Chapter 53 - Believer

In her bedroom.

The collapsed Selina experienced a bruise from her head and shoulder, received from her fall on the bed's frame and the floor's hardness.

However, her eyes remained shut, sleeping ever so peacefully in the tranquil night.

On her face, between her brows. Red speckles gathered around her glabella.

The spotlights formed a downward crescent. With a shaded circle at its center, three lines extends from the mysterious pattern, indicating birth after the majestic mother acting as the moon.

At the same time. The identical symbol from the back of her palm appeared, fading as it arrived. Her crimson tipped hair slightly regained its silverness.

The enigmatic symbol receded into her skin, vanishing from her face.

...

The world shattered like an illusory glass.

In a darkened world, sunlight suddenly illuminated the mountainous flesh acting as the land's floor.

Selina's visage was then sculpted instinctually from organs and flesh. One by one, each coalesced into a pure white dress, golden-silver hair, supple white skin and face.

Her eyes slowly fluttered open.

I'm here...

In the next second, her lower body, with no feet nor legs as they are connected to the ground. Vines started to sprout.

It first cornered Selina, before dispersing into multiple segments, all leading back to her in a spiraling mural-like manner.

Selina let her eyes wonder around the vast pasture of Milo. In reminisce of her body's past, she felt fragments of foreign emotions welling up within her.

However, these emotions quickly faded, prompting Selina to finally focus on other matters.

I'm now capable of visiting the dreamworld willingly and can now access its ability to replicate appearance as well as anything related to nature.

I won't have to rely on its daily occurrence to make use of it... Her hand rose from her waist.

Suddenly, flowers bloomed across the field that had only grasses earlier, covering an acre of land.

In the next second, strong wind surged from her side, originating from the distant horizon, it swept the flowers of its petals.

The wind carried it outward, then paused mid-air.

The surrounding rained colorful petals, slowly descending onto the environment.

After fully recovering from the mild, incomprehensible ravings brought by her visit. Selina assumed her usual poise and turned toward of the extending vines.

Alright, let's begin our act...

Her hand faced one of the limited vines. With the similar curiosity of what is beyond it s end, Selina phased into an aqueous light, vanishing from her place.

The world grew hazy and another sculpture was constructed from the flesh of the environment.

It formed a man with dark-grayish hair, stern face, and a slight crooked nose. Wearing a brown, parchment robe tied by a same colored cloak.

He first looked disoriented, then showed confusion after seeing the pasture rolling infinitely to the horizon.

His gaze shifted before he finally noticed Selina, standing at a distance from him.

What he saw wasn't a normal human. It was bright divine light, cloaking a silhouette of a lady dressed in a long gown.

The illumination wasn't blinding. However, it distilled fear and horror on the man, prompting him to take more than one step backward.

His hand shivered, his back turning colder. He wanted to run, but in doing so could only result in futility.

Seeing the man's reaction. Selina sighed in resignation as she began to look at him pitifully.

This is concerning... The deity they're worshipping, instead of instilling greater faith, it was replaced by horror...

Were they truly trying to bring the Child of God back?

Watching the man stumbled onto his feet, crawling with his front facing her. Selina settled internally as she willed the dreamworld.

The surrounding, featuring only vibrant suddenly bloomed flowers across the field.

Gentle breeze blew from the east, refreshing both her and the man.

Accompanying it was the soothing scent of flowers, scattered throughout the environment.

Unlike earlier, the flowers weren't the usual ones from Earth. Instead, the world bloomed multiple slumber flowers, exuding a soothing effect.

The man, caught a whiff of the intense scent, instantly felt his nerves becoming at ease.

Noticing her guest gradually calming down. Selina once again, used her limited authority to sweep the petals upward, mirroring her earlier show.

There... I hope this will make the Child of God's image less frightening... Selina let out a soft breath.

After settling the man's tension. She prepared to severe her connection with the vine when the man abruptly let out a voice.

"Oh great Child of God!"

Selina was taken aback, her action halted.

"Our faction had always believed in you! Your presence in ancient records, our ancestors speak of your name which had lost through time!" The man added with piousness.

"We decided to integrate ourselves into the secret organization, Rose School of Thought. All in order to be supported in our attempt at reviving you!

"However, we've failed. Time and time again!" The man gripped the soil with his bare hands.

"But now." He raised his head, his eyes growing more faithful toward the lady obscured by a divine light.

"You're here, alive!" He exclaimed.

"This meant that our labor, that almost seemed as illusion had bear fruit! And we, your believers, shall received salvation under your grace!"

The Rose School of Thought took you in? Selina almost blurted out the question from her mouth, nearly destroying her enigmatic image.

So the believers of the Child of God was merely a group that evolved into a faction using an alias of Rose School of Thought. Mr. Hanged Man is correct...

If so... Then the actual organization must have different beliefs and alternate motives in taking the Child of God's believers under their wing... She reasoned inwardly.

The man, now stood before Selina, resumed his confession. "Your grace! Your spirit had been lingering in the deepest part of the spirit world."

Spirit world? Selina internalized the term.

"Just this previous year. Our divination experts gave a revelation about your spirit reaching a critical level, which if we didn't take action, your presence will cease to exist!" The man added with reverence.

"Thus, we prepared a ritual."

Selina froze from where she stood. Memories and emotions surging back like tides.

"In an attempt to revive you. We've divined a young vessel who somehow had a close mystical relation to your existence.

"If we succeed, your spirit will replaced hers in a living body, achieving a descent! However, if failed, her spirit shall act as medium to extend your presence, allowing you to appear as a wraith for the time until we discovery a reliable method of resurrecting you!"

