Chapter 171 - Clark's Plan

Late at night.

Inside a hidden outdoor prison in Germany.

Clark sat in a chair, his expression serious.

After the conversation with the man who claimed to be Dr. Schmidt, he had received a lot of information.

But every piece of information was enough to shock anyone.

First, Clark learned that he was in Germany.

Secondly, judging by the man's military uniform, it was highly probable that they were in World War II.

Using his X-ray vision, Clark also knew exactly where he was. He wanted to rescue the innocent people trapped here.

Writing down his to-do list with pen and paper: First, rescue these poor people from harm. Second, find a way to return to his own timeline.

But every task was incredibly difficult. Without his friend Gino to give him advice, Clark felt like he was surrounded by a thick fog, unable to see the way forward.

"Crack~"

Footsteps approached from outside the iron door. Clark immediately lowered his head and used his heat vision to burn the paper.

"Tap, tap~"

The iron door gently knocked and then opened. The man who called himself Dr. Schmidt walked into Clark's room with a smile.

"Hello, Clark."

Dr. Schmidt smiled, pulled a chair from the corner, and sat down. His eyes, behind his smooth glasses, were fixed on Clark. "Just now, something interesting spread across the world."

"Japan Island, it's been blown up."

Silence. After a brief pause, Clark's big eyes widened suddenly.

"Japan Island was blown up?"

"That's right. The entire island sank into the sea." Dr. Schmidt stared intently at Clark's eyes, hoping to glean some clues.

"Japan was blown up."

Clark repeated the words, but in his mind, he recalled a conversation he once had with Gino during a history class.

They had talked about the history of World War II, and Gino had said that if he could travel back in time to World War II, he would definitely blow up Japan Island, since it was full of demons back then.

Clark still remembered Gino's serious expression. A ridiculous thought arose in his mind: Could it be Gino?

Thinking about his friend's world-destroying abilities, it didn't seem so surprising if he was the one who did it.

Dr. Schmidt sighed,

"This news has swept through the world like a storm.

The White House, the Kremlin, Berlin… heads of state from every country learned this shocking news almost simultaneously, whether sooner or later."

"Especially our great Austrian Painter." Dr. Schmidt's lips curled into a mocking smile. "Perhaps he's currently throwing a tantrum in his 'palace'."

After all, the destruction of an entire island was a truly fantastical event that hit everyone like a hammer blow.

Mustache had lost an ally, greatly increasing the obstacles to his goal of unifying the world.

"Do you know the guy who destroyed the island?" Dr. Schmidt pushed up his glasses, trying to get some information out of Clark.

But, Clark just shook his head, his expression complex: "I don't know."

"I don't know."

Steve watched the handsome young man in a well-fitting black suit, holding a gentleman's cane, and wearing a fedora, standing at his front door, smiling at him.

"I didn't know you'd look even more handsome in a suit," Steve said, shaking his head in sincere admiration.

For men, complimenting a woman's beauty might just be polite flattery. But, if he compliments a man's handsomeness (besides himself), it's genuine.

"What? Do you think gods should be out-of-touch old fogeys?"

Gino took off his fedora and hung it on the coat rack, humming a little tune as he sat in a chair and cut off a piece of steak to savor: "Not bad."

"You, you like it, then," Steve scratched his head, looking like he wanted to say something but hesitated.

"Let me guess."

Gino put down his knife and fork, propping his chin on his hands, and stared at Steve. "You want something from me?"

"Y-yes," Steve said, lowering his head in embarrassment.

"Tell me, do you want endless wealth, or a hundred blonde, blue-eyed beauties to be madly in love with you?"

"If it's the former, I'll take you to rob the nearby bank. For the latter, I'll contact the demon lords of this universe and have them send you a hundred Hell Succubuses, each with their own unique charm."

"No, no, no, Mr. God, I don't want those things." Steve, still a fledgling, blushed and waved his hands in refusal.

Gino's lips curled into a smile. No matter which Marvel universe this was, it was always entertaining to see Steve flustered.

Steve sighed, looking at his small arms and legs. "I just want to know if there's a way for me to become strong. I want to join the army and fight against evil."

Not bad, Steve. He wasn't swayed by beauty or wealth.

Gino chuckled. Based on the inertia of time, it wouldn't be long before Steve followed the path most universe Steves took: participating in the Super Soldier Program to become Captain America.

But Gino also had his own plans. This Marvel Universe held many good things. Furthermore, he needed to utilize some of them to return to the DC Universe.

After all, the DC Universe had major events and reboots happening constantly. He had to get back quickly to avoid the embarrassment of having his home stolen.

"So, since you want to join the military, come with me. Let's go outside and take a look."

"Take a look?" Steve scratched his head, not understanding the connection between a stroll and an opportunity to join the military.

"The world is unpredictable, Steve. It's actually like a huge, makeshift theater."

Gino saw Steve's concerns and patted his shoulder. "In short, trust me."

Okay, after all, Gino was a god who had descended from the heavens. Steve ultimately chose to trust him and walked alongside the youth on the streets of Brooklyn.

Because it was wartime, the streets were sparsely populated.

As they walked, many American girls who passed by couldn't help but look at them with disdain.

The prevailing social trend was to join the military, and those who didn't were naturally looked down upon.

However, when they got a good look at Gino's appearance, those expressions of disdain instantly turned into shyness and infatuation.

Groups of girls chatted amongst themselves, hoping to catch the youth's attention.

Steve, standing beside him, had never experienced such treatment. Compared to the tall and handsome Gino, he felt like a goblin from a Grimm's fairy tale, a source of amusement.

[Negative Emotions from Steve: +100, +100…]

Not sure what had gotten Steve down again, Gino led him through the crowd. Soon, the young man stopped in front of a massive building.

"Where is this?"

Steve looked up at the words "Science and Technology Exhibition Hall" on the building, a little hesitant.

"This is where your destiny changes, Steve."

Gino smiled, a glint in his eyes.

He remembered that it was here that Steve, in a conversation with Dr. Abraham Erskine, a biological scientist who had fled from Germany, revealed his kind character. This gave him the opportunity to participate in the Super Soldier Program, thereby changing his destiny.
