Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: The Final Utopia Charge! Connecting the Dueling Worlds?

In the Main World.

Yusei Hoshi watched the test duel in the ZEXAL world with a faint smile.

"Heh, not bad, not bad at all."

"For both of them to pull off plays like that on their first try with these decks... they're quite impressive."

"Later on, I'll have to show them what a real Utopia combo and a real Galaxy-Eyes combo look like," Yusei murmured to himself as he continued to watch the duel intently.

In the ZEXAL World.

The test duel was still underway. Kite Tenjo had used the last of his resources to fight for a sliver of hope, a chance at survival.

Kite's Field:

Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon (3000 ATK): The ultimate Xyz killer, unafraid of any Xyz monster's attack.

Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Blade Dragon (3200 ATK): Still had its material from Full Armor, allowing for another monster destruction next turn.

Galaxy Photon Dragon (0 DEF): Left in Defense Position as a precaution, to avoid a repeat of what happened in the first turn.

Moreover, Kite knew that Yuma still had Double or Nothing! in his hand. If he left Galaxy Photon Dragon in Attack Position just to greedily push for 2000 damage and failed to defeat Yuma, he would be in grave danger.

Yuma's Field:

A single Leo Utopia Ray (2500 ATK) with no materials and no equip spell.

A comeback from this position seemed almost impossible.

"Amazing, truly amazing."

"Kite, I never thought you could push it this far with the resources you had."

"But unfortunately for you..."

"...the only one who gets to 'feel the flow' here is me!"

A sharp light glinted in Yuma's eyes. The formula for victory was already set with his next draw!

Yuma placed his hand on top of his deck.

"My turn! I draw!"

"The card I drew is... Onomatopaira!!!"

"Hahaha! I activate Onomatopaira! I discard one card!"

"From my deck, I add Dodododwarf Gogogoglove and Zubababancho Gagagacoat to my hand!"

"I Normal Summon Gogogoglove! I Special Summon Gagagacoat!"

"Then I activate the effect of Gagagacoat to revive Utopic Onomatopoeia from my Graveyard!"

"The monsters on my field are... three Level 4s!"

"My field... is back!"

Indeed! The moment everyone saw Yuma rebuild his entire field with just one card, it wasn't just the ZEXAL world that was stunned—the duelists from the other five worlds were also left speechless.

This Xyz-focused Utopia deck... wasn't its power level a little too high? Especially that in-archetype searcher! It not only sets up the Graveyard but also searches for specific cards?

With his resources replenished, Yuma wasn't worried at all, even though his Life Points had been reduced by 3200, leaving him with only 4800. In contrast, Kite's 8000 LP now seemed as fragile as a candle in the wind, making everyone worry for him.

The only question was, how would Yuma get past the Xyz-slaying Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon?

Back in the duel, Yuma immediately used his three Level 4 monsters to overlay once again.

Yuma: "I build the Overlay Network with Gogogoglove and Utopic Onomatopoeia!"

Yuma: "I overlay and Xyz Summon!"

Yuma: "My second copy of Number 39: Utopia!"

Yuma: "Next, I'll perform a Rank-Up on my own!"

Yuma: "Come forth! Xyz Change into Shining Number 39: Utopia ONE!!!"

Yuma: "I activate its effect! When my Life Points are 3000 or more lower than my opponent's, I can detach all 3 of its Xyz Materials and pay Life Points until I have only 10 left!"

Yuma: "In exchange, I destroy all Special Summoned monsters on my opponent's field and banish them! Then, you take 300 damage for each monster banished by this effect!"

Yuma: "Let's go! Utopia ONE!!!"

Was this... a do-or-die gamble?

Shark, Tori, Rio, and the others watched with wide eyes, unable to believe what they were seeing. When they heard the effect's description, they felt that Yuma was playing far too recklessly with this Higher World deck!

Reducing his own Life Points... to just 10?!

If he couldn't finish Kite this turn, then on the next turn... he was guaranteed to lose!

"Is he crazy? Has Yuma lost his mind? What other cards could possibly be in that Higher World Extra Deck?"

"I don't get it! But Yuma must have a reason for doing this! There must be another card in his Extra Deck that can secure the win!"

"Let's wait and see. Let the duel play out. Yuma isn't that impulsive."

"Hiss! But you have to admit, this Higher World Xyz deck is insane! Look how much fun they're having!"

"..."

The surrounding voices were a mix of confusion and attempts to understand. But they weren't Yuma, and they had no idea what cards were in his Extra Deck. The duelists in the other worlds felt the same way.

