After retiring, Grandfather Zhang had a piece of farmland which was a corn field, and had vowed to experiment with other growth methods of other crops and vegetables. Unfortunately, because of his dementia, he would constantly forget his research results. Finally accepting this reality, Grandfather Zhang gave up on his earlier dream, and started to plant simple fruits and vegetables instead. Almost every month, he would send fruits and vegetables to the Zhang Family's small villa.
This time, when he had heard that his loving grandson was participating in a four-day exchange, he had been extensively plucking out berries from his crop, because they had been Xero's favorite when he was a kid.
For dinner, the old man's star cooking skills were put on absolute display…
Appetisers: sweet tomatoes, and duchess summer jewels…
Mains: shadow panther beef, celtuce with sauce, and siu mai with wonton soup…
Dessert: elegant oranges…
As the old man announced the name of the dishes proudly, Xero could basically confirm who the old man's shifu was… even if it wasn't Mother Xian, it had to be someone connected to her!
…
…
Previously, whenever the old man came to visit the Zhang family, most of the time, he would leave early next morning on his hoverboard. This time, at dinner, Father Zhang adamantly insisted on the old man staying a few days. The reason was very obvious… his dementia had reached critical condition! He even forgot to add pepper to the wonton soup!
Even the old man had thoroughly denied this, and said that he would never forget his skills even if he forgets everyone… well, in the end, he had to eat his own words…
It was clear that the old man's dementia was critical; and Father Zhang had took the old man to the hospital before, but the doctor explained that Grandfather Zhang's dementia was a unique case, it couldn't be treated with just medications alone, mental illness needed mental treatment.
And so, Father Zhang said that he should stay back this time, and planned to look for an excellent psychologist to give Grandfather Zhang a comprehensive overview of his mental disorder and in turn, help cure him.
Then…
Sunday morning, there was yet another visitor… Jian Beibei had arrived!
Facing Grandfather Zhang, he sighed and looked over to Father Zhang. "This matter between life and death… is this it?"
"Didn't you major and study psychology in university? You were even one of Professor Liang's students," Father Zhang said.
Jian Beibei put a hand on his chin as he pondered. "… yeah, that's true, but… I haven't seen patients in a long time." No one could blame him. There were plenty of psychologists in the current market, but most of them were part-timers, not only didn't this job not give them enough to eat, there was also high risk. There had been a number of incidents where psychologists were killed by patients, who insisted that there were okay.
Hence, after graduating from college, Jian Beibei decided it was best if he just switched to becoming an editor… that way, he didn't have to walk around all the time, and he could relax and earn money… like Yua Mikami…
Nearby, Mother Zhang came to the rescue. "How about we just forget it? This is too difficult for Brother Chen…"
Father Zhang shamelessly looked away. "I don't care! You don't have to look, even if you don't want to! Else, I'll quit!"
"Quit the website?! No, no, don't!"
Jian Beibei was about to cry, "Alright, alright… sniff… I'll.. I'll take a look, okay?"
Father Zhang: "Good boy."
…
These days, there were plenty of authors who wanted to kiss the feet of editors; it was the first time that Jian Beibei had seen the use of quitting the website in order to sway him. Jian Beibei wanted to cry, but had no tears left. If he drove Zhang Ouyang away, he would be fired from his job!
Despite having left psychology for many years, Jian Beibei still understood the concept of dementia. But because Grandfather Zhang's case was more unique, as his dementia was caused by mental illness, after some pondering, he decided he should ask a few questions to see how far it had progressed.
"My name is Chen Ziyang. Grandfather Zhang, you can call me, Brother Chen." Jian Beibei said, looking at Grandfather Zhang.
The old man didn't know who Jian Beibei was, but he could roughly guess that it was the psychologist Father Zhang had brought, so he was a little nervous. He couldn't help that his hands shook, even just hearing this man speak.
"Grandfather Zhang, don't be nervous… I'm going to ask you a few questions."
The old man paused: "That… Brother Chen, uh, can I ask you a question?"
Jian Beibei: "Mm. Ask away."
Grandfather Zhang: "How… how old are you?"
Jian Beibei: "Twenty-nine."
Grandfather Zhang: "Oh… okay. Still young… I have another question!"
Jian Beibei: "Go on."
Grandfather Zhang: "How… how old are you?"
Jian Beibei's lips twitched.
Father Zhang, Mother Zhang: "…"
Okay! No need to ask anymore, it's wraps! It's f**king incurable!
Upstairs, Xero couldn't help but cover his face, and at the same time, sigh deeply in his heart. Before Jian Beibei could cure this problem, he would literally go insane…
In the end, Father Zhang made Jian Beibei stay back for lunch to eat the food which Grandfather Zhang had forgotten to add peppers before leaving. As he was about to leave, the old man saw Jian Beibei at the door, and he gripped his hands firmly. "Ai… I have really caused trouble for Doctor Chen!"
"Grandfather, it's no problem…" When they had been eating, the grandpa kept on asking the same questions, and it's taking time for Jian Beibei to recover.
Father Zhang cleared his throat, and gave Jian Beibei a shoulder hug before dragging him aside to ask him.
"How's my pops?"
"I took some notes, aaandd… Grandfather Zhang's case is rather complicated, and there are some details I need to discuss with my teacher…" What Jian Beibei said, were all empty words. Since graduation, apart from sending broadcast messages during New Year or other festivals, it had in fact been a long time since he has seen Professor Liang. Who the hell knew if he even still remembered him, this student?
"Then I will really have to trouble you!" Father Zhang said with a chuckle.
"Yeah, yeah… if you really want to make it up to me, just make sure to update more regularly!" Jian Beibei rolled his eyes and said testily.
…
Today, the Zhang family was particularly busy. As soon as Jian Beibei left, a young man in a delivery outfit suit, holding a box with the express name on it, walked solemnly to the front door of the villa.
It was an employee from Jie Tong Express. Xero had sensed the courier's presence from afar, and had already been waiting for him at the door.
When the man saw the receipt, he immediately handed the box to Xero, and bowed respectfully. "Jie Tong Express! Mission accomplished! Leave a five star review, sir!"
Xero lowered his head, very quiet, and signed his name.
The man took out a grading device from his suit pocket, "Based on Sir's consumer preferences, if you leave a five star review now, you will instantly receive fifteen packets of Little Panda Custard Bun Snacks! Strawberry Deluxe!"
Xero's eyes lit up at once.
