Chapter 9 - Urban Pokémon [9]

Even though it wasn't the Beedrill template, Nidoking wasn't a bad outcome.

After all, Nidoran♂-line Pokémon weren't exactly rare.

That said, if he was going to train a Nidoran♂, he'd obviously want one with the hidden ability.

That part might be a little tricky.

Well, let's see if my bargain-bin student can figure something out.

Given Su Qingxue's background, finding a Nidoran♂ with the hidden ability shouldn't be too difficult.

So for now, Guo Yi shelved the problem of how to obtain one.

Next on the agenda—

Was the most exciting part: opening the [Newcomer Gift Pack].

With a student whose potential matches Giovanni's, I wonder just how generous this gift pack will be...

He took a deep breath and tapped to open it.

[Ding! Congratulations, Host — you have received Giovanni's Master Ball.]

[Ding! Congratulations, Host — you have received Giovanni's Beedrill Template.]

[Ding! Congratulations, Host — you have received 1,000 Trainer Points.]

Three consecutive system notifications echoed through Guo Yi's mind.

He quickly began checking the details one by one.

[Giovanni's Master Ball]

[Description:A Poké Ball capable of capturing any Pokémon. As Giovanni's personal Master Ball, the Pokémon it summons are all rare and powerful.]

[Effect:Allows the user to summon one of Giovanni's Pokémon — from the games, anime, or manga — at its peak form for a duration of one hour.]

Stunned.

Guo Yi was completely floored by this item.

This is basically a way to summon one of Giovanni's strongest Pokémon to fight for me for an entire hour?!

And it wasn't even limited to just one version — it included the games, anime, and manga.

Which meant only two Pokémon popped into Guo Yi's mind: Deoxys and Mewtwo.

Deoxys didn't need much explanation.

In the Pokémon Adventures manga (Special), Deoxys was Giovanni's ultimate trump card — an absolute powerhouse.

And the item description had specifically mentioned "peak form."

Which meant—

If Guo Yi summoned Deoxys, it could freely switch between its Normal, Attack, Defense, and Speed forms.

And if it could shift fast enough mid-battle—

That was essentially a 910 base stat monster in one body.

Even Mewtwo in its standard form couldn't beat that.

But even knowing how terrifying Deoxys is...

Guo Yi's top pick was still Mewtwo.

Because "peak form" might mean it could be summoned in its [Mega Evolution] form.

Let's not forget—

Mewtwo, besides Charizard, is the only Pokémon with two[Mega Evolutions].

Mega Mewtwo X transformed its body, giving it enhanced muscle mass and the Fighting-type.

With its newly gained physical prowess, it had no weaknesses — whether long-range or close combat.

Mega Mewtwo Y, on the other hand, leaned into its Special Attack, enhancing it to a horrifying base stat of 194 — the undisputed highest in the entire Pokémon world.

So, if he could summon a [Mega-Evolved] Mewtwo...

Even a fully adaptive Deoxys would have to take a back seat.

Soon enough—

Guo Yi's theory was confirmed by the system.

He could summon a Mega Mewtwo via Giovanni's [Master Ball].

Which meant Guo Yi now possessed a true god-tier trump card.

No wonder the[Newcomer Gift Pack] for a student with Giovanni-tier potential is so insane…

This one [Master Ball] alone is enough to sweep anything.

If only the summon didn't expire after an hour… I wouldn't need students at all. I could just cruise to the top!

Guo Yi shook his head with a bit of faux humility and put the [Master Ball] away.

Luckily, only he could hear these self-indulgent thoughts.

Anyone else who knew what he had just received would be chasing him down to beat him to a pulp.

To get something this broken and still complain about the time limit? That's just cruel to everyone else!

Next, he moved on to the second reward in the gift pack:

[Giovanni's Beedrill Template]

[Description: Beedrill may be one of the most common, ordinary Pokémon in the world — but in the hands of Team Rocket Boss Giovanni, it reached a power level that could stand against legendary Pokémon.]

[Effect: When bound to a Beedrill-line Pokémon, this template channels the accumulated strength of Giovanni's Beedrill from the games, anime, and manga, becoming the basis for its long-term growth.]

Now this is what I call thoughtful!

If the [Master Ball] is about giving me instant invincibility, then this Beedrill template is about investing in the future.

Maybe it was because the [Master Ball] had shocked him so much that this second item didn't seem quite as dramatic.

But that didn't mean it was any less valuable.

After all—

This was the combined essence of Giovanni's Beedrill across all three continuities.

That meant the future of his Beedrill would be limitless.

Just look at the manga, for example.

Giovanni's Beedrill could go toe-to-toe with legendary Pokémon.

And now Guo Yi had that power base plus the game and anime incarnations layered on top?

If his Beedrill reached its full potential…

It might genuinely be capable of challenging, and even defeating, a Legendary in solo combat.

Compared to the first two rewards, the third one — the [Trainer Points] — seemed much more mundane.

These were simply points he could spend in the [Store].

Their value would depend on what Guo Yi needed at any given moment.
