Chapter 145 - Chapter 146: Occupying Wano Country, Pluton

After sweeping Mary Geoise once with clairvoyance and x-ray sight to search for Imu and coming up empty, Link wasn't in a hurry to continue.

Violet, suppressed within her mental space, witnessed everything.

So long as Link's actions went unnoticed, it meant no one in Mary Geoise had sensed the peeping of the Giro Giro no Mi.

The reason Link had waited so long to move was the fear that some special ability might detect the powers of the Giro Giro no Mi and the Doa Doa no Mi.

Since no one seemed able to notice, he could leave the surveillance of Mary Geoise to Violet from here on.

Link then said to Pudding, "Pudding, I'm taking over your body."

"Okay."

Not being possessed by Link for the first time and already one of his wings, Pudding nodded obediently.

Thus Link used the Spirit Transformation Technique again, his soul flying into Pudding's body.

Immediately he began using the Memo Memo no Mi to brainwash the unconscious, trussed-up Yamato.

Yamato's worship of Kozuki Oden came from witnessing Oden's boiling execution as a child.

Link directly erased part of those memories, and merely tweaked the memories about picking up Oden's logbook.

He wasn't going to change Yamato's personality. If he had to rebuild her from scratch, he might as well eliminate the original, take her Devil Fruit, clone a new Yamato, or craft a Yamato with the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu.

Finally, Link removed the memory of "liberating Wano."

Thus a new Yamato was born—an abused child with no bond to her father, who grew strong while yearning for the adventurous life in Oden's journal and dreamed only of leaving Onigashima to sail the seas.

When the edits were done, Link's soul returned to his own body.

Before unsealing Yamato, Link drew a vial of blood.

If the brainwashing failed, there was no need to keep the original. He'd just clone one and raise her from the start.

The Impaler Pirates no longer lacked top-tier combat power anyway.

Aside from the early women who followed Karina, the later female recruits mattered little to him emotionally.

They were simply too strong, so he collected them.

Violet and Rebecca were such cases, and Yamato was the same.

Especially now that he had perfected cloning, he felt even more indifferent.

If the original disobeyed, discard her and produce a flawless copy—one without the original's memories—and raise her anew.

After finishing with Yamato, Link released her seals.

But with her stamina not yet recovered, Yamato remained unconscious.

Leaving Yamato in Pudding's care, Link went to the Snake Empress and had her use the Fuwa Fuwa no Mi to lift Amazon Lily into the sky.

He was moving again.

This time, he would relocate Amazon Lily to the seas of Wano, taking the place of the sunken Onigashima.

The Impaler Pirates would assume the Beasts Pirates' rule over Wano Country.

Such a resource-rich, large island was extraordinarily rare in the pirate world.

Beyond gold, seastone, and other ores, Wano also hid one of the three Ancient Weapons capable of destroying the world—Pluton.

How could a treasure mountain like that be left to Kozuki Momonosuke? Did he deserve it?

Naturally, this hoard would be taken into his own hands.

Two days later, Amazon Lily descended from the sky.

Watching the island pass overhead above Wano, Queen, still overseeing quarry prisoners in Udon while eating red bean soup, muttered, "The final judgment has come at last."

He had already learned of Onigashima's sinking and Kaido's death from King.

With his goal gone, King had vanished.

But Queen hadn't left, because unlike the diehards King and Jack, Queen was a smart man.

He was precisely that—one of the most outstanding scientists on the seas.

From MADS to the Beasts Pirates, he had always sailed smoothly.

Smarter than that fool Caesar and less stubborn than Vegapunk, Queen, like Doflamingo, could tell from the fact that Link hadn't immediately cleaned up after the fight—and had even spared King—that the new "strongest man of the era" wasn't some pirate-hating zealot.

Or perhaps, now that he sat on the throne of the strongest, he no longer needed that persona.

With perfect cloning tech from MADS in his hands and eyes set far ahead, Link would hardly turn away loyal service.

Having changed bosses twice, Queen didn't mind changing once more.

Soon, good news arrived for Queen.

Amazon Lily settled on the now-calmed sea, and an airship loaded with women flew from the island over Wano.

Then the strong of Wano were ruthlessly crushed.

Whether native Wano fighters or the Beasts Pirates stationed there, the surviving officers and the Tobi Roppo all had their hearts confiscated by Yafei Landora.

Even Queen was no exception.

Those who tried to resist were either turned to stone by Hancock or instantly dealt with by Perona.

After taking the hearts of those who resisted, Nami—whose unrivaled sensing covered all of Wano—pinched them at once, letting everyone feel their lives in another's grasp.

Under Hancock's overawing might-makes-right deterrence, those whom Kaido had tamed, cowed, or who knew how to endure quickly submitted.

Kurozumi Orochi, ruler of Wano in name, wasn't so lucky.

Hancock simply petrified him, to await Link's judgment.

At that moment, Link was also in Wano—but not in person, only in spirit.

Violet, traveling with the team, was using clairvoyance and x-ray sight to peer beneath Wano.

A super-colossal warship, nothing like a wooden craft of the age of sail but forged of steel, lay buried within the island of Wano.

That super steel warship was the most sinister vessel in shipbuilding lore, known as one of the three Ancient Weapons said to possess the power to destroy the world—Pluton.

Searching for Pluton was also one of the reasons Link wanted Violet.
