The street outside felt no warmer, but at least now I could breathe again. Being trapped in a windowless room underground, reeking of secrets and fear always made my skin crawl. I was too sober to be in a place like that.

Ravić stalked out of there like a man on a mission, dragging me along behind him. No one dared to step in our way, not even Sebastian's men. And definitely not the lust-fueled crowd on the dance floor. I watched in amazement as they parted like waves, sensing the barely contained violence rolling off of him.

It wasn't until we were halfway down the street that he finally released my arm. The gesture definitely wasn't gentle, but it wasn't cruel either.

I didn't even flinch. I just met his glare head-on, refusing to be the first to look away.

He turned sharply, his red eyes burning into mine, fangs just barely threatening to show.

"What the hell was that, Rosie?" he demanded.

I blinked, still buzzing with adrenaline. "What was what?"
