After boarding a trackless carriage.
Klein glanced at the increasingly uneased Selina gazing far into the window.
For the usually composed lady, one who exudes aristocracy effortlessly, to be seen this tense reminded him that amidst those accusations, Ms. Roy is still a sentimental human.
Accusations that her facade was deliberate, acting on principles that is shallow. These were like wildfires across Daffodil Street yet it failed to reach him until just this morning.
I have crossed paths with danger and Melissa's trivial disputes. I can console Ms. Roy! While posing a juxtaposition, Klein became heartly hesitant.
Perhaps...
He still recalls her impression of the family vividly. Perhaps due to their initiative and their inherent kindness, Selina was made welcome and belong into the city.
Ms. Roy's background was eluding, yet it does not obscure the fact that she's lonely, even Klein who's a transmigrator couldn't help but share that indescribable feeling.
To be seen as the catalyst of their demise due to being present near them would devastate her.
"Ms. Roy..." at last, he spoke in a low voice. "If it calms you down. I can divine whether the Heath family will be safe."
Selina turned to Klein, her eyes perked up.
"You're able to do that?" she was in disbelief before realizing that currently, she's in the presence of a seer.
"Alright. Then please, tell me."
Klein took out his topaz pendulum. It glints under the coursing light.
Thud!
The carriage trembled for a moment. Selina managed to held on to the window's railings while Klein steadied himself.
"Sorry! There was a bump!" said the coachman behind the steer.
The pendulum was swept away from Klein's hand, landed right before Selina's feet.
"Here." Selina picked up the pendulum and handed it.
While hastily adjusting his coat, Klein brought his top hat closer to him then smiled, "You know Ms. Roy. Certain occasions would disrupt a seer's attempt of divinations.
"In those certain cases, divinations wouldn't be needed as the answer already lies upon us."
After he took the pendulum, he suddenly joked, "If that were always the case, should we kept on disrupting the practitioner? It will be an accident and the answer is given without payments."
"Oh, so your suggestion wasn't actually an exemption?" Selina smiled while half-expecting this.
Klein's smile froze.
"What?" he blurted out. Moments later, he realized. "Wait, no no—you've got it wrong. It is indeed an exemption, I just thought...
Selina chuckled behind her index finger. "I know—thank you... for your concern."
Klein was taken aback. His eyes dazed for a period of time.
Instead of worrying at this point, Selina grew a bit unease from Klein's gaze.
She smiled then lightly teased the gentleman, "Are you going to divine their safety or perhaps indulge in a little staring contest to pass the time?"
Klein quickly snapped back and briskly said, "R-Right, pardon me for that, I'll start divining now."
Here, he didn't waste any time on pondering the lines to cite before lifting the pendulum over his chest.
...
By the reception hall. Klein was the first to enter before Selina.
Rozanne, who was leisurely reading today's paper with a steaming coffee on the side, perked up upon seeing the two.
She lowered the newspaper and instinctively, perhaps due to being a fellow female, she first addressed Selina behind Klein.
"Ms. Roy!" she called while fawning over. "Have you seen the back cover of today's post papers? I failed to see it earlier because I haven't read it entirely before lunch—but! Seeka's novel really went into the cover!
"This calls for another celebration!"
Selina paused and passingly smiled. "I'll plan on that celebration later Ms. Rozanne, I just need to take care of certain things."
She then nudged Klein's coat, telling him to proceed.
Klein took his top hat off briefly, a sign of a polite greeting before leaving shortly after.
Upon reaching a door at the innermost corner of the path leading to Chanis Gate. He knocked on the door three times and waited until a deep voice sounding like a thirty year-old-up muffled across the pane.
Selina and Klein entered. The latter closed the door on the way.
Once inside, they were surprised to see Leonard, also present and was discussing matters with Dunn.
"Oh? Klein and Selina? What are two doing here?" Leonard smiled. Then he added, "And you both entered together... Should there be something you guys want to tell us?"
"What is it?" said Dunn, his eyes resembling a lonely, seclude lake under the night darted on the two.
Selina deliberated her words and looked to Dunn earnestly. "I believe I have mentioned of a dream I had before."
Dunn placed his unlit pipe down and calmly said, "Have you find more explanation for this dream?"
"Yes. I have dreamt of it again yesterday morning. I believe this is what they call a reoccurring dream, a type that might be caused by my astral projection." explained Selina.
"Reoccurring dreams for a beyonder is an intuition for an event." Leonard keenly added. "What have you gained from this second dream?"
Selina exhaled silently.
"The dream seems to be well aware of the Heath family..." her voice trailed off. "And since the dream does know the Heath family, it's also safe to assume that..."
"The tall figure in the dream knows of them as well", continued Dunn.
"Yes." Selina affirmed.
Dunn placed his unlit pipe down. With a trained voice he said, "From Klein's initial dream divination, he had shared to us a crucial part of the dream. The setting.
"That specific layout of the pipeline led us to the Daffodil Street. And since the dream does know the Heath family, it's also safe to assume that the figure are aware of them."
"It leads us to the man named Morroy Roundel." suggested Leonard. "Since, you know, he's near both of you and the Heath family."
Selina nodded firmly. "Not only that, his mental condition is concerning."
Leonard tightened his crossed arms.
His mouth curled as he said, "That's not surprising. To be dethroned from his standing as a wealthy tycoon just by a controversy, it would definitely cultivated vengefulness.
"Whether how that vengefulness sprouts, it was unexpected since we're not previously aware that he's here in the city."
"The documents I've given you Ms. Roy were rummaged from the archives of the church." Dunn enlightened.
