I know it's been a while since I updated this fic, and don't expect too many regular updates, since I'm still trying a find a rhythm to this story that focuses on the X-Men and mutant and general, unlike my other Marvel fics. Given my main character in this one is a mutant.
Anyway, onto the chapter.

As Derek and Kitty continued walking away from the school the latter was still giggling.
Then after another minute passed Derek turned his gaze to her.
"Kitty, was what I did to Lance really that funny?" He asked.
Kitty nodding her head at his question. "Yeah, it like, totally was." She said in between laughter. "So, so, funny." She added.
Untill eventually Kitty finally stopped laughing altogether.
"Well then, guess that means I must be doing something right." Derek mused.
"Yep, you sure are Cowan." Kitty replied. While also grabbing hold of Derek's hand. "Now then, let's finally begin that town tour I promised you." She said.
Derek simply nodding at Kitty's words.
Once he did she began taking him to around Bayville, showing him where everything major was located. From the local restaurants, to the local park, to even the local hangout spots for the high schoolers.
The tour itself coming to an end a couple of hours later when Kitty howed Derek an electronics store in town that had really good prices on used merchandise, and even bargain deals.
Standing outside of the shop Kitty turned to face Derek after explaining what the place was. "So, what do you think?"
"I think we should go inside and see if they have any good bargains today." Derek replied.
Only to remember a very important detail a second later.
He was flat broke.
"Oh scratch that, we can't. I don't have any money." Derek spoke.
"You mean the professor hasn't set you up with a bank account and stipend yet?" Kitty asked.
Leading Derek to immediately look at her. "Sorry, what now?" He asked. "Bank account and stipend. The professor hasn't mentioned that yet."
"Oh, well I'm sure he like totally will. He probably just wanted to let you get settled in first." Kitty said.
"Yeah, probably." Derek replied. "But anyway, let's just go. Since I honestly don't feel like looking if I can't buy anything." He said.
"Well actually if you find something you like I could like, probably get the owner of this place to hold it in reserve until you come up with the money to purchase it. I get the same deal after all."
"Really?" Derek questioned.
"Yeah. I'm really into computers and electronics after all." Kitty revealed.
"Cool." Derek replied. "Well if that's the case let's go in and have a look around."
"Yeah, let's." Kitty replied.
Once she did she and Derek went into the store.
Then as soon as they did a hell jingled when they pushed opened the front door, and a second after this occurred the manager at the front counter looked in their direction.
An older woman.
"Ah, hello Kitty." She spoke. "Good to see you, as always." The manager said, before turning her gaze to Derek. "Oh and who is this young man? Your boyfriend?"
"No!" Kitty immediately replied. "He's a new student at school and a new friend from the mansion is all." She quickly explained.
"What Kitty said." Derek replied. "The name is Derek Cowan ma'am. A pleasure to meet you."
"You as well." The store manager replied. "So if Kitty brought you here then I take it there means you have an interest in electronics and computers as well?"
"I do." Derek replied.
"Then by all means, feel free to look around."
"I'll take up on that offer, thank you." Derek replied.
After he did he and Kitty looked through the electronics store for about an hour, until eventually they left.
Neither of them finding anything that particularly caught their interest.
"That was fun." Derek said, as he and Kitty walked the street. "So miss tour guide, where too next?"
"Actually with that the tour is complete." Kitty revealed. "So, what did you think?"
"It was lovely." Derek replied. "On that note, what do you want to do now?"
"Let's head back to the mansion." Kitty suggested.
"I'm cool with that." Derek replied.
So with that the two of them began making their way back to mansion.

