"O.M.G! Derek is here! He's here!" I heard the girl's squeal as soon as he alighted from the taxi. I was so glad I'd gotten down before they saw him. Only the moon goddess knows what they would have been thinking if they had seen us together.
"Good morning, Derek. It's nice to see you once again. I need you to sit next to me in class today, please."
Matilda spoke with her arms encircling Derek. She is my worst bully, and I've been making every effort to get away from her. I glanced back at them, and to my relief, they were unaware that Derek and I had just arrived in the same taxi.
When I brought up the idea of rejecting Derek, I was lucky to see some guys walking and discussing on the school field.
I knew they'd call the girls and alert them once they saw me with Derek. I had no choice but to end my conversation with Derek by getting off the cab immediately. I pretended that I had never met him, changed my route, and headed for the school building. I was lucky that the girls noticed Derek stepping out of the taxi by himself at that very moment, and they swarmed around him, flirting and wishing to say hello.
I scuttled into the school building as quickly as I could and I was glad to see Bonnie. I rushed and gave her a tight hug like I haven't seen her in a long time.
"I'm so happy to see you. Happy resumption. Tsk. Tsk." Bonnie mumbled, winking and tapping my back gently. She realized immediately that something was wrong when she saw that I was unwilling to pull away from her hug. She pulled me backwards and broke the hug, giving me a close look filled with suspicions.
Both of us observed as numerous girls gathered around Derek till they entered the premises. Derek locked eyes with me, and I looked away quickly before turning to face Bonnie.
With a narrowed gaze and a nod, Bonnie conveyed to me that she was suspicious of something between Derek and me. That she's beginning to suspect doesn't surprise me. She's brilliant, so she can always detect when something is wrong with me. .
When the bell jiggled, she dragged my hand and took me to the class.
"I know something is wrong. I know you have a lot to tell me. Trust me, I'll make sure I pay close attention and see what I can do to help you," She whispered to me as soon as Mr Richard stepped into the classroom.
Everywhere was silent as a graveyard and we all kept our gaze at Mr Richard's prying eyes. He repositioned his glasses and reached for the white chalk on the board's edge.
"Bring out your textbooks!" He ordered and we all turned to our desk, removing our books at once except for me. I realized my mind was so occupied with a lot of things that I forgot to bring my textbooks. Everyone's tables were occupied with their large textbooks except mine.
Bonnie turned to stare at me and I looked back at her, biting my lips as worry overwhelmed me. Mr Richard was someone that detest students being unserious or messing with his subject.
"Where is your textbook, Isabel. You know how Mr Richard is." Bonnie whispered as she lowered her head in front of the student sitting in front of her so she wouldn't be seen talking by Mr Richard.
I glanced at her from the side, trying to mutter my responses for her, my lips twitching.
"No side talks!"
Mr Richard exclaimed after writing the word "Geography" on the board. He looked back at us, casting doubtful glances in each of our directions.
Gulping down the lump in my throat, I turned to face Derek, who had a woman clinging to him like a leech. It was no other than Matilda. I knew she'd always want to get his attention at all costs.
What a bitch she is! She was once crushing on Mason. When Mason didn't have her time, she left for Enzo and now she's trying to get Derek's attention.
"Why don't you have your textbook with you?" Mr Richard asked in his high pitched voice as soon as he approached me. I was forced to snap out of my reverie and I shifted my gaze at his piercing blue eyes.
"I– I" I mumbled, thinking of an answer to give but I trailed off Midway.
Mr Richard shook his head in disbelief and said to me, "Detention. You'll be detained after school hours. Now sit down!"
I took a seat and swallowed the lump in my throat. I heard my classmates, especially the girls, laughing lightly and chortling. They never showed affection or concern for me. When they bullied me, I've always been miserable, but Bonnie is a beautiful person who makes me happy. She often assured me that they were jealous of my beauty but I think it was beyond that.
"So today, we'll be looking at Rocks!" Mr Richard disclosed as he peered into the flipping pages of his large textbook.
I smacked my forehead, feeling sad, bored, angry, tired all at once. When I slipped my hands off my face, I saw Derek's green eyes staring at me.
I smelled his musky lavender scent. It filled my nostrils and it seemed like it was pulling me closer to him. I just recalled that I haven't rejected him. As long as we haven't Rejected each other, I'll always be craving his scent. I shook my head and averted my gaze away from him, using my fingers to scribble on my desk.
"Hey you!" Mr. Richard screamed once more, startling me out of my reverie and giving me a chill.
"You didn't bring your textbook. You didn't submit your assignment and now you aren't paying attention? Do you want me to double your detention? Should I make it two days or two weeks?"
I shook my head at his suggestion, not wanting any of it.
"Good! Then pay attention!"
After Mr Richard said lastly before making his way back to the front of the class. I sighed and buried my fingers into my hair, disheveling it as anger overwhelmed me.
Truth be told; I don't know what exactly is wrong with me. I'm tired, angry, exhausted and moody. What can I do? Am I feeling this way because Derek is my mate?

During break hours…
"Hey!"
Bonnie called after I finished writing in my diary. I turned to face her and she flashed me a warm smile.
"Can you tell me everything that's bothering you? You look like you've been thinking. No. What am I even saying? You don't look like you've been thinking, you actually have been thinking, so tell me. What's bothering you? Is it Derek?"
I hesitated as soon as she mentioned Derek's name. When I saw Derek approaching with girls around him as usual, I grabbed Bonnie's hand at once.
"What's wrong?" Bonnie asked with furrowed brows, getting all confused.
"We can't discuss it here. Let's go to the library!"
"O. Okay," Bonnie said with a shrug, her eyes were on Derek till she followed me out of the classroom.
