Chapter 1: Pokémon, I Choose You!

The sun rises over the sleepy town of Pallet, casting a golden glow across the red rooftops and winding dirt roads. A calm breeze sways the tall grass, and the sound of Pidgeys chirping fills the air. Today isn't just another peaceful morning—it's the day a new generation of Pokémon trainers begins their journey.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

The sharp alarm cut through the silence as Jay jolted awake, tangled in his blanket. His brown eyes blinked open slowly, and for a second, he forgot where he was.

Then he heard it—his grandma's voice, loud and warm from the kitchen below.

"Jay! You're finally up? Hurry up, it's your big day, remember? Don't tell me you forgot you're picking your starter Pokémon today!"

Jay sat up straight, eyes wide. "Starter Pokémon!" he muttered, leaping out of bed. "I almost overslept on the most important day of my life?!"

He rushed to get dressed, combing through his bag, pulling on his red hoodie and black cargo pants like a whirlwind. As he bolted downstairs, the smell of eggs and toast hit him.

His grandpa sat at the table with a newspaper, glasses low on his nose. He peeked over it with a grin. "So... ready to become the next Champion?"

Jay smirked, grabbing a bite of toast on the run. "I was born ready."

Outside, Pallet Town was buzzing. Colorful banners hung between houses, people gathered with cameras, and even a small news crew had set up near the town square. Every year, three trainers from Pallet were chosen to start their journey and challenge the Kanto League. This year, Jay was one of them.

The walk to Professor Oak's lab felt electric. Beside him walked another trainer—Troy, quiet but confident, with sharp eyes and spiky blue hair. They didn't say much, just exchanged nods. Both knew what today meant.

The crowd at the lab cheered as they approached.

"Jay! Troy! Good luck!"

"You'll make Pallet proud!"

"Catch 'em all!"

Jay's heart pounded with excitement. The lab doors opened automatically as they stepped in, revealing the massive dome-like interior filled with shelves of Poké Balls, computers, and machines humming softly.

And there he was.

"Ho ho! Right on time!" Professor Oak beamed, waving his arms as he walked toward them. "Two bright young faces, full of potential! This is what I live for!"

He adjusted his coat, accidentally knocking over a stack of Pokédex manuals. "Oops, heh... anyway! Are you two ready?"

Jay and Troy nodded.

"Then let's begin the ceremony!"

With a dramatic wave, Oak pressed a button, and a platform rose from the floor. Three Poké Balls gleamed in the center. Oak picked them up one by one, releasing the Pokémon inside.

"Bulbasaur!"

"Squirtle!"

"Charmander!"

The three Pokémon stood proudly, each one eyeing the trainers curiously.

Oak smiled. "You both get to choose. One each. First come, first served."

Troy stepped forward without hesitation. "Bulbasaur," he said calmly. The grass-type walked up to him, bumping its head against his leg with a gentle purr.

Jay stood there for a second, eyes shifting between the other two.

Squirtle looked confident, arms crossed. Charmander stared at him with curious eyes and a flickering flame.

Jay thought back to the old posters in his room. The videos of Charizard flying through the skies, breathing fire like a dragon. He grinned.

"I choose... Charmander."

Oak raised a brow. "Any reason why?"

Jay shrugged, rubbing the back of his head. "I don't know... I just like dragons."

Oak chuckled. "Fair enough!"

Charmander stepped forward, raising its tiny claws with a proud chirp. Jay knelt down, meeting its gaze.

"We're gonna be awesome together."

As he stood up, the crowd outside cheered even louder. Troy had already left, walking toward Route One. Jay followed, holding Charmander in his arms like a precious gift.

Back inside the lab, Oak watched with a satisfied smile.

And just as the doors closed behind Jay—

DING!

A soft digital chime echoed in Jay's mind.

[System Activated.]

Jay froze mid-step, eyes widening.

What... was that?

The adventure had only just begun.
