Chapter 156 - Chapter 92: The DJ

Chapter 92: The DJ

The girls exchanged a look. Asui looked toward the back of the bus and asked hesitantly, "Excuse me, ma'am... are you talking about Bakugo?"

A woman with the exact same spiky, ash-blond hair as Bakugo lifted her head. She had one foot propped up on the seat, her right hand resting on a wooden sword behind her. Her duster coat was draped over her, unmoving despite the lack of wind. She said coolly, "I am Bakugo. What is it?"

Seeing an adult, female version of Bakugo staring at them with a look that was both calm and domineering, Uraraka and the others frantically shook their heads. "Our apologies, ma'am! We didn't mean anything!"

Another woman chimed in, "Wait a minute, Boss. These girls look like they're U.A. students. Aren't they your son Katsuki's classmates?"

The "Boss" blinked, looked them over carefully, and then her expression relaxed into a smile. "Oh, my apologies. You're my bratty son's classmates, aren't you? I didn't really watch the Sports Festival broadcast, so I didn't recognize you."

"That's okay, ma'am!" Uraraka let out a secret sigh of relief. No wonder she's Bakugo's mother, she thought. That intimidating aura is on another level!

Seeing that no one else was getting on, the bus driver closed the doors, and the bus slowly pulled away from the curb. And then—

WHAM!

A loud bang echoed from the roof of the bus. A massive dent appeared directly above the driver's head.

What's happening!? Is it a villain attack!?

Some of the people on the bus panicked, while others tensed up, ready to face the impending attack.

Momo Yaoyorozu instantly reacted, her hand moving to the wide collar of her kimono, ready to create a tool at any moment. Asui gripped the back of the seat in front of her, her tongue ready to strike. Mitsuki Bakugo, the "Boss," sat calmly in her seat, radiating the air of a general, her hand gripping her wooden sword, ready for a drawing-strike.

A rabbit's head appeared upside down outside the driver's side window. It flashed a smile, and then—

CRASH!

It punched right through the glass.

"Whoa!" Even as the driver of the late-night Route 13 bus, a man who had seen countless bloody battles, he panicked, and the steering wheel began to wobble violently.

The rabbit reached through the shattered window, grabbed the steering wheel, and steadied the bus's course. He smiled, his buck teeth showing. "I'm late! Driver, you've got room for one more!"

You're just a late passenger!? Then why did you have to board the bus like that!?

The passengers in the bus silently lowered their weapons.

The driver swallowed hard as he looked at the hand on his steering wheel. "Y-Yes... of course!"

He didn't dare refuse.

"Thanks!" The rabbit smiled and retracted his head from the roof. The driver then felt a gust of wind whip past his ear, and in the next instant, the man appeared inside the bus.

So fast! Uraraka was shocked. That speed was much faster than Iida's, rivaling even All Might.

The rabbit had long, white ears and a red scarf tied around his neck. He was wearing a tight, black tracksuit. He looked like that famous cartoon character Bugs Bunny, or maybe the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.

While Asui's Quirk was "Frog," her appearance was mostly human. But this Rabbit Man... his head was a perfectly round rabbit's head, as if he were a rabbit personified.

The Rabbit Man stretched, then pulled something from behind his back as if by magic—a pointed wizard's hat, which he placed on his head, conveniently covering his upright ears.

Then, he looked left and right, sat down in an empty seat by the door, and grasped the horizontal bar with both hands, sitting bolt upright like an elementary school student.

Although he was strange, on a bus that already looked like a monster convention, the other passengers quickly lost interest in him.

Time passed quickly. With a screech, the bus came to a stop at their final destination: Seaside Park.

The area, which was usually deserted, was today filled with a bustling crowd. Two or three thousand people were gathered by the sea under the twilight sky. It sounded like a lot, but compared to a regular stadium concert, which could easily draw ten thousand, it was nothing.

"Jiro, has this band always had this many fans?" Uraraka asked curiously.

"Not at all. The previous 'soul' concerts were in tiny venues. They only ever sold a few hundred tickets, and they always sold out immediately," Jiro said, also looking surprised. "I was worried we wouldn't be able to get tickets, but it looks like the organizer this time has a lot of money. They booked the entire Seaside Park..."

After getting their tickets checked at the entrance, which was roped off with yellow tape, the girls parted ways with Bakugo's mother and entered the concert grounds. The people from the subway station were just a small sample of the crowd gathered here. Everyone was dressed in eccentric outfits that were rarely seen in public. In the dark, even Momo's formal kimono no longer stood out.

A massive truck was parked sideways in front of the crowd, dark and unlit, serving as the stage. Next to the truck was a van covered in antennas, with a large speaker set on its roof. It was currently broadcasting an underground radio station—a station that was doing a live broadcast of the concert.

"Welcome, listeners! Welcome to the 'Queen Alive' concert by the band 'soul'! You must all be sick and tired of that complicated, noisy electronic junk, right!? Hahaha! That stuff isn't worth listening to! Do you remember the wonder that The Beatles brought you? Do you remember the romance of 'My Heart Will Go On'!?"

"Next up, we'll be hearing from the former Pro Hero, Makoto Hibikiya, and the members of 'soul' as they bring us another one-of-a-kind concert! They will be performing on behalf of a legendary band! Their name is—QUEEN!"

"But it's clear our band still needs more time to prepare. So for now, I'm going to play that song you're all most interested in. It's also from Queen. Its name is... 'Get Down, Make Love'!"

"'Get Down... Make...'" Momo blushed. "That title is so explicit! How can this radio station play a song like that!?"

Jiro gave a wry smile. "That song... for some reason, it wasn't destroyed during the great purge. Over the years, as the people who remembered Queen passed it down by word of mouth, it's become their most well-known song."

Uraraka also laughed awkwardly. Am I making a mistake, listening to this kind of dirty song at a public concert? But, ignoring the lyrics, the rhythm was actually pretty good. Uraraka's body began to sway lightly to the music.

"Hmm? I see a listener has pointed out that there are many women in the audience, and it might be inappropriate to play this song? Hahaha! We're an underground radio station that fears nothing! Even if someone reports our frequency to the police, it doesn't matter! We'll just have a new frequency next week! Hahaha!" the DJ let out a loud laugh.

"Huh? Listening to his voice... why does this DJ sound so familiar?" Uraraka said, shaking her head. But she quickly dismissed the thought. "I probably just watch too much TV..."

"Everyone, as you can see, just like this song, there is only one thing in the river of history that is eternal and full of life! Let's shout its name—SEX! SEX! SEX!"

Uraraka, it's not your imagination.

Seeing the DJ go further and further off the rails, Jiro, to the surprise of her friends, pulled out her phone and dialed a number. "I'm at the venue," she said coolly. "I'm giving you ten seconds to shut your lewd mouth. Otherwise, tomorrow I will make you experience the meaning of 'unfit to teach' and ensure your social death."

The voice leading the crowd's atmosphere abruptly cut off. After half a minute, it returned, the man laughing awkwardly. "Listeners, I was just kidding earlier! That one eternal thing that is full of life is, of course... MUSIC!"

"Our time is up! Let's give a warm welcome to the dazzling debut of the band 'soul'! Cheer for them, everyone!"

Inside the van, the DJ wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. I can't believe... she actually came here. No, wait... of course she would come here.
