For a long moment, I can't breathe. 

The fractured light spilling over him, catching on the diamonds in his hand, gliding across the sharp lines of his face. He had never looked more untouchable, more dangerous, more divine, like the dark prince every fairytales had warned me about. 

"Ravić..." I breathed, my voice shaking, caught between the awe and the memory of every terrible thing we had survived together. The war inside me raged. From the lives we've lost, the pieces of myself I still mourned. And yet, here he was, on his knees, the most dangerous man I've ever known, offering me the only kind of forever I could have. 

I can't live without him.

"Yes," I whispered. Then stronger, as if saying it would steady me. "Yes, I'll marry you."

His eyes darkened with triumph and something softer, rarer. He slid the ring onto my finger, his hands uncharacteristically gentle. Then he rose, pulling me up with him, his mouth finding mine before I could draw another breath.
