Chapter 40 - An Explanation About The Great(-er?) Holy Grail War - By Caren Hortensia

Swiping his glasses up his nose, Caules hid the unease he felt within him as he questioned his Servant. Lady Scathach, as the renowned God killer you are, why have you tensed up...?

Whispering into his ears, despite the monotonous tone, Caules detected faint traces of unease in her voice. Master, the one in front of you, we know her all too well...

Eyes shrinking, Caules caught onto the word 'we'. W-wait, how on earth do they know her...

Before he could ask her, he saw the other masters' eyes widening. They all looked at each other, before realising that their Servants all said the same thing:

They knew her, and she wasn't good news...

Just as GudaGuda was about to start the 'Bully Macguire' dance, Mash raised her shield, bashing it over the redhead's head. "Senpai, do it again, and I swear I won't help you when the lord decides to turn you into a trophy!"

"Eeek! No, my Mashu!"

Seeing she was deadly serious, Fujimura rubbed her head before changing expressions faster than Cu Chulainn getting killed by an unfortunate series of events. Keeping mum, she sat behind the rest of the Masters, taking out a pack of chips from who knows where, and began munching through them. "What, haven't seen an S-level gal eat chips?"

Just as they were about to ask who she was, a loud panting could be heard from the door.

Running in, hands on his knees, was the blue-coloured, permy-haired boy by the name of Matou Shinji. "Sorry I'm late. Had things to do at my end. So, shall we get started then...?"

Just as they thought he was the last one, loud clanking was heard behind them. Under their astonished eyes, a grey-haired girl entered the Church, dragging in a large trashcan. "Oi, this is not a dump. Please leave it outside, thank you very much..."

Though Stelle wanted to argue, the creepy look in Caren's eyes made her slink back in fear, making her drop the trash can outside. Tears in her eyes, Stelle sat at the very back, making sure nobody stole her lovely trash can...

Clapping his hands, Shinji sat near the middle of the Church, face filled with anxiety (though more from shame – damn it Stelle, can't you be normal, FOR ONE SECOND!). Seeing everyone was here, Caren cleared her throat before beginning her explanation on the new Holy Grail War...

"So, as you all know, the regular Holy Grail War has 7 Servants, along with their unfortunate Masters (yeah I mean you, king of cuckoldry), duking it out against each other, to be the final winner of the war. The winner would be granted the right to use the Grail to fulfil any wish of theirs (to a limited degree), and would enjoy their rights as the winner.

Basically a 1 Vs 1 Vs 1 Vs 1 Vs 1 Vs 1 Vs 1

But it's all gone kaput, ever since 14 Servants were summoned instead of the usual 7

So, keeping with the times, I have been told, directly from the Greater Grail, that the competition will be held in 2 stages:

1) A Blue Vs Red team, each consisting of 7 Servants of all classes on either side

2) The winning team would then fight against each other, trying to be the last person standing

Since the Grail has more magic than usual, the wish granted is expected to be twice as powerful than before. Oh, and before I forget, please make your wishes specific and easy to understand...

We don't want a repeat of what happened ten years ago..."

Finishing with a smile, Caren tilted her head to the left, casting an eerie image upon the demure girl. This led a sense of uneasiness to spread amongst the Masters of the red team, who quickly began leaving once they realised that the guide had finished her job.

Damn it, now it's twice the effort for half the work...

Stumbling out of the trash can, the young child, with great difficulty, cleaned out a portion of the mouldy bread. Closing her remaining eye, she pushed aside her filthy red hair before taking a bite. Tears sprang out of her eye upon tasting the sweet sugary snack, travelling down her damaged gullet.

Despite having only five fingers and one eye, Baobhan Sith felt this to be the bestest day of her life...

I wish I could live here for the rest of my life...