Arriving at the mansion Kitty and Derek headed straight for the front door.
Only to stop when Logan, who was working on his motorcycle on the lawn, called out to them.
"What's this? You two haven't even known each other that long and you're already going out on dates?"
"We're not." Kitty said.
"What Kitty." Derek added. "She was simply showing me around town is all."
"Oh, is that what they're calling it nowadays." Logan mused. A grin appearing on his face.
"Think whatever you want to Logan." Derek told the man.
Using his name, since he preferred it over being called Mr. Logan.
"Anyway, have you seen the professor? There's something that came up that I wish to discuss with him."
"Funny you should ask kid, since the professors looking for you too." Logan revealed. "He's down in the mansion sub-levels."
"Thanks for the info." Derek replied.
Once he did he and Kitty continued heading towards the mansion, while Logan went back to working on his motorcycle.
Reaching the mansion front door Derek turned to Kitty. "Well Miss Pryde, thank you for the not date this afternoon. It was very informative."
"Sure. It was no trouble at all." Kitty replied.
Once she did she and Derek into into the institute and then went their separate ways, Derek heading to the sub-levels.
Then once he arrived he began looking for Xavier, easily finding him in one of the labs.
Along with Beast.
"Ah Derek, you've finally arrived. Wonderful." Charles spoke. "So, how was your first day of school?"
"It was okay. Nothing too interesting." Derek replied. "Anyway, Logan said you wanted to see me?"
"Yes." Charles replied. "For a couple of reasons actually. The first of which was about your first day of school, which we just finished discussing. Now then, into the second matter." He said.
Xavier then wheeled over to Derek and held our an ID card to him. "Your official ID."
"Thank you." Derek replied, taking it. "Oh also, today Kitty showed me around town and when she did she mentioned something to do with a bank account and a stipend?"
"Yes, that was actually another matter I wanted to discuss with you." Charles replied. "We have set up a bank account in your name, and every month you'll be getting a stipend of money into it to do with as you please. But he careful your spending habits."
"Don't worry professor, I will. But man, do you do this for all your students?" Derek asked.
Charles shook his head. "No, only the ones who have no immediate family or guardians. Like Scott and Rogue." The professor explained.
Derek being the the only one in the room having any idea how wrong Xavier was.
Given that Rogue was Kurt's foster sister and Scott's younger brother Alex was likely still alive and out there somewhere.
Through Derek isn't sure.
To say nothing of Scott's dad or other brother Vulcan, since he isn't sure if the the Shi'ar exist in his new reality.
But if they do...it means outer space adventures for him and the rest of the X-Men.
"I see." Derek mused. "If that's the case you must be pretty loaded then."
"Oh yes, Charles has quite the monetary access." Hank said.
"That I do." Charles admitted.
"Well given what I've seen of the institute I'm not surprised." Derek commented. "Though just of our curiosity, how rich are you professor. Like Tony Stark rich?"
"I'll leave that up to your imagination Derek." Charles replied, a slight grin on his face. "But on that note let's move onto the next reason I called you down here. Your X-Men field suit. Given the other students has input when we designed there's I felt you should have the same opportunity."
"Yes. Now then, do you have any ideas rolling around in that young mind of yours?" Hank asked.
"Yeah, a few." Derek replied.
Not willing to admit he has thought about designs for his own super suit more times than he could count.
Especially in his previous life.
So with that Derek gave his input and ideas, discussing them with Hank and Beast until dinner time arrived.
Once it did the three of them went back upstairs and ate with the others.
Then after Derek went to his room, had some personal time, and then called it a day.
One which ended in a very good note in his mind.

Thevfollowing morning Derek got up, and after completing his morning routine, along with getting in a good breakfast, he headed off to school again.
But today he decided to head out alone.
Whistling a toon he headed for Bayville high.
Only to stop when a jeep truck cut him off.
One containing Lance, along with Fred Dukes aka Blob, and Todd Tolensky aka Toad.

"Ah Lance, good morning." Derek spoke. "And who are your friends? No wait, let me guess. Gelatin man and Mr. Hops?"
Upon hearing Derek's words both Fred and Toad became angered.
"Ah, new goodie goddie got a mouth on him." Toad spoke.
"Then what's say we close it for him." Blob suggested, slamming a fist into his open palm.
"Took the words right out of my mouth boys." Lance spoke.
He then climbed out of the Jeep, along with Toad and Blob.
"Didn't I tell you yesterday Cowan, you're dead." Lance spoke. "Now get ready to get rocked." He added.
Leading Derek to sigh and shake his head.
Wondering how his morning walk to school had suddenly turned into a brawl?
I mean, it's not like he's the protagonist of a webnovel or fanfiction after all.
