Chapter 64 - ⁶⁴: dreams of past?

"So… how was your first day of work overall?" Liora asked, her voice light and curious as she stepped into Elara's room, closing the door behind her.

"It was… fine," Elara replied with a soft smile, sinking onto her bed. "Compared to the work I used to do, this is… well, relatively easier. And the best part? When I finish my work, I can take breaks. I can actually rest. It feels like… a dream come true." Her eyes sparkled with genuine satisfaction; it wasn't just the work, but the way she had been treated, everyone's kindness and respect, something she had craved her whole life.

Liora's lips curved into a teasing grin. "Yeah, gardening might seem fun on the first day… but when you have to do it every day, just wait. One day, you'll be saying, 'Oh, Liora! My back is killing me!'" She exaggerated the gesture, putting her hands on her lower back and groaning dramatically, her voice mimicking Elara.