DM World.

Yugi Muto watched with a puzzled expression. "Other me, why is this boy named Yuma Tsukumo so reckless?"

"Aibou, think about it. Have we done any less? Remember when we were down to 100 LP..."

After a brief chat with the Pharaoh, Atem, within him, Yugi Muto felt at ease. What was the big deal about 10 LP? It was nothing compared to what they had been through.

GX World.

Jaden Yuki's mouth twitched as he watched the scene. "Man, that Kite Tenjo guy is really having a bad time. This is gonna hurt."

What Jaden was focused on wasn't Yuma's last 10 LP, but the sliver of hope that Kite had fought so hard for, now about to be extinguished like a flame in a cold wind.

"Yeah, all three of his monsters are being destroyed," Alexis Rhodes added with a nod. "And he's going to take 900 points of damage on top of that. That's rough."

Besides that, Alexis noticed something else was off. It seemed like the other duelists shown in the broadcast were also talking about the "Higher World." The voices were faint, but audible.

Could it be... that Yuma Tsukumo and Kite Tenjo aren't actually from Mr. Yu's Higher World?

Back on the ZEXAL dueling field, the scene unfolded just as they predicted. All three of Kite's monsters were destroyed and banished. Since Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Blade Dragon was banished instead of sent to the Graveyard, it couldn't trigger its effect to summon Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon.

Finally, Kite's Life Points were reduced by 900, leaving him with 7100 LP.

But Yuma was now down to a mere 10 LP.

Yuma: "Hahaha! It's not over yet!"

Yuma: "I activate the effect of Zubababancho Gagagacoat on my field to revive Utopic Onomatopoeia from my Graveyard!"

Yuma: "The effect of Gogogoglove also activates from the Graveyard, Special Summoning itself!"

Yuma: "I've assembled three Level 4 monsters again!"

Yuma: "Hahaha! This is awesome! So awesome!"

Yuma: "I'm overlaying again! I build the Overlay Network with Gagagacoat and Gogogoglove!"

Yuma: "Xyz Summon! Gagagaga Magician!"

Yuma: "I activate the effect of Gagagaga Magician! By detaching Gogogoglove, I can revive Number 99: Utopia Dragonar from my Graveyard!"

With that successful Xyz Summon, Yuma's field was once again packed with powerful Xyz monsters. And the total ATK of these monsters for a direct attack... was far more than Kite's remaining 7100 LP!

The outcome of the duel was clear!

The one who would make the final charge was Yuma Tsukumo and his Utopia!

Yuma: "Alright, time to feel the flow! Enter the Battle Phase!"

Yuma: "Gagagaga Magician (2000 ATK), attack directly!"

Yuma: "SNo. 39: Utopia ONE (2510 ATK), attack directly!"

Yuma: "No. 99: Utopia Dragonar (3000 ATK), attack directly!"

Yuma: "And for the final blow! Utopic Onomatopoeia (1500 ATK), attack directly!"

Yuma: "I've won! The victory formula was a success! What an awesome duel!!!"

As the final attack landed, Kite Tenjo's Life Points dropped to 0.

The deck test had concluded perfectly. Yuma was still buzzing with excitement, but Kite couldn't bring himself to smile. Looking at his Galaxy-Eyes deck, he knew the truth: he wasn't familiar enough with it, not skilled enough. There were so many resources in his Extra Deck that he hadn't been able to utilize as effectively as Yuma had.

If he could use them all... if they had one more duel... he was sure he could win.

Main World.

Yusei Hoshi let out a long sigh of relief after watching the final play. So this is the power of a protagonist's luck, he thought. A destined draw brought him the second Onomatopaira, allowing Yuma to rebuild his board. And the Double or Nothing! he had held onto became the discard fodder for it. It seemed Yuma's dueling mindset had truly evolved.

"Phew, all done. The test is complete."

"Let's see what kind of reward the software gives for finishing a deck test."

Yusei stretched lazily and opened the test results page. Besides a recording of Yuma and Kite's duel, there was also a log of every move they made.

[Congratulations, user Yusei Hoshi, for successfully completing the software's deck test mission.]

[Congratulations, user Yusei Hoshi, for successfully obtaining the World Link function.]

[Would you like to establish a dialogue connection between the DM, GX, 5D's, and ZEXAL worlds?]

Huh? What does that mean? Dialogue connection? Is it going to let each world know that other parallel worlds exist?

Yusei clicked the button. A dialog box popped up.

