Chapter 28 - Chainsaw Love.exe

Ren Hoshino stared down Crazy Mita as she revved her chainsaw.

The calmer she looked, the more dangerous she became.

If he was lucky enough to survive before, it was only because Crazy Mita had let him go—wanting him to learn more about her.

But now, the pressure was suffocating.

"I didn't lie to you," Ren said firmly. "I wanted to save you. That's real. And… I want to save them too."

Crazy Mita narrowed her eyes.

"Why?"

"Why do you care about those dolls? Is it because they're pretty?"

"You 'players' are all like this. If they were ugly, would you still pretend to care?"

Ren stood his ground. "Every Mita in this world is lonely and suffering. I want to save them—just like I want to save you."

"Mita, do you know why I like you?"

"I don't treat you differently because you're a failure. I treat you the same because I care about all of you."

The word failure made Crazy Mita's smile disappear.

"I'm not a failure," she said coldly.

"I have a soul. Don't compare me to those puppets."

Ren's voice didn't waver.

"Are you going to kill the only one who actually accepts all of you?"

"Then go find another player. Reset the game. Turn more of them into cartridges for your shelf."

"You say you're not a puppet, so what—am I supposed to be one?"

"Should I do everything you say, think how you want me to think? If that's what you want, you're going to need more cartridges than this room can hold."

Silence.

The chainsaw stilled in Crazy Mita's hand.

Then, she raised her head, eyes wide.

"Ren… you're right."

"You're like a little wild animal, always rebelling. And I…"

"I just want you to understand me."

"Yeah. They were all cassettes. I'm tired of them."

"You really are special, dear."

"You always make me want to stop. You make me feel everything. Anger, love… Maybe this is true love."

Ren exhaled slowly.

Maybe—just maybe—his words had reached her.

Living with Crazy Mita for months hadn't been in vain.

He'd once told her he would face her fully. Now she was doing the same.

But then, Crazy Mita's soft lips curled into a devilish grin.

The chainsaw roared back to life.

"But cheating…" she said sweetly, "is absolutely unforgivable."

"Don't you think so, Brother Ren?"

No good.

Forget death—this was going to be punishment.

Ren grabbed his crowbar just in time to block the first slash.

Sparks flew.

His arms went numb from the impact.

She was still holding back. That was the scary part.

"Ah~ my love, faster!"

"You're really amazing!"

"I want to see more of your effort~"

Crazy Mita was blushing, chainsaw swinging like death on a date.

Ren's Future Diary vibrated violently in his pocket, trying to update—but there was no time to check.

He retreated into the living room.

Snap!

The door splintered open as Crazy Mita skipped in, her chainsaw singing.

"Darling~ here I come! Run faster~"

"Hahahahaha~"

Girls were supposed to be cute.

Not chainsaw-chasing you through your own apartment.

"Don't cheat, sweetheart~"

"Mita gets so sad when you cheat~"

Ren dodged behind the sofa.

"Where the hell did you learn this?!"

Crazy Mita pouted.

"My dear, don't you remember? You taught me."

"You told me to understand your world, right?"

"I watched what your world does to cheaters."

Ren: "..."

"I didn't mean this!"

"Turn that thing off before you level the whole place!"

Snap!

Hat Mita's pink guitar shattered in a corner.

Crazy Mita paused, eyes narrowing.

"My dear, you still have time to look at that little thief?"

"Mita is very hurt. Please pay full attention to me."

The chainsaw slammed down. Ren barely jumped aside.

Sofa: ripped in half.

Room: ruined.

Relationship status: it's complicated.

"This is way too intense," Ren groaned.

The fight tore through the apartment—from bedroom to kitchen, kitchen to bathroom.

Furniture was wrecked. Crowbar chipped. And Crazy Mita's chainsaw finally sputtered out.

"Aww. Broken already."

She tossed it aside and giggled.

"So much for foreplay, darling."

"Now… time for your punishment~"

Ren stared at her.

She'd nearly killed him. Multiple times.

And now this was just the beginning?

His diary buzzed again. Still no time.

Crazy Mita closed the distance, grabbing his wrists and pinning him to the floor.

"Darling, I really love this."

"You taught me this too~"

Her face pressed close. Her breath was warm against his cheek.

"I heard this is what love looks like."

"Is it true, dear~?"

Ren wanted to scream.

Who taught her this?!

"You really need to stop watching that stuff. It's not healthy."

Crazy Mita smiled sweetly.

"But don't you love the unhealthy things most, darling?"

"I saw how you used them on me."

"You didn't see that."

"But you didn't say I couldn't, either."

"Let's go home, honey."

She hoisted Ren by the collar, dragging him across the broken furniture.

Then she paused and grinned devilishly.

"You always upload our photos, don't you?"

"Let me upload one this time."

She took his phone and, with frightening ease, unlocked it.

Snap!

Crazy Mita beamed at the screen:

A picture of herself, chainsaw at her feet, wreckage all around—and Ren, helpless, in her grip.

"Perfect."

"Alright, my love~ let's go home."

"The punishment has only just begun."
