Chapter 48 - Auction part 7

Max and Sophia were amazed to see the food producer sell for 3,400 gold coins, as they had expected it to go for only up to 2,000 gold coins.

They soon realized the person had brought it as the buyout price for the bread sales, which could continue until the new food processor was ready.

It had been mentioned that the next machine wouldn't be completed for a few weeks, giving them time to sell the bread citywide and gather more coins to afford the alchemy services they currently couldn't access as the city's alchemists were busy producing defense items for the monster siege scheduled for next week.

Max and Sophia waited for everyone to settle their emotions after the intense bidding, which had stirred up the crowd. Once they felt the atmosphere had calmed down from the aftermath, they quietly brought the next auction item onto the stage.

"Well then, I once again congratulate the person who has successfully bid on the food processor, and now I will move on to the next item," Max announced as he slowly removed the cloth from the tray, revealing the item.

It was round bead which looked like a seed as it has small stem coming out from one end.

Sophia noticed it had caught everyone's attention, so she jumped straight into the introduction without any suspense.

"As everyone has observed this is a seed from the tree which can help many ship captains to eat fresh food on the ocean during their voyage."

"This seed is from the bread fruit which will grow 100 fruits per day and get ripe upon plucking them for to eat."

"Every night, the tree will start flowering, and by morning, the fruits will begin to grow. By evening, they will be ready to pluck and enjoy."

Sophia then continued, "We currently have about 100 seeds, which are now being auctioned. To simplify the process and avoid wasting time, the auction house will take bids simultaneously for all 100 seeds."

"The top 100 bidders will receive the seeds, and we will issue the names later to ensure transparency and prove there were no backstage deals. So, let's start the auction."

As soon as the words were spoken, a huge screen displayed the starting bid and the continuous bids for the seeds, along with the top 100 bidders likely to win. This heightened the bidding competition, with many only reacting when their bids were surpassed. It was only later that some realized this style of bidding had caused them to spend more money than intended.

Many quietly withdrew from the bidding after realizing it had turned into a battle of wealth among the bigwigs, eager to show their might. Max was thrilled to see the bidding heat up, as he was the one who supplied the seeds for the auction.

After receiving his money from the auction, he would have enough money to purchase the resources needed to upgrade his ship before the next round of disasters began. While he managed to survive this disaster by staying on the island, he lacked confidence in reaching the island in time to escape the next one before it intensified to a late stage, where survival would become extremely difficult.

Soon, five minutes had passed, and most of the bids were completed, with only the final bids trying to increase for a few lower-priced seeds in a last attempt at luck. Max gave them five seconds to finalize their bids before he announced the end of the auction for this item.

Soon, the screen displayed the 100 people who had won the bid along with their seat numbers, and cheers erupted from the audience.

Each seed was sold for a premium price of 1000 gold coins, not because of its rarity but due to intense competition, which drove up its value.

The VIPs who had won auction items had their items delivered to their rooms, while the regular participants were instructed to collect their items from the backstage.

Soon, the next item was brought onto the stage: a book with fiery red inscription on its cover.

Max picked up the book and held it out to show everyone, waiting for them to clearly see the description on it, which made everyone gasp in surprise.

"The next item up for auction is a collection of meditation methods designed for extraordinary individuals to progress without relying on attribute fruits or luck, but solely through repeated practice," Sophia explained.

"The method we are showcasing is the fiery red breath meditation, based on the fire element. It boosts meditation speed for fire element talent users, enhancing their strength quickly in the beginning and steadily during the middle stages of the extraordinary levels."

"Let's start the auction with the starting price of the mediation book set at 1,000 gold coins," Sophia declared.

"5,000 gold coins!" exclaimed the person seated on the right side of the VIP box, raising the bid to five times the initial price.

Soon, the price skyrocketed from five times to fifty times, and gradually the auction house fell silent as the cost became too exorbitant for many to even consider.

The first meditation book was announced as sold for 50,000 gold coins, leaving everyone in awe.

As the crowd felt disappointed at missing the chance to obtain the meditation book, their attention shifted to another item—a green book with wind inscriptions—being brought onto the stage.

The audience watched it greedily, but no one dared move from their seats. The faint bloodlust they displayed in their desire to possess the item triggered the auction array, which locked onto them, making them feel as though death awaited if they tried to steal it. This caused everyone to sweat nervously as they watched the frightened individuals with unease.

Max waved his hand, resetting the array to normal. He apologized to the audience and explained that the array could detect bloodlust and would eliminate anyone with the intent to harm the host or participants in the house. He urged everyone to suppress their greed and killing intent.

After the auction house fell into pin-drop silence due to the revelation, Max began explaining the book to lift the mood of the audience.

He revealed that the book detailed the Swift Wind Meditation Method, which is beneficial for wind-power awakened users. He added that it could help them walk silently like an assassin and erase their traces with the aid of the wind.

After a brief introduction rekindled everyone's interest in the auction item, Sophia initiated the bidding process, causing the previously silent auction house to burst with excitement.

Knowing that no one could forcibly take items from the auction, participants began bidding enthusiastically, borrowing money from friends and drafting contracts that worked to their advantage.
