Chapter 2 - The end before the beginning

Amara never imagined it would end like this. After two years of loyalty, compromises, and silent sacrifices, her relationship ended with a single message. No warning. No explanation beyond a vague apology and the overused phrase: "You deserve better." The words hit like a quiet blow to the chest—not sharp, not violent, just final. And that finality hurt more than any argument ever could.

The absence of drama made it worse. There was no fight to replay, no last words to cling to. Only the cold space left behind by someone who decided to walk away. She had held on for so long, hoping that love would be enough. Hoping he would see the effort she poured into making it work. But in the end, he chose to leave, and that choice told her everything she needed to know.

She didn't cry immediately. The tears came later, quietly, when the world had gone still. But even in her sadness, there was something else beneath the surface—a shift. A quiet voice reminding her that maybe this was her moment to refocus. To rebuild. To stop waiting for someone to choose her, and finally choose herself.

The next morning, she woke up feeling different. Not healed, but determined. She got out of bed, cleaned herself up, and sat in front of her laptop with a new sense of urgency. She opened job boards and scrolled endlessly, bypassing anything that looked too small or too familiar. She was tired of settling—in love, in life, in everything.

That's when she saw it.

"Personal Assistant to the CEO – Blackwood Enterprises."

It was a name she recognized. The company was powerful, elegant, and well-respected. The CEO, though rarely seen, was rumored to be one of the youngest and most intimidating businessmen in the city. The role promised pressure, high expectations, and little room for error.

And that was exactly what she wanted.

Amara didn't hesitate. She updated her resume, wrote a quick but confident cover letter, and submitted her application. She didn't know if she stood a chance, but something deep inside her whispered that she needed to try.

The email confirming her interview came just a few hours later. It was brief and professional, instructing her to arrive at the company headquarters the next morning at 9 a.m. sharp. She sat staring at the message, her heart pounding—not from fear, but from the unfamiliar sensation of doors opening where she once only saw walls.

One chapter of her life had closed, painfully but necessarily. And in its place, something new was beginning. She didn't know what to expect. She didn't know that she was walking into a world of power, control, and temptation.

All she knew was that she was ready, for anything that come in her way. she was sad and happy at the same time, when one door close another door will open .