Hearing all of this. Selina didn't noticed that her palm, pressing together just below her abdomen have began trembling out of anger, her fingers clenching tightly to one another.

The man kept his rambling. "Our ritual was carried out as a reenactment of your wedding with the Giant King. With respect only to your mystical connection rather than the groom.

"With the aid of the Primordial Moon faction. We've succeeded in cornering the vessel, attempted the ritual with an act similar to your wedding, attended with relatives and acquaintances.

"However, we failed the initial attempt." The man grit his teeth.

"We didn't realized beforehand that the bride, the vessel, managed to halt the reenactment at a critical moment. Thus, we decided to skip the initial ritual and made the vessel took a pathway corresponding to one of your authorities by her own accord."

I was right... The cloaked man mentioned in her diary deliberately gave her a false hope... Selina felt her emotions stirred behind the divine light.

"With the blood of the people. We succeeded with the ritual! However, the vessel still remained human. Thus, we tried to reattempt the first ritual, believing it would awaken your consciousness."

Selina's body shivered, horror crept across her face. The Child of God? In me? T-They succeeded!?

The man lowered his body and began kneeling before the divine lady in front him. "However, we failed once more as the officials arrived...

"We couldn't believe it. The town was rural, isolated from the seven orthodox church's jurisdiction."

He kneeled gravely with all his body. "But by some miracle. The rural town managed to establish a brief connection with the officials. Allowing for a raid to happen at a critical moment.

"The rural town which no longer had any of its inhabitants except for the vessel whose strictly under our monitor, contacted the outside world and cooperated!"

His fingers pulled the soil in frustration. "Please forgive us! Forgive our ancestors, forgive your believers of their mistakes!

"Now that you're alive, the past won't matter now..." The man lifted his head from the ground and looked toward Selina with zealousness.

"Oh Great Child of God! Allow us to seek refuge under your grace!"

Selina felt her hands contract tightly together.

She wanted to quickly severe the connection, force the man to face atonement by mimicking a harsh nightmare, or blatantly decline his confession just to see how the man would react.

However, each would result in an illogical decision driven by emotion.

So instead, Selina bit her lips, obscured heavily by a blinding light and willed the world according to her desire.

The wind crackled to form audible sounds. It first became static noise then gradually stabilizing into something comprehensible.

It responded in an enchanting voice. "Very well."

The man's face bloomed into a tearful and collapsed relief.

"However..."

Hearing the world's word. The man immediately froze.

"I have been isolated from the material world for too long. The state it is in eludes me." The environment continued.

"Provide me with its current condition and I will overlook these flaws, deeming it as trivial."

The man shivered. His thoughts failed to formulate out of great zealousness.

"Your grace, that would be no issue." He replied with reverence.

"Additionally..." The world added in an echo.

"Refer to my authority as absolute. You shall not condemn any souls in an unruly slaughter, you must first seek my consultation and account for revelation. In doing so shall I bestow attention to thy faction."

After hearing her words. Selina's face burned beet red behind the light. Her thoughts raced as she fought the feeling of breaking from character.

The man stood in awe as he placed his forearm over his abdomen. He said with solemn voice. "By your will."

Then he proceeded to bow before Selina.

Seeing how the man acted. Selina commanded the entire dreamworld in saying. "You may return."

The man held his breath and nodded briefly.

Just before Selina can dismiss him. The man blurted once again, his voice shivering. "G-Great Child of God. Forgive me but may I ask your current honorary title?

"We, your believers, are unable to reach your grace. We've attempted different titles according to the ancient records, however, we still failed in all of them... Conjuring a makeshift title is too dangerous and could harm our entire faction."

Honorary title... Referred names that initiates a connection to a deity that points them... Selina recalled her mother's teaching of the Evernight's scriptures and bible.

Those require mysticism languages to invoke... I haven't learned any and If I create a title at this instance, the structure and wording might led the faction to danger...

Her mind rattled for a response. Contemplating for about five seconds. Selina finally replied through the environment. "Once you've completed the mandate."

The man understood her intention. Right now, the faction was in a dire state between forgiveness and damnation from their deity.

However, at this moment, he realized that he had become an envoy of their resurrected goddess. Enabling him to have authority over his fellow members.

He nodded briefly with eagerness and said with high regards. "As you wish."

Selina finally severed her connection with the man. From there, he saw lustrous light that engulfed him then consumed his vision, turning entirely black.

...

After returning to the beginning of the mural-like vines.

Selina reviewed what the believer of the Child of God had confessed. Giant King... So there are giants in this world...

He is the Child of God's husband, the groom of her wedding. Instead of considering the uniqueness of the groom, they instead focused onto the previous Selina. She's linked to their deity in a mystical way, but what is that linkage?

She turned her head to the vine she had recently phased to then shifted her gaze around the pasture that stretches infinitely across the horizon.

This meant that this dreamworld occurs because I have the Child of God within my body. My spirit, or rather, me as a secretary from Earth, doesn't have any sort of connection with this world.

Now I'm certain that the space beyond the gray fog, where Tarot club gatherings are held, had a deep relation to my transmigration.

And the only way for me to return is through its deity, Mr. Fool.

Her hand quietly softened their hold. To aid Him in restoring his former self. I must disclose matters about myself and ask to become His blessed.

Maybe a week or two from now... After my dept is settled...

With her reason for visiting have already achieved. Selina simulated the feeling of descending.

Her thoughts lingered momentarily, before her vision blurred, dissolving into pure darkness.

Selina's sculpture closed its eyes, then collapsed into multiple pulsating organs and flesh that immediately returned to the soil.

The sunlight receded and the environment reverted. Becoming place with a flesh tissue as its sky, appearing like the inside of a womb.
