The next morning:
Celeste let out a long sigh as she stepped into their bedroom. The scent of Dominic lingered around. Clean soap, and something distinctly him that wrapped around her like invisible arms. She dropped herself on the bed, with her body sinking into the mattress as if all the tension of last night confession finally demanded release.
"Celeste?"
Her head snapped up at the sound of his voice. She sat up straight, her eyes darting around the large bedroom.
"Dominic?" Her voice broke on his name.
"I'm in the bathroom, baby."
Relief surged through her chest, warm and heady, making her heart ache. She pushed off the bed and crossed the room quickly, as though some invisible pull dragged her.
The bathroom door was half-open, with steam curling out of the shower space. She stepped inside quietly, her gaze softening the moment she saw him.
