The expressions on the faces of Pegasus and Bakura were closely watched by the duelists around them. The duelists who didn't possess Millennium Items could only look at each other in confusion. At the same time, their interest in this "Higher World" grew immensely!
This Higher World! It truly seemed to have everything!
Mysterious deck profiles! Incredible duels! Videos of counterfeit cards! Banned card discussions...
Realizing this, the entire world of Duel Monsters grew restless.
What other kinds of bizarre video content would appear next?
In the GX World.
In this parallel world where there was at least some understanding of the Millennium Items, the entire Duel Academy was in an uproar after seeing the effects of the seven counterfeit Millennium Item cards.
"Whoa! What was that? Do fake cards of the Millennium Items actually exist?"
"The designers at Mr. Yu's counterfeit card company are freaking geniuses! Why do these cards look so interesting?"
"Uh, interesting, maybe, but they don't seem to have any real game logic."
"True, it's just for fun. If you're using fake cards, you can probably only duel against other people using fake cards, right?"
"..."
After a round of discussion, the students gradually calmed down. Although they were shocked that the legendary Millennium Items had been made into counterfeit cards in the Higher World, they realized that as long as they couldn't be used in official duels, these so-called fake cards were just for entertainment.
"Amazing! I wonder what else we'll see from Mr. Yu's world!"
"I wonder if there are any counterfeit HERO cards?"
Jaden Yuki, however, was very interested in this short video series. He was also curious to see what kind of counterfeit HERO cards might be created.
As for the other worlds, they had little to no concept of the Millennium Items. So, when they saw these counterfeit cards, they were only momentarily stunned. They marveled at how ridiculously broken the effects were, but as soon as they learned the cards were unusable in proper duels, they returned to their normal mindset.
After all, if you can't use them, what's the point of being so fake and powerful?
In the Main World.
After observing the reactions from the three worlds, Yusei Hoshi was very satisfied, especially with the enthusiastic discussions sparked in the DM and GX worlds about the Millennium Items.
As expected, the original owners of the Millennium Items couldn't contain themselves after watching. Some, like Pegasus with his Millennium Eye, complained that turning them into cards was a pure downgrade. Others, like Bakura with his Millennium Ring, believed the card versions were much better and easier to use.
Amid these discussions, Yusei Hoshi collected his reward for the video and immediately moved to enable the chat function for the next world: the ZEXAL world.
"Alright, just about there!"
"Let's see how much this software wants to unlock the ZEXAL world features."
After a quick search, Yusei found the option. The price had doubled from before, now costing 4,000 yuan!
But along with the price increase came an additional feature unlock. Yusei squinted at the screen, finally understanding what it was.
"A... Card Gifting function?"
"Does this mean..."
"I can send deck builds from my world to a designated user through this software?"
"Wait a minute."
"Could it be? I can gift decks to the people in these chat groups?"
The thought intrigued him. Yusei immediately spent the required amount to unlock the new function.
As soon as the unlock was successful, a notification appeared on his phone screen.
[Congratulations, user Yusei Hoshi, for successfully unlocking the ZEXAL World Chat function.]
[Congratulations, user Yusei Hoshi, for successfully unlocking the Deck Gifting function.]
[To better experience this feature, you will be gifted 2 decks for testing purposes.]
With the message, Yusei had officially unlocked the new feature. Following that, information for two decks—[Utopia/Hope]and[Galaxy-Eyes]—appeared in his system.
"Galaxy-Eyes and Utopia, huh?"
"Interesting."
"Let's see what this 'gifting' is all about!"
He opened the ZEXAL chat group, and messages immediately began to scroll by.
Yuma Tsukumo: "So, does any duelist here know what a Millennium Item is?"
Kite Tenjo: "They're useless. Cards that can't be used in a duel. Why are you so focused on them, Yuma?"
Tori Meadows: "Umm, has anyone else noticed something strange? I thought I just heard a voice..."
Rio Kastle: "Not me. You probably misheard, Tori. By the way, where did my brother run off to?"
After reading the discussion from the Xyz world, Yusei coughed and looked at Rio Kastle's name. Of all the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series, he had to admit, Rio was his favorite.
Wait, does this software have a 'friend request' feature?
Yusei thought about it and experimentally clicked on Rio Kastle's profile picture.
Only one option appeared: "Gift Deck."
There were no other functions. This left Yusei a little disappointed. He had hoped to add her and see if he could private message her. Perhaps the feature hadn't been fully unlocked yet.
