Nathan's POV
I kept thinking about what Kyra had said as I watched her sleep. The baby was beside her, sleeping peacefully. They looked exactly alike. They even had the same sleeping position, and I loved watching them. However, Kyra's words still lingered in my mind.
Tomorrow, Kyra would be discharged from the hospital, and she had indirectly told me to go back to a life without her. I could see she didn't need me anymore. It hurt, but I was still thankful that she had let me stay here for a few months. She let me take care of her. She allowed me to see her baby—the beautiful baby that looked like her.
Inside me, Alaric wouldn't stop pacing, staring at the tiny baby next to Kyra. He had been restless since Snow was born, always trying to take over, desperate to be near her. How strongly he focused on her confused me. She wasn't our pup—she couldn't be—but Alaric acted as if she was our own blood.
