Chapter 4 - Special request

She made her way to the cafe after school..putting her school bag down and typing her apron as she jogged through the back door. The usual hum of espresso machines and indie music greeted her,home..kinda

Mr. Davis, her boss, barely looked up from the tablet

"You're late by three and a half minutes,Lexie".

"And you're still wearing socks with sandals"

She fires back, sliding behind the counter.

He didn't even flinch

"Touché"..

About an hour into her shift, after delivering two caramel lattes and a half hearted smile, she was called to the back.

Mr Davis looked oddly...serious.

"we've got an order".

He said, holding out a printed receipt.

"Like really big. And the customer asked for you to deliver it"

Lexie blinked

"Me?"

He nodded

"Name's not familiar but they double paid. Tips already added"

"Is it creepy or flattering?".

Mr. Davis shrugged

"As long as you dont get kidnapped, its flattering"

Lexie glanced at the paper, squinting at the fancy printed address as if it might magically change, sipping her afternoon espresso.

She shifted awkwardly on her scooter as she pulled up to her location. And by location, she meant a house soo massive ,it could easily double as a bond villain's vacation home. Gated entrance, high walls, cameras and hedges trimmed like they were in a royal garden competition.

"What in the secret billionaire is this"

She muttered.

She pulled out her helmet and shook her hair, approaching the iron gate. She held the warm pastry package awkwardly like it was a peace offering.

Two men in black suit stood at the entrance, arms folded, sunglasses on despite the overcast sky. Classic..

She forced a smile

"Delivery..?"

One of the gaurd raised a brow, then glanced at his tablet. He gave a slight nod to the other, who opened the gate.

No questions.

No "who sent you?"

Just open.

Lexie blinked

"Okay then..this is fine. Totally normal. Not suspicious at all".

As she stepped inside, the gravel crouched under her sneakers, and the whole place smelled faintly of lavender and money.

She followed the stone path, hearth thudding.

Was she about to be in a secret society?

Or worse, what if it was a prank? Some influencer 's dumb idea of content?

She reached the front porch and before she could knock,it opened.

She stepped into the house cautiously ,still holding the delivery bag like it was a bomb and not a bag of overpriced pastries.

Before she could call out,a voice cut through.

"Omg,you're here "
