Chapter 10 - Power Move

The floor erupted as I hit it. Sending dozens of small rocks into the sky and cracking the ground.

Soul warped away and I looked around for where he went. But he wasn't anywhere to be seen. he must've been hiding in the space between his teleportation.

Dang coward!

The shockwave subsided and Soul appeared to my right. "Wow man that was… something" he sounded impressed

"but" he checked his watch "times up."

I didn't even have enough time to brace myself before Soul dashed in with insane speed and punched my chest, knocking the wind out of me. He then teleported behind me and kicked my back, I tumbled and rolled but ended back up on my feet, breathing heavily from the powerful blow.

That power move didn't go as expected. My hands still hurt from the energy, and they had red burn marks on them. "I probably shouldn't have done that…"

I attempted to launch a bolt at him, but I exhausted all my energy and my only way to get more was kinda impossible right now.

Soul reappeared to my left and dashed forward again.

This time a mistake was made.

The shockwave I sent out had left cracks in the ground. Not big enough for someone to fall through them but big enough so that someone could trip over them.

And that's exactly what happened to Soul.

The strongest surged's foot got caught in a crack in the ground. His speed made him plunge to the ground with a "ah!"

I wasted no time with this mistake and ran at him as fast as I possibly could. As I reached him, I heard a cheer from the audience.

Soul was already trying to get up, but it was too late.

I skirted to a stop and put a hand on his head.

"I win."

Soul frowned for a split second, then smiled at me "well I'll be."

"That was amazing!" Tammi got up and attempted to hug me again. I let him do it, not like I could stop him I was exhausted from the station and the two fights.

"That was slick thunderboy!" Frank slapped my back. "I'm jealous." Marion was still at the table, but she gave me a smile and went back to what was on her phone. Not that I cared that she didn't enjoy my win…

"Well, a deal is a deal." Soul got up and wiped his head "I'll make some phone calls; I know just the gift for you."

Shaun clapped "well done Jake! You're the first person to 'technically' win against Soul!" the man in question put a hand on his forehead and sighed, "if any of you so much as mentioned this, I'll find you and make sure that you won't have a promising future." A portal then appeared behind him.

"I'm off" Soul tapped his watch "I got… work stuff… meetings…. very boring."

His mood had seemed to go down drastically after the fight.

"Wait-" it was too late; Soul had left Zap city.

Man, what a sore loser! The second he loses he bails! well, it makes sense that he would develop a superiority complex from being the strongest.

"don't mind him he's just mad" Frank said. "I don't think he ever learned how to take a loss." The telekinetic looked at Shaun "was that all for today?"

Shaun pulled out a tablet and clicked a few things. "let's see… for all of you this was it so your free to go and do your own thing until we call you."

Tammi grinned and looked back at me "nice to meet you Jake, I hope we become good friends." He gave me one last half hug and walked back into the building. Tammi's a nice guy, albeit a little touchy at times. But no wonder Shaun recruited him, the guy is insanely strong.

Frank smiled at me and followed Tammi in. I owe him, he saved my life and because of him I'm right here. Sparring with the strongest people I've ever seen.

"See ya later Jake" Marion waved at me. "I want a rematch though." I nodded at her and she went back in. she's nice… I like her… as a friend I mean!

I was about to go in when Shaun grabbed my shoulder

"Not you Jake"

Wait this can't be…

Shaun tapped his tablet, "you still need a tour of the building and an orientation that will go deeper into what we do here."

You gotta be-
