The moment I stepped out of our bedroom, I almost stumbled back. I tried to slam the door back shut, but a foot had already jammed it open. I kicked at it, but it wouldn't budge, just as a hand shot through the gap, knife flashing. The blade barely grazed my shoulder when I staggered back, breath catching in my throat.

Sebastian and Rayna burst in. I stood frozen in the middle of the room, bracing myself.

"What are you doing?" I whispered, eyes wide with betrayal.

"I'm sorry, Rosie," Rayna said, voice cracking, her eyes pleading. So different from last night, making me wonder if it had all been an act. "This is the only way to save my brother."

"You said so yourself," I snapped. "He wasn't beyond saving. What the fuck?"

Sebastian didn't wait for me to finish. He lunged, dagger spinning. I ducked, just as the blade hissed past my shoulder, close enough to burn.

"This is treason," I hissed.