[Do you wish to merge the dialogue functions for the GX, DM, 5D's, and ZEXAL worlds?]

[Note: Once merged, the worlds will be able to communicate with each other!]

[More functions, such as arranging cross-world duels, can be unlocked later.]

Merging the chat groups? And I can arrange duels between them?

Yusei grinned. This was getting more and more interesting! Of course, he had to merge them!

"I choose... to merge."

With his confirmation, the chat groups of the four worlds were effortlessly combined into one large group. For him, the operation was simple and had no strange side effects.

For the four actual worlds, however, it was a different story.

With a single merge, the screens connecting the four different parallel timelines began to overlap. All the voices and dialogues quietly started to change.

DM World.

Seto Kaiba: "What's going on? What was that sound?"

Yugi Muto: "I'm not sure. It sounded like an explosion, or maybe... a fusion?"

Joey Wheeler: "Tch, sounds like the virtual system merging. Someone's probably dueling."

Mai Valentine: "Maybe that duel between Yuma and Kite got everyone itching for a match."

GX World.

Hearing the voices of Seto Kaiba, Yugi Muto, Joey, and others coming from their screens, the duelists of the GX world, who had been casually discussing Utopia and Galaxy-Eyes, were suddenly frozen in shock.

Because as the voices spoke, virtual avatars and names of the speakers appeared around them.

Yugi Muto, with his starfish-like hair—it was definitely him!

Mai Valentine, with her long, wavy blonde hair—no doubt about it!

Pegasus, with his white hair covering one eye—that was him!

It was all really happening right there on their screens!

5D's World.

Yusei Fudo and the others had just finished watching the exciting duel and were about to have a Turbo Duel with Jack. Suddenly, voices from the DM and GX worlds started pouring out of the duel screen on their Duel Runners. Information about duelists from both worlds began to appear as well.

Yusei Fudo and Jack Atlas were completely stunned.

What the heck? Are there ghosts? No, that can't be right... It seems like... these are messages from duelists in other worlds!

ZEXAL World.

The dejected Kite Tenjo and the ecstatic Yuma Tsukumo immediately noticed the voices coming from other worlds.

Yusei Fudo? Yugi Muto? Jaden Yuki? Joey Wheeler?

Who were these people? Why were they talking nonstop? And what they were saying... seemed to be about their duel!

"Huh? What's happening? Are these people from the Higher World?"

"No, wait, that's not right! Look, when they speak, there's a tag next to their names."

"Hey, you're right! It's just like a chat room. The tags say... DM? GX? 5D's?"

"Whoa! Is this for real? It seems like they can hear me too, and I'm tagged as ZEXAL?"

Before the people from the four worlds could fully process it, Yusei Hoshi's voice echoed through the newly merged chat group.

Yusei Hoshi: "Attention, duelists of the DM, GX, 5D's, and ZEXAL worlds."

Yusei Hoshi: "Your dueling worlds have now been connected via a communication function."

Yusei Hoshi: "From now on, you can communicate via voice chat and ask about information related to your respective parallel worlds."

Yusei Hoshi: "Note: If you encounter a duelist from another world you dislike, you can use the block function. You can also choose to temporarily disable the chat function from other worlds if you wish to ignore them."

"..."

After Yusei Hoshi finished his explanation of the situation, the people from all four dueling worlds were completely dumbfounded.

What?! The controller from the Higher World... can actually connect our worlds for communication?

So that's what it was! No wonder so many new message pop-ups and avatars suddenly appeared!

So... these people were all duelists from other dueling worlds! And they were all clearly labeled with which world they were from!

In the large chat group, Jaden Yuki couldn't hold back any longer and immediately started a conversation.

Jaden Yuki: "Excuse me, are you the King of Games, Mr. Yugi Muto?"

Jaden Yuki: "My name is Jaden Yuki! I'm a new student at Duel Academy!"

Yugi Muto: "I know of you! I've heard that you use a HERO deck, right?"

Yusei Fudo: "Um... can I join this conversation? Is the Duel Academy you're talking about the same as the one in my time?"

Yuma Tsukumo: "Uh... hello, seniors? We're from the ZEXAL world and specialize in Xyz Summoning. What about you guys?"

Mai Valentine: "Yuma, sweetie? Does that mean you were the star of that last short video?"

Kite Tenjo: "This is bad. So many people... wait, does that mean all of you saw me lose?"

Joey Wheeler: "Ahem, yeah, we did. But don't worry about it, Kite kid! You were awesome!!!"