"Well, let's chat with them first!"
Yusei took a deep breath and began to send his message.
Yusei Hoshi: "It's a pleasure to have successfully connected to the ZEXAL world."
Yusei Hoshi: "I am from the Higher World, and I am the one controlling the system that broadcasts all these videos to you."
Yusei Hoshi: "My name is Yusei Hoshi. If you have any questions about the upcoming content, you can direct them to me."
In the ZEXAL World.
The sudden sound of an unfamiliar male voice silenced all the duelists who had been joking around. As they processed Yusei's words, a chill ran down the spines of many. Some duelists stared at the screen with expressions of pure shock.
The controller from the Higher World?
Yuma Tsukumo and Astral's faces changed as well.
According to him, all of this video content... was under his control?!
Was this real? Was this an auditory hallucination? But if it was, it couldn't be possible that both he and Astral were hearing the same thing, could it?
There was only one possibility: the voice was real!
Yuma Tsukumo: "What do you mean? Are you saying all those previous videos—the Tenyi Swordsoul, the counterfeit Millennium Item cards, the Stardust Dragon vs. Red Dragon Archfiend duel..."
Yuma Tsukumo: "...that was all your doing?"
Tori Meadows: "Ah! Yuma, don't scare me! Are we being controlled by a Higher World?"
Astral: "Perhaps it is true. I believe you, Mr. Yu. After all, the universe is vast. I myself come from the Astral World."
Hearing their dialogue, Yusei was slightly taken aback. He had expected Astral to be skeptical, but he believed him without hesitation!
And that wasn't all. Yuma's reaction also changed dramatically.
Yuma Tsukumo: "I believe you too! If it's possible, Mr. Yu, could I see how Number 39: Utopia performs in the Higher World?"
Yuma Tsukumo: "To be honest, my deck is centered around Utopia, and I've poured my heart and soul into building it."
Astral: "If you can, could you tell us what the pinnacle of Xyz Summoning is in your world?"
Astral: "And is there any information about other Number cards?"
...
Yusei's mouth twitched. Wow. These guys were already making requests of him. Logically, Tori's shocked reaction was the more appropriate one, wasn't it? But Yuma and Astral, having already encountered beings from other worlds, were much easier to convince.
Yusei Hoshi: "Of course. But this time, I'm doing something different."
Yusei Hoshi: "I will gift two decks from our world to you for a test."
Yusei Hoshi: "And your duel will be broadcast to the other dueling worlds for their reference."
Yusei Hoshi: "The decks are [Number 39: Utopia] and [Galaxy-Eyes]."
Yusei Hoshi: "Do you have any objections?"
In the ZEXAL World.
When they heard Yusei's final words about gifting them decks from the Higher World for an exhibition match, both Yuma Tsukumo and the nearby Kite Tenjo trembled with excitement.
An opportunity like this?! Of course they'd accept! Did he even need to ask?
Yuma Tsukumo: "I have no objections!"
Kite Tenjo: "Neither do I."
After they both agreed, Yusei gifted the two decks to them respectively. For Yusei, the process was simple—like sending a tip, he just clicked their profile pictures and selected the decks.
But in the Xyz world, it was a spectacular event. Two beams of light descended from the sky, so blinding that all the duelists had to shield their eyes. The light vanished as quickly as it came, gone in about three seconds.
When they opened their eyes, it was as if nothing had happened.
Except that the decks of Yuma Tsukumo and Kite Tenjo had been completely changed.
Or rather, an entirely new deck had been added to their Duel Disks.
Then, a title appeared on the large screen.
"Number 39: Utopia VS Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon! Witness the Power of 'Feeling the Flow'!"
The other six dueling worlds quickly noticed that something was different about this video. It featured two duelists with very strange outfits, which left them a bit puzzled.
Are the duelists from the Higher World all this fashionable?
But before they could ponder it further, the short video—or rather, the live broadcast—began to play.
Duelists: Yuma Tsukumo VS Kite Tenjo.
Life Points: 8000 LP each!
First Turn: Kite Tenjo!
Second Turn: Yuma Tsukumo!
In the ZEXAL World.
The moment they realized they were the main characters of this broadcast, Yuma and Kite were both in a state of shock. They had barely processed what was happening.
"It's starting already? Who's first?"
"Kite Tenjo?"
"It's your first turn!"
