"Have you ever considered that you might have the wrong person?" She asked, focusing her gaze on the sand.
"Not really. There's a reason you came to this place of all places. You made me fall in love with Solmare, Vee. Remember that one summer your family brought me along? It was when we discovered this place, remember?"
Aveline's fingers dragged towards the sand, and she began to draw odd shapes on it.
"You don't want to talk to me, because you know I'm telling the truth. What happened, Aveline? France became a dead zone for me when your family left. I made my parents look everywhere for you. We hired private investigators, combed through newspapers, and magazines. But it was like you all fell off the surface of the earth."
Aveline continued to draw, but only this time, her heart was stuck in her mouth.
Landon sighed at her silence. It was purposely designed that way to shut him out.
He knew, and because of that knowledge, was fiercely determined not to be shut out.
