Lola smiled as she pulled the blanket over the twins' bodies. After the wedding ceremony, she had enjoyed herself thoroughly—laughing, dancing, and downing a couple of drinks. Her mood had lifted even more when she saw Amala, Haji, and… well, Silo. Poor Silo drowned his heartbreak in alcohol all night, while Lola proudly paraded her hand around to make sure everyone saw the ring Atlas placed on it.
Everyone else had fun with games and drinks. The highlight of the night was the betting pool Penny started on about anything and everything. Lola joined for the fun of it… and, like always, she lost. A great reminder that Lola's luck had always been consistently terrible ninety percent of the time.
"But my luck…" she murmured, her cheeks turning a faint pink. "I don't mind having none, since my children seemed to have taken all of it."
