Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Eldest Brother of the Fragments... You Wouldn't Want...

My name is "Shuò." I am the consciousness that "Sui" transformed into after its death.

Before I had stabilized my own existence, there was an impulse that was constantly driving me to annex other authorities and become the next "Sui."

But I didn't want to become the next "Sui," so I divided my authority, allowing them to gain self-awareness and disperse to various parts of the world. Perhaps we will never meet again, or perhaps we will meet by chance, and they will become my younger siblings.

But all of this was a problem to be considered after I had stabilized my own existence.

That's what I originally thought.

Until this guy suddenly appeared.

When I was delirious, he seemed to have done something to make me fall unconscious.

By the time I woke up again, he told me that a year had passed, and I had successfully stabilized my own existence, becoming an individual independent of "Sui."

He had a smile on his face that I couldn't understand, and then...

I saw a stick on his shoulder. A rope was tied to the end of the stick, and on the rope were strung various shapes and sizes of... dragon bubbles?!

Shuò's eyes widened instantly. He seemed to see the figure of a fisherman who had tied up several fish with the same technique in the person before him.

Feeling the familiar aura of the dragon bubbles behind Hong Yu, Shuò had to admit that the "Sui" fragments he had just divided not long ago, perhaps not even a year ago, had been found by this guy before him.

"You bastard, who the hell are you?!" Shuò shouted at Hong Yu.

His brows furrowed, still unable to make sense of the situation.

Think about it, you don't know why you can't help but shudder when you see this person before you clench his fist, and after you wake up, the other party is using a fishing method to dangle your brothers and sisters in front of you...

At this moment, Shuò had not yet become the calm and steady Chongyue of a thousand years later. He had not traveled through Yan, nor had he seen the vicissitudes of the world, so he still maintained the impulsiveness of a hot-blooded youth.

He maintained his due vigilance towards Hong Yu, and then he...

Was KO'd by Hong Yu.

Shuò went for it!

Hong Yu threw a punch!

Shuò went down!

It was something like that.

My authority... I can't use it?!

Is it sealed?!

Shuò clutched the bump on his head, only to realize with astonishment that he couldn't use his authority.

And the person on the side shook his fist, smiling at the young Chongyue, that is, Shuò, who was sitting on the ground, clutching his head.

"You should know your identity, right, Shuò?"

Shuò ignored Hong Yu, just silently glaring at him.

"As a fragment left behind by 'Sui,' a single misstep could lead to you being hunted by all of Yan again. Even if you are powerful and think you won't be defeated and killed by Yan, you will never have a day of peace. What's more..."

Hong Yu walked to Shuò's side, patted his shoulder, and smiled. "You wouldn't want your little brothers and sisters to end up in the situation I described, would you? Eldest brother of the 'Sui' fragments? You may have your own confidence... but what about your younger siblings?"

Shuò slapped away Hong Yu's hand on his shoulder and said coldly, "I'm not interested in taking revenge on Yan for 'Sui,' I assure you."

"This isn't something that can be solved by your assurance. It's about what the world will think, what the emperor will think, and what Yan will think," Hong Yu said with a smile, not reacting much to Shuò's youthful vigor. "Once Yan believes that it can no longer control your destiny, suspicion and doubt will breed in people's hearts. At that time, your future... will no longer be something you can decide for yourselves."

Shuò was stunned. He had just been born into this world not long ago and didn't yet understand the complexity of humans. He just found Hong Yu's words surprisingly persuasive.

"Tsk... so what do you want? Let me say this first, I can't agree to any excessive demands. Also, let them go," Shuò said, pointing to the other eleven fragments that were still being dangled by Hong Yu, having been beaten into dragon bubbles by the "Personality Correction Fist."

"Okay," Hong Yu took out the Prefect's token that had been hanging at his waist and showed it to Shuò. "I am the Prefect of the Yan Sui Regulator, responsible for managing all matters related to 'Sui.' If I want to protect you, it's just a matter of a word."

"I'd like to see who would dare to say you have rebellious intentions with just one word from me, the Prefect," Hong Yu smiled and patted Shuò's shoulder. "Of course, I trust you very much, Shuò."

Shuò once again brushed away Hong Yu's hand, then looked at his eyes, which were obscured by a silk blindfold, and said, "You said all that just to get me to go with you obediently, right? Fine, what do you need me to do? Be used as a weapon of war, or..."

"I don't know!"

"?" Shuò was stunned. "What did you say?"

"I said I don't know. I'm just in charge of you all. That is to say, as long as I'm around, and you don't cause any earth-shattering trouble, you can do whatever you want," Hong Yu said with his usual smile, looking at Shuò. "Anyway, I'm the one who calls the shots at the Sui Regulator. It has nothing to do with the old emperor. So basically, as long as you don't rebel, don't destroy the world or anything, you can do whatever you want."

Looking at Shuò's gradually stupefied face, Hong Yu couldn't be bothered to explain anything further. He just left a sentence, "Why don't you just follow me and see?"

Then, Hong Yu walked away without looking back, carrying his "fishing rod" with the dragon bubbles on it.

And Shuò, after a brief stupor, hurriedly caught up with the not-so-far-away Hong Yu. He asked Hong Yu, "Then where are you going?"

"I don't know!"

————————————————

"You seem to have a complaint about every institution in Yan. For so many years, I've heard you criticize almost every institution in Yan, except for the Sui Regulator."

Lin looked at the indecisive Wei Yenwu opposite him and urged, "Make your move. Don't always come to me with no real business, just complaining about your recent troubles."

"If I come to you with no real business, isn't that a good thing? If there's anything that requires me to come to you for discussion, then Lungmen is probably in for a major incident," Wei Yenwu said with a smile, stroking his dragon whiskers.

"Heh, I don't think you getting caught hiding your secret stash of money by Lady Fumizuki is something that would cause a major incident in Lungmen..." Lin said with contempt.

Tsk... how is the mayor of Lungmen kneeling on seventeen washboards until they break because he was caught hiding his secret stash not a big deal?!

Wei Yenwu's face stiffened, then he coughed and changed the subject.

"The Sui Regulator?" Wei Yenwu's expression changed. "I really can't say I have any complaints about the Sui Regulator. My brother and I used to sneak away from our tutor to play at the Sui Regulator when we were young."

"The discipline at the Sui Regulator can be said to be the most open in all of Yan's officialdom. Some of them don't even wear official robes when they attend court..." Wei Yenwu recalled.

"Oh? The emperor doesn't get angry?" Lin asked curiously.

"I told you, my brother would also sneak away to the Sui Regulator when he was young. Perhaps most emperors can't stand the solemn atmosphere in the palace when they are young and run off to the Sui Regulator?" Wei Yenwu laughed. "I heard that when the Sui Regulator was first established, the first Prefect never wore official robes, and rarely even came to court. There isn't even a portrait of that legendary figure in the palace."

"Oh? I heard that the current Prefect of the Sui Regulator is the second fragment of 'Sui.' Doesn't he have a portrait of the first Prefect?"

"He got it from his younger sister, the most senior painter in Yan. Even my brother has rarely seen her... I guess only a very few lucky people and the other members of Sui can collect her paintings."

The atmosphere fell silent for a moment.

Lin spoke up, "Old Wei, did you steal one?"

"Ahem..."
