Emily's POV
I stared at Kyra, who's watching me while sitting in the driver's seat.
My wolf, Nova, snarled in my mind. "She's stronger than she looks. Her pup will survive."
She looked exhausted, but I could no longer see the fear that was in her eyes last night. I started the engine and drove away, jamming the earbud in with more force than necessary as I called someone.
"Hello?"
"I'm leaving her now. She's secured at the safehouse," I growled into the phone.
The voice on the other end crackled with barely contained panic. "Is she hurt? Did Carver's enforcers catch her scent?"
"For fuck's sake, I told you twelve hours ago—not a scratch on her," I snapped, peeling away from the curb. Through the side mirror, I caught Kyra's silhouette shrinking in the distance.
I heard him sigh in relief. I just shook my head and smirked.
"You treated her well?" The voice turned dangerous. "I'm telling you, if you don't, I'll come after you."
