The night pressed in close around us, heavy with silence. Ravić hadn't moved from where he sat, perched at his side of the bed, like he was still marveling all this, wondering if this was truly his life. He had changed into a new shirt and sweatpants, perfect for lounging around the house, after we attempted to bathe Lucien just awhile ago.
Now that he was fed, changed and burped, he slept again. Soundly, between us now, at our bed. We couldn't help it. His soft breaths the only sound between us and for a moment, it felt almost...normal. Like we truly are a family, now.
