Chapter 74 - Zhang Wei Is Searching For Inspiration

By the time Father Zhang had finished smoking one cigarette after his alarming, demonic screech, the female broadcaster Yun Duo had already came back from her business in the bathroom. She tidied up her messy hair before sitting down on her gaming chair, her eyes twinkling as she waved with a particular elegant surprised face. "Hiii! So Zhang Zai is here! Welcome!"

From Xero's point of view, she didn't look all that outstanding like those online incels made her to be. She had the standard hallmarks of a celebrity, oval face and straight eyebrows... however, comparing with just facial features alone; he felt that even without makeup, Misaki was still more attractive than her. He had to admit, though, compared with those tedious lookalike models online — Little Yun Duo was still undoubtedly a pleasant looking girl, her voice not too shrill and nice. In addition... she was wearing a loli outfit with black silk stockings on her legs ...

Hmm. Perhaps this was the reason why the audience loved her so much.

As Xero pondered this, his hand on his chin, on the other side, Father Zhang had stubbed out his cigarette butt and was looking at Little Yun Duo mournfully. She clearly understood what that expression meant, "You've ran out of ideas again?"

"The old book is about to be closed, but I have no ideas for a new one! In simpler terms, I don't know what to do!"

Father Zhang sighed and said, "Since it's a sequel, there has to be some seamless transition between the two books... Otherwise, my family will have to clench their asses for the next few days..." (And that also meant that we wouldn't be able to buy new tableware!)

As Father Zhang drowned in his explanation in poverty, other fans of Little Yun Duo started to kick up a fuss.

"Zhangzai! You're a da shen! If you're poor, us small fries would have to try even harder!"

"Hey. I'm new here. Is there anyone that can tell me who this Zhangzai guy is? What's his pen name? Books written?"

"Bro! You don't know who Zhangzai is?! His pen name is Zhang Ouyang!"

"Oh shit! He's actually THE Zhang Ouyang!"

...

Just like that, the chat burst into chaos.

Because his pen name, Zhang Ouyang was too renowned!

When he had been a newbie in the webnovel world back then, Father Zhang had finished writing four hundred and fifty thousand words in less than four months and had completely gathered audiences tremendously with his debut novel Eternal Dao, Endless Sky. Chapter subscriptions for the novel soared rapidly to three hundred thousand users and was bouncing over veterans who had been in the game longer than him.

It could be said that at the time, Zhang Ouyang had made an explosive entrance; he was a dark horse who had burst forth from under the Three Pure Mountains and had caught many veterans off guard. Previously, a top ranked writer named Gong Ye had been so pissed at his debut, that he had quit.

Although Father Zhang rarely talked about writing at home, Xero still heard about the mighty legends about him. Over the years, he had made a name for himself and was very well-known. Nonetheless, the name Zhang Ouyang, was still a mysterious existence in the Xianxia Network.

Father Zhang had been selected as top writer in most top annual writing events, and even the website he had written on sent him invitation letters but he had not came to a single one. He turned down all the awards and features and dedicated himself solely to literature.

After Zhang Ouyang's identity was revealed, the chat burst into endless chatter. Audience numbers even soared from two hundred thousand to four hundred thousand. Looking at this, you could say that Father Zhang had made himself quite an image.

"Who would've thought that Master Zhangzai was Da Shen Zhang Ouyang! By the way, has Eternal Dao, Endless Sky been finished yet?"

"Not yet. But it will be soon! The problem is that he has no ideas..."

"It's finally going to be finished!" Someone sent a crying emoji. "I remember when I started following this book, I was at Qi Condensation School, but now I'm in university!"

Seeing this bullet message, Father Zhang sent a sweating emoji.

"It's been serialised for twelve years already, shouldn't this book be ranked one with the most words in a novel?"

"Nah. There's still an ongoing book named A Reborn Cultivator's Deeds. I heard a cultivation master following this book went to seclusion for two hundred years, when he came out, the book was still ongoing! It startled him so much that it triggered a rapid advancement through his cultivation realm, and he almost died from the tremendous energy!"

"... Zhangzai... Please don't finish yet! At least take that number one spot!"

Seeing this, Father Zhang laughed. Even if he continued this book, there was no way he was going to surpass the amount of words that book had. After all, the book started serialisation when the website was first established.

The Eternal Dao, Endless Sky story followed Lin Xuan, a youth from a forgotten mountain village who possesses an ancient jade slip said to be carved with a fragment of the Eternal Dao. Mocked as talentless, his fate changes when he accidentally awakens a dormant celestial will within the slip...

Back then, inspiration for this story had first struck him while he was day dreaming at work. Who would have thought that after turning it into a serialised novel, it would be loved so dearly.

But after years of serialisation, Father Zhang eventually ran out of ideas to include. There was no integrity into continuing the story, and he was thinking about an ending for all the characters for the time being.

This thought made him a bit sad. It was a book he had been writing for years, and also his debut work. It was inevitable that starting a new one from scratch would bum him out.

That was why Father Zhang had sought out Little Yun Duo. He felt that this cheerful, beautiful maiden would be able to caress the regret in his heart. At the same time, she tended to have vivid imaginations occasionally so he thought that that may help with his inspiration.

It had been an hour since Father Zhang had came online, Little Yun Duo looked at the livestream audience count... after his identity was revealed, it was soaring rapidly.

Father Zhang alone had helped her boost her viewership.

For a broadcaster, this was the best gift she could ever receive!

And so, Little Yun Duo straightaway changed the subject. "Let's help Da Shen Zhang Ouyang get new inspiration!"

After making this change, Little Yun Duo sank into deep thought, clearly rending her brain on the computer.

Whenever Little Yun Duo answered a question on love, she did so with calm. Thus, the audience hadn't seen her this troubled before. Messages flew around the screen yet again...

"Little Yun Duo is so focused, yet so beautiful!"

"I could unironically goon to this ngl!"

"Bro... Great idea!"

Father Zhang "..."

Looking at the noisy, excited chat in the livestream, Father Zhang absent mindedly pulled out a cigarette. There was now five hundred thousand viewers present helping her think of themes to utilise. Even if he wasn't going to use them, he could at least get ideas.

Chik! The moment Father Zhang flipped his lighter on, Little Yun Duo's face suddenly brightened on the computer. "I don't know how to write novels... but I think you can try this one... Zhangzai, how about livestreaming?"

Livestreaming?

Father Zhang immediately patted his head in sudden realisation. He could have thought of that long ago!
