"I'll see you tonight," I promised, squeezing her hand before letting her go.
"Thank you, Rosie," she murmured. "I'm sorry again, for interrupting you."
"You didn't," I said, shaking my head. "You can always come by, anytime you'd like. It'll be like the old times."
She nodded, finally smiling even though it was faint. But a win is a win.
I closed the door once she walked back into her apartment downstairs, just right below ours. The soft click echoing louder than it should.
When I turned back, the tension I had been holding in my shoulders finally loosened. Only for them to tighten again when I found Ravić, leaning against the doorway leading to our bedroom. Arms folded, a smug little curve tugging at the edges of his lips.
"Well," he drawled, pushing off the frame as he stalked toward me, "'anything you'd like' is a very dangerous promise, don't you think?"
