Ivy sat at their desk as they waited for test results from a recent crime scene to come back to the lab. They watched the clock as the second and ticked away. Ivy looked over to the window in their office as they listened to the sounds of the paper edges making a small rustling noise with the air conditioning blowing by.
"Yo, Ivy. We just received a call for a kidnapping. Are you coming or no thanks?" Ivy looked over at the tall muscular male standing in the doorway as his body shifted against the frame of the glass door.
"You already know the answer to that question, officer Jake. Fuck yeah I want to help." Ivy gleamed. Ivy shot up like a firework and walked with meaning towards the door. Jake smiled as he followed in pursuit of Ivy.
"So, what do we know about the victim?"
"Female, about 48 years old, looks young. She's lean and is about 5'10. We don't have a name, but we know that she has abdomen length jet black hair with silver streaks, she has a tattoo of spider fangs on her upper arm." Each piece of information listed nonchalantly. Ivy froze in place, their blood ran cold.
"A spider tattoo?" They asked, slowly turning towards Jake. Jake looked at Ivy with a slight tilt in his head.
"Yes, why? Is the tattoo important Ivy?" Jake took out a notepad swiftly as he caught up to Ivy.
"Most spider tattoos signify that a person is a part of the fucking Widows gang. The leader has a Black Widow spider tattoo while the second hand, who is also the leader's child, has a tattoo of a Brazilian wandering spider." Ivy's voice went stone cold as they listed these facts to Jake. He stood like a python waiting for its dinner but with the look of a deer in headlights. He didn't know what to say to that.
"I guess the force trained you well Ivy." Jake joked half heartedly. Ivy wasn't going to tell Jake about the fact that they had been alive for over 200 years and their sibling, Vic had created the gang for entertainment.
"Yea, I read a lot about the different gangs and stuff in this area." Both officers started walking towards the police cruiser, Ivy getting in the driver's seat while Jake sat in the passenger seat. Ivy pulled up the report on the cab computer for the address then they started driving to the scene of the abduction. Ivy drove through the suburbs while the cruiser was so silent, that you could have heard a baby's soft heartbeat.
"Hey Jake, sorry if I sounded rude earlier, I have no excuses." Jake looked over to Ivy and smirked as he pulled the notepad out of his black police bag.
"Why apologize when you gave me more information than the person who called?" he snickered. He looked out the window as the suburbs slowly dwindled from view, like a fire finally going out.
"When we find her, we can take her in for questioning, if she's alive," Ivy said as they drove the car into the gravel on the side of the road. Jake sat up straight, with a baffled look on his face.
"Why are we driving in the fucking gravel? We still have a few minutes until we get to where we're supposed to go." His voice slowly rose with each word he said.
"Don't worry Jake, I know a shortcut to the place we're going. What's the fun in following the road anyways." Ivy joked as they drove down the gravel to the location of the kidnapping.
"We should probably not break the laws of the road, I thought I taught you better." Jake held his head like he was suffering from amnesia. Ivy pulled up to the parking lot of an abandoned supermarket and parked in one of the middle spots.
"You ready to go find a missing Mafia boss?" Jake joked, getting out of the car and standing tall like a full grown snake on the end of its tail. Ivy and Jake walked back to the side of the alleyway to look for clues to where the kidnapped woman might be.
"Look at that wall over there." Jake pointed out a spot on the wall that had just barely dried blood on top of a marking.
