Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

With my hand on the door, I wondered if the running attempt would be worth it. No. I had to go in. Forcing myself into the room, I'm pretty sure my face matched my mood. Anywhere but here.

All the students quieted with my presence. I acknowledged Professor Casper with a quick brow raise while his eyes narrowed at my empty hands. I shrugged. Not like the goons had stopped for books on my way back to prison. My only possession happened to be my beautiful headphones. I shoved them in my ear the moment I threw myself down into the nearest empty desk.

My gaze found the windows and watched the wind blowing leaves in the trees. Someone's gaze on me pulled my attention away. One of the angel boys was looking over my way, so I cocked my head and gave him a little wink. He rolled his eyes and turned back to the professor. Barely a minute passed with my attention back on the windows that I felt it.

I clenched my fists and smirked. I knew it was the same one. And he had just confirmed he had angel blood. Just because I was gone for more than a year didn't mean they had shit on me.

All eyes turned to me as I stood up and pulled the buds out of my ears. I walked to the front, ignoring Casper's apprehension. Might as well establish some dominance over this pathetic group.

"I'm so sorry to interrupt." I placed my hand over my chest. I adored acting. "I thought it might be a good idea to give the class a little lesson in mind-reading from an expert, since one of you adorable little angels think you can get into my mind."

"Rebecca—." The warning was there in the professor's voice.

God I hated that full name. I didn't look like a Rebecca.

I ignored him and leaned down on stare-a-lot's desk and peered into his eyes. "Rule 1: Don't look into the eyes. Too late, you're already there." I straightened up with Professor Casper's approach and flicked my fingers his way. Frozen. Like the movie. "Rule two: Don't push. That's like lesson one when you're born for crying out loud." Idiots. The whole lot of them. I gave him a glare. "Rule three: Make damn sure that you are more powerful before you even try. You might make someone mad."

Most the angel mixes were on the ground in about three seconds flat. Chaos surrounded me while a few yelled and shouted, trying to speak over the noise int heir mind. I played the most annoying song I could think of at volumes loud enough to give them a glimpse of true pain.

I'd left the demons alone since they weren't responsible for the little angel's disrespect. They laughed easily with my mocking bow to them. Mind powers were something I had never bothered to hide. Anyone with a brain knew I was one of the best at ripping through mind defenses. That alone was enough to make me a dangerous foe.

My name roared over the speakers, and I groaned. Casper must have pressed his little panic button before I froze him. I pouted when I snapped my fingers again to release him and headed back out into the hallway. A large group of guards were already running towards me, so I lifted my hands up in surrender.

 "Tony! Long time no see!"

He grabbed me by the arm like I was on a criminal tv show and nodded for the others to back off a bit. At least with him here, I wouldn't get shoved on the ground and manhandled like I was a murderer. Down the hall there were two small groups of guards in different colored uniforms.

 The royals.

Okay, that was a bit much. Why did they need to get pulled out of their classes for this? They weren't even near the "threat."

"What happened to behaving?" Tony asked me.

I smirked up at him. "Me?"

He allowed me to take my arm back and walk backwards so I could stare at him in mocking disbelief. Tony had always been my favorite tyrant.

 "When do I ever misbehave?"

I was slowly maneuvering myself closer to the royals. Curiosity was a strong force within me. My heeled boots clicked on the floor.

"Not even back an hour and you're already starting. And here I thought we'd have an easy year."

The royal guards eyed me with a few dirty looks, but I ignored them. They weren't worth my notice. Demon pushed his guard away and met my gaze head on with a smirk that could melt your pants off. He was deeply tanned with pitch black hair and eyes to match. He and Angel were about the same height. Where Demon was dark, Angel was light. Blond, nearly glowing hair that made his skin look like he'd been kissed by the sun.

Angel seemed to be older, since his muscles were more noticeable. Genetics played a huge part in our structure. If our parents were toned or muscular, we would follow suit. Royals weren't about to let anyone less than perfect into their gene pool.

As if on cue, Angel gave me enough of a passing look of disgust that got under my skin. I was a creature of reaction. It may have been a bit childish, but I wasn't here to make friends. I stopped and I could sense all the guards tensing.

"I'd curtsy, but honestly? I just don't give a shit." I leaned forward and Tony grabbed both of my arms. "By the way, your angel subjects suck at mind reading." Tony was already dragging me away as I sang the words, "I gave them a lesson for you."

Demon grabbed his stomach and almost fell over laughing as Angel snapped. He shoved his guards out of his way and stormed towards me before one grabbed him. Apparently, he wasn't allowed unlimited freedom either.

"Let me go!" He shoved their hands away and stared at me in the closest thing to hatred that an angel could possess.

I was able to use my arm enough to give him a mocking little salute, with Tony still dragging me back towards the office. The dean and headmaster's office were nothing new for me. I'd spent at least half of my schooling in this incredibly organized room. With the headmaster not in his space, I took it upon myself to help him reorganize.