"Hurry, hurry! Draw your card and let's duel!"
"I'm feeling the flow!" Yuma exclaimed excitedly, inserting the new Utopia deck into his Duel Disk. The duel had begun before his opponent, Kite, had even fully comprehended the situation.
After drawing his card, Kite looked at his opening hand of five cards and froze. He was completely dumbfounded.
Monster Card: Galaxy Soldier
Monster Card: Photon Emperor
Spell Card: Called by the Grave
Monster Card: Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring
Trap Card: Galaxy Hundred
With these five cards, Kite had absolutely no idea what to do. He checked his Extra Deck—it was filled with Xyz monsters he had never seen before, alongside the three Galaxy-Eyes monsters that had been previously shown.
Kite felt like his brain was about to short-circuit. This hand... how was he supposed to start a combo and utilize these resources?!
"I... I... It's my turn," he stammered.
"I activate the effect of Galaxy Soldier! I send Photon Emperor from my hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon Galaxy Soldier. Then, the effect of Photon Emperor in the Graveyard activates."
"The effect of Galaxy Soldier activates! I add Galaxy Wizard from my deck to my hand."
"The effect of Photon Emperor activates! This card is Special Summoned from the Graveyard in Defense Position, and it grants me an additional Normal Summon of a LIGHT monster this turn."
Looking at the vast array of cards he could search, Kite's mind was already reeling. But he had no choice but to push through, relying on his years of experience with Galaxy-Eyes and his gut instinct to build his board.
Even the other duelists could see that Kite Tenjo, the legendary Number Hunter, was sweating nervously while using a Galaxy-Eyes deck.
What was going on? A simple duel was making him this flustered? Didn't he know this deck?
The truth was, he didn't. But Kite quickly regained his composure, took a deep breath, and continued his play.
"I Normal Summon Galaxy Wizard!"
"I activate its effect by Tributing it, and I'll add... Galaxy Summoner from my deck to my hand!"
"I still have my additional Normal Summon! I Normal Summon Galaxy Summoner!"
"I activate the effect of Galaxy Summoner to revive Galaxy Wizard from my Graveyard!"
As if he was starting to get the hang of it, the nervousness on Kite's face gradually faded, replaced by a sharp glint in his eyes.
"I activate the other effect of Galaxy Summoner, changing the Level of Galaxy Soldier to 4!"
"Then I activate the effect of Galaxy Wizard, changing its own Level to 8!"
"I have two Level 4 monsters and two Level 8 monsters!"
"I build the Overlay Network! I overlay the Level 4 Galaxy Soldier and Galaxy Summoner!"
"Xyz Summon! Galaxy Photon Dragon!!!"
"And I continue! I build the Overlay Network again!"
"I overlay the Level 8 Galaxy Wizard and Photon Emperor!"
"Xyz Summon! Number 90!"
"Number 90: Galaxy-Eyes Photon Lord!!!"
Two back-to-back Xyz Summons! The other duelists in the Xyz world were left stunned.
Kite was getting more and more excited.
"I'm not done! I activate the effect of Galaxy Photon Dragon! By detaching one Xyz Material, I can add one 'Photon' or 'Galaxy' card from my deck to my hand or send it to the Graveyard."
"I choose to add Galaxy-Eyes Afterglow Dragon to my hand!!!"
"I immediately Special Summon Galaxy-Eyes Afterglow Dragon in Defense Position!"
"I set one card face-down!"
"My turn is over! It's your move, Yuma!"
With his field established, Kite felt a surge of pride. This Higher World deck build was incredible! The power it provided was terrifying. Even though he wasn't familiar with it, he was able to figure out a decent combo in a short amount of time. That was something to be proud of.
While his board wasn't indestructible, Number 90: Galaxy-Eyes Photon Lord was strong enough. It had protection from card effects, a monster effect negation, and a search during the opponent's turn. With its 3000 DEF, it was more than enough for a first-turn setup. Plus, he had Called by the Grave and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring in his hand. That should be sufficient.
Finishing his turn quickly also gave Kite a chance to study his Extra Deck during his opponent's turn, to better understand what other powerful Galaxy-Eyes monsters the Higher World had to offer.
Across the field, Yuma Tsukumo's expression turned grim. Even with an unfamiliar deck, Kite was able to expertly perform two Xyz Summons and bring out a 3000 ATK, 2500 DEF monster in Afterglow Dragon! These three monsters were clearly no joke.
