Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: The Truth

HEAVENLY CITY — HEAVEN'S FEEL

The heavenly city was in peril — the massive sectors housing sects that rivaled the Heaven's Archive Sect were set ablaze by white hot pillars of flames around the city.

Across the Heavenly city, everyone knew of his name.

Qingye the Flame Emperor and the first of the Scabbards.

Juin sat within the courthouse and in front of him were several people, all dressed in high-quality clothing and all were begging him to spare their sects and investments from his wrath.

His eyes glowed menacingly as he peered at them— once their sight linked, Juin's ability triggered and he overwhelmed their feeble wills, corrupting them with his essence and sealing their fate.

"What would I benefit from sparing you?" Juin questioned as he snapped his fingers and a maid carrying a chalice strode into the room.

The few members that weren't captured by the ability found it hard to breathe much less answer the question. Everyone in the room knew one thing, persuading the man before them was like moving a mountain.

"The Franxx corporation monthly earnings!"

" The DragonClaw Sect treasured scripture."

" The RavenTalon Sect entire treasury."

The representatives professed and Juin chuckled as he took a sip of his wine.

The elimination of Tiang and Lian'er was a rather sound plan — first beginning with that worthless Yuanchen. He hummed to himself and a thought crossed his mind.

Why did the man target Yuanchen specifically?

Thinking about that soured his mood and he slammed the chalice on the table. "Get out, I need time to think."

The representatives did not need to be told twice and they quickly made their presence excused leaving Juin alone.

With the room deadly silent — Juin got up and walked over to the mirror he had the disciples install after Tiang died; he placed his hand on the surface and it wobbled as the surface became watery.

Juin stared at the dark silhouette on the reflection. "I have a question to ask!"

Juin breathed in deeply, gathering his thoughts. "Why did you say I frame that peasant? He has no special talent, and no ability of his own... So why him? What's so special about him? He's Worthles—"

A wave of malevolent Neuro-Qi flooded into the room chilling the air and cutting Juin off.

The mirror returned to normal leaving Juin's face reflecting on it.

AHHH! Juin turned around a kicked the table across the room. His hands turning ghastly pale as he clenched them into fists. Again! He was treated like a lap dog, and nothing more than a puppet to be used.

Juin calmed himself down; he was going to get his revenge, he needed to bite his time and then, the man will pay.

"Agh!" Yuanchen groaned as he sat upright on the soft mattress. He patted the surface he was resting on and realization flashed in his eyes.

He lost yet again!

Though that was to be expected, he was getting accustomed to using his own two hands to cultivate — even now he still could not believe that he was able to; the engineers and doctors had told him that it was impossible for him to cultivate his Conduits.

"Awake kiddo? You were out like a light." Serena's voice interrupted his musings.

Yuanchen glanced at her and slightly smiled. "Ms Serena, how did we go with Edith?"

He saw Serena's eyes slowly lose their shine.

"I see." He whispered and looked at his hands.

He was still weak — he was weak back then, he was weak when they faced Yakeen and even now he was still weak. He could not even do the most simple thing; repay Serena for her help.

Serena saw the look on Yuanchen's face, she walked closer and placed a hand on his shoulder. "It's not your fault, you couldn't have predicted that everything would turn out this way."

"But..."

"But nothing, it was me who failed Edith not you. Her safety was my responsibility and I compromised that, you need not be too hard on yourself." Serena scolded Yuanchen into submission and the latter could only nod.

She removed her hand and searched her pockets for something; seconds later, she retrieved a letter and handed it to Yuanchen. "Go to this place, there's someone there who can help you get stronger. I have a feeling that, Sunderfall will soon be in chaos."

Yuanchen took the letter and looked at it. "Thanks."

Serena said her farewells and left the room leaving Yuanchen to ponder to his thoughts.

That look on your face is ugly.  A small voice chipped.

Yuanchen internally groaned. "What do you want?" He looked at Jinx from the corner of his eye.

Jinx folded her small hands and stuck her tongue out at him. You are no fun.

"Obviously, when you are surrounded by an annoying pixie like you who would be fun?" Satire rolled off Yuanchen's tongue with each word causing Jinx to turn red and look to the side, lips perked.

Adorable.  Yuanchen caught himself. Did I just think that? She's adorable? That menace? He questioned before clearing his throat. "what do you want?"

Jinx returned her attention onto Yuanchen, her eyes stared at him internally seeing the flourishing combination of Neuro-Qi and Qi. It's time you learn about the power you inherited from my master, since you and my master are the same person now.

Yuanchen sat upright—intrigued by the statement Jinx had brought up. Although he knew that he had inherited something greater, he still couldn't grasp the entire picture. The difference between him and the spirit within him was like heaven and earth.

Seeing that she had Yuanchen's attention, jinx continued. The ability known as Null World is what you have inherited more than anything from my master, yes you can cultivate like him but your cultivation is subpar, however, your aptitude with Null World is the highest I have seen. You might even surpass my master.

A chuckle escaped Yuanchen's lips. "Me? Surpass the creator of the ability? Isn't that kinda dumb?"

Jinx's brow ticked and she snapped her fingers causing an unseen force to smack Yuanchen on the head. You are clueless, about you and who you are but that is not what I was explaining—Null World is a force that's fundamental to the universe itself, capable of rewriting fate, casualty and more from just your word but at your current level you can barely use it's full power. You can only use 5% of the ability. Jinx snapped her fingers again causing the world to shift in Yuanchen's perspective. There are seven level to Null World, and I am on the first one as the Administrator, to use the full might of Null World, you have to conquer all of them.

Yuanchen sat on the bed. I can do that? never in his wildest dreams had he thought of being able to do what Jinx had said—he knew gods existed, individuals that ascended even immortality, Cultivators that had gained enlightenment, able to craft and destroy worlds with their breathing and he had the power to topple all of that.

Casualty, and Fate, if those two were at his disposal, what else was this mysterious power hiding?

With it, he could return back to Heaven's Feel and clear his name.

His expression changed—long gone was the self-pity and sorrowful face. Replacing it was a face of a man who was determined to tackle the world head on, like a wrecking ball.

"What do I need to do?"
