fatigue and heal minor injuries by moving chakra in a specialized pattern.

As he applied the technique, Aoi Ren felt his body recover significantly. He resumed training at once.

And so the cycle began: train, recover, train, recover...

By evening, the day's regimen was finally complete.

Dragging his sore body, Aoi Ren headed to Ichiraku Ramen.

"Slurp… slurp…"

He devoured thirty-one bowls of ramen in one sitting. The intense training demanded an equally massive intake of nutrients.

After eating, he stumbled home and collapsed straight into bed.

"Snore… snore…"

...

"Leaf Whirlwind!"

"Leaf Rising Wind!"

"Leaf Strong Whirlwind!"

"Leaf Dragon God!"

In an open clearing, a boy and an old man exchanged taijutsu blows. The match ended in the boy's defeat.

"Master, I still lost to your Leaf Dragon God," Aoi Ren said, scratching his head sheepishly.

"You've done remarkably well," Chen replied with a warm smile. "You're the fastest learner I've ever seen. In less than half a year, you're already close to surpassing me."

Aoi Ren had now been training under Chen for nearly six months. He had fully mastered the Konoha-style taijutsu—except for the final move, the Leaf Dragon God, which still eluded him. But that was just a matter of time.

In tandem with taijutsu, he had continued practicing Blade Zen. Over these six months, both his spirit and body had grown stronger. He had also achieved perfect synchronization with Hyōrinmaru. The Zanpakutō now felt like a natural extension of his own being.

Just then, Kurenai suddenly appeared before him.

"Aoi Ren, we have a new mission!"