"I see..." Selina softly murmured.
Leonard uncrossed his arm and placed a hand to his waist, subsequently he added, "It is quite strange that if it were not for you, we wouldn't have identified him.
"On another note, it's odd how he uses ritualistic magic. Using a totem as the ritual's figure? What evil deity could he be praying to?"
At this moment, Dunn suddenly took out a pocket watch from his coat.
After telling the time, he left the chair and stand up.
"Leonard, get Frye and Seeka to evacuate the area around Daffodil Street through the officials. I will send a telegram for a request to use a Sealed Artifact."
Selina was startled. Subconsciously, she felt a striking sense from his voice.
"Right. Ms. Roy accompany us, we can use another assistance to handle the potions you've procured for us."
...What about me? Klein stood as he watched Leonard left the office and Dunn produced a paper before storming off.
"It seems captain forgot you." a gentle voice spoke from his side.
Selina, who wasn't left and have noticed this turned to Klein.
"Yeah... I guess I should help myself into the carriage." he replied.
"How about helping me choose which potion to bring?" Selina suggested.
She knew the danger, however, seeing that it will be her first time dealing with beyonder matter as an official. She couldn't but feel anxious of her performance.
Klein understood this and decided to accept.
...
15 Daffodil Street.
As the dusk settles beyond the horizon, lamplighters strode about. Each streetlights being opened manually.
"Dear." a voice of a lady somewhere in her forties resounded across the room.
The voice came from a woman with a declining skin structure, who's face however still retained its radiance.
"Could you kindly answer the door while I'm cooking?"
Thud! Thud!
"Alright!" Marl steadily propped himself out of his recliner. "Odelle. Don't run too fast or you'll hurt yourself."
He turned to the little girl skipping steps and speeding up by the hall.
"Okay!" the little girl shriek while playing.
At the door, Marl peeked on peephole and saw two capped officers standing by their porch.
A carriage was waiting by the road as well.
He opened it and said, "How may I help you?"
The two officers, one was a female, and the other a man each turned to him.
The man appeared to be in his twenties sized him up and replied, "Marl Heath correct?"
Marl nodded, "Yes."
"Mr. Heath, you're under arrest for incomplete corporate records. Failing to keep an updated financial statements of your business by the outskirts of West Borough." the man firmly declared.
Marl's expression grew skeptical.
"I'm sorry... Incomplete records? Officer there has to be a mistake. My company's financial records are in ordered and I can assure you..."
"We'll have to take you and your family for detention. Please cooperate quietly." Marl's statement was cut short by the woman.
Marl, under the pressure building up, remained calm and retorted, "Taking my family is off the limits, I'll gladly abide if you let me excuse myself from them."
"No need Mr. Heath. You and your family is being requested at the office." said the policeman.
Marl creased his brows. "What's this have to do with my family?"
"Just please cooperate with us. Your stay won't be prolonged."
Marl hesitated. But upon seeing the grave expression of the two, he began considering.
Then, moments later he asked, "We won't be held long right?"
The policeman nodded.
"Alright." Marl turned and sped to the hall.
"Honey, go with the policemen outside and take the kids!" He raised his voice.
A clang of dropped utensil resound from the kitchen.
"What!?" Martha yelled in shock.
"Just take the kids and go with the officers outside! I'll be there with you!"
Marl rushed to the master bedroom, opened the drawers underneath the wardrobe.
There, he rummaged a few documents and placed each of them inside his suitcase.
As he paced, Martha turned off the gastove and saw her husband dashed for the bedroom.
This alerted her instinctively.
"Odelle! Come here!" she called with controlled softness while taking Marl Jr. out of his cradle.
When the little girl made it to her arms, the girl asked, "Where are we going?"
"Somewhere far from here dear, don't worry I've packed lunch."
In just a few minutes, Martha had reserved the foods she had prepared to a separate container.
By the time Marl went downstairs, his family was already at the porch.
"Alright let's go" he said to Martha.
Terrified, Martha anxiously asked, "Dear what is happening?"
Marl took the hand of his wife and held her close. He lowered his face next to hers and whispered, "I don't know, but I'm certain their act of arresting me is just an excuse.
"Let's cooperate for now, I know that these two are from the Awwa County Department."
They boarded the carriage, carrying the crest of the local police department.
...
The trackless carriage drove pass each street and arrived at Unit 17 Daffodil Street.
Outside the window, the house bore no lights. The curtains were drawn and the glass windows heaped with dust.
When they arrived, the surrounding neighborhood had died down, as if they've taken an early rest.
Thankfully, Klein's siblings and their residence were a few blocks away from here, or else, they might've been disturbed.
"It seems to be the right place." said Leonard, seated behind the steer.
Inside of the carriage, Dunn took out a vial. It was the Night Inducing potion Selina had made.
The effects allows Dunn to have a deep dream, increasing the concentration.
"Stay here. Once I've pulled him into a dream, you can all enter."
Selina was already informed of their sequences and operations by Klein. This helps her in navigating herself during a confrontation.
"Klein, divine the situation." said Dunn facing him.
Klein nodded and held the topaz pendulum high.
After mumbling seven consecutive times, the topaz gem began turning.
"It's dangerous but greatly manageable." he answered.
"Alright. Keep the sealed artifact with you in case of danger." Dunn advised once more before ingesting the potion.
Royale is with them, she held the suitcase containing the Sealed Artifact 3-0137: Dream Catcher.
A Sealed Artifact capable of interference regarding dreams and nightmares.
As soon as Dunn fell into a state of slumber, cueing the members that he had succeeded in pulling the target into a dream. Klein and the rest began moving.
