Chapter 98 - Chapter 97: This Is a Farewell Gift!

Konoha, Hokage's Office Building.

As chaos engulfed the entire Konoha Village, one of the greatest threats came from the rampaging Shukaku. Although Jiraiya, one of the legendary Sannin, did his best to hold off the rampaging tailed beast, the devastation it caused was still immense. Shukaku's erratic Wind Style attacks whipped through the village, leaving destruction in their wake and making the situation increasingly difficult to control.

Inside the Hokage's office, a group of Anbu were working rapidly, their movements sharp and efficient.

"All these scrolls must be transferred immediately!" one of them ordered.

These were the personal Anbu under the direct command of the Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen. Their mission was clear: secure and relocate all of the valuable scrolls and documents stored by the Third Hokage—scrolls containing decades of knowledge, strategies, and secrets.

Among the Anbu, one figure stood out. A tall kunoichi with long purple hair, clad in the traditional Anbu uniform and wearing a fox-like mask. Her name was Uzuki Yugao. As she carried out her duties, her eyes drifted toward the window. Though her hands moved diligently, her heart was far away, clouded with worry.

She knew. She had known for a while now about Uzumaki Naruto's plan.

But even with that knowledge, now that the moment had arrived, she couldn't help but worry.

"Naruto is powerful... He'll be okay," she whispered under her breath, trying to reassure herself.

Shaking off her emotions, she focused once more on sorting the Third Hokage's most prized possessions. She was careful—every scroll, every document, every artifact might hold vital secrets.

Suddenly, a shadow moved across the rooftop.

A black figure appeared upside down, clinging to the ceiling with perfect chakra control. He wore a black cloak that fluttered in the wind, a golden mane peeking from beneath a white fox mask. His presence exuded a mysterious and dangerous aura.

"An intruder!" one of the Anbu shouted.

Without hesitation, the room exploded with a barrage of attacks.

"Water Style: Water Bullet!"

"Wind Style: Vacuum Wave!"

"Fire Style: Fire Dragon Flame Bomb!"

Three elemental ninjutsu collided as the Anbu tried to neutralize the intruder with deadly force. But just as the techniques were about to hit their target, a red aura burst forth around the masked figure. The chakra shroud of a tailed beast cloaked him entirely.

And then—he vanished.

"So fast!" one of the Anbu gasped.

The masked intruder had moved with such speed that the eye couldn't even follow. In the next instant, a massive sword—none other than the infamous Beheading Blade—flashed through the room.

Five Anbu fell.

Their lives were taken in an instant.

Only one remained—Uzuki Yugao.

Yet, there was no fear in her eyes.

Instead, she reached up and removed her mask, revealing her beautiful, solemn face.

"...Naruto."

The masked figure removed his own disguise, revealing the face of none other than Uzumaki Naruto. Or rather—this was his clone, Uzumaki Menma.

During the village-wide chaos, Naruto had created a shadow clone with a singular purpose: infiltrate the Hokage's office and retrieve the heritage that rightfully belonged to the long-lost Uzumaki Clan.

"Everything you want is here," Yugao said softly, gesturing to the pile of scrolls and documents.

Naruto wasted no time. He unsealed a large scroll and absorbed everything in the room into it—every document, every relic, every forbidden or forgotten piece of information. Some of these were related to the Uzumaki Clan. Others, like the crystal ball Sarutobi used to monitor Konoha, were simply spoils of war.

But Naruto had made up his mind.

If Sarutobi Hiruzen had the gall to take from the Whirlpool Country all those years ago, then it was only fair for Naruto to take from him today.

"But... Naruto," Yugao murmured. "The Third Hokage is still alive."

"Don't worry. He won't survive today anyway," Naruto replied coldly.

Elsewhere, in the observation room where this moment was being watched through a black screen, the Third Hokage could no longer remain silent.

Sarutobi Hiruzen's face twisted with fury and grief. "Yugao! You betrayed me?! After everything I did for you?! I trained you with my own hands!"

But Yugao only looked down, her expression distant.

The version of her in that world was not the version in this world. She was no traitor—but neither was she the obedient pawn Sarutobi thought she was.

On the screen, she looked at Naruto. The light in her eyes softened. Since the death of Moonlight Gai, she had felt hollow. She had no reason to believe in the "Will of Fire" anymore. It had become empty rhetoric.

But Naruto... he gave her something new to believe in. Both emotionally and spiritually, she had been transformed—reshaped by Uzumaki Naruto's ideals.

Hatake Kakashi clenched his fists. "If Naruto really gets all those scrolls, and with his ridiculous level of comprehension... he'll become unstoppable!"

Shizune added, "It's not just about jutsu, Kakashi! The documents in the Hokage's office contain the deepest, darkest secrets of the ninja world."

Her words made everyone present fall silent.

Indeed. This wasn't just about ninjutsu scrolls.

These files contained information on every major village—their tactics, their crimes, their dirty laundry. Things that were meant to be buried forever.

If Naruto read all of that—if he understood the hidden truth of the shinobi world—then everything would change. His sense of justice, his wrath, his sense of betrayal...

A bloodstorm was inevitable.

The Fourth Raikage looked especially nervous. He had good reason to be.

The documents surely included the time when his village kidnapped Uzumaki Kushina, Naruto's mother, right from under Konoha's nose. Or the attack on the Whirlpool Country, orchestrated jointly by the great nations, including the Land of Lightning.

These secrets were supposed to remain buried.

Even if everyone had long suspected the truth, as long as it wasn't public, it didn't matter. They could pretend innocence. The power structure remained intact.

But now... the entire shinobi world was watching this live.

Once exposed, these revelations would destroy the prestige of the Five Great Nations. Their so-called moral superiority would crumble. The truth, once out in the open, couldn't be taken back.

And when that happens?

The small nations would rebel.

The people would rise.

War would erupt.

The Fourth Raikage could already see it—Konoha's collapse would be just the beginning. If Naruto's revenge extended to the Land of Lightning, they might suffer an even worse fate.

Far away, the Second Hokage Senju Tobirama also frowned gravely.

He understood.

He knew very well what was contained in those scrolls.

There were records of his own past—his human experimentation, the foundation of the Konoha Orphanage, and the manipulation of orphans like Danzo, Orochimaru, and Kabuto.

He had justified his actions as being for Konoha's survival. But deep down, he knew Hashirama, his brother, would never have approved. He had explicitly forbidden such experimentation.

In the eyes of history, what Tobirama did was no different than what Orochimaru did later. The only difference?

He carried the Will of Fire while doing it.

"Alright, this place is pretty much cleaned out," Naruto said at last.

He replaced his white fox mask, once again becoming Uzumaki Menma.

After giving Yugao her instructions, Menma disappeared from the Hokage office and reappeared in Konoha's busiest commercial street—right in the heart of the village.

He stood silently atop a tall building, gazing down at the people below.

Even in a moment of crisis, Konoha remained bustling, as if unaware of its impending doom.

And yet...

A strange chakra began to swirl in his hand.

A Rasengan.

But it wasn't blue—it was purple.

Infused with immense chakra, compressed and spun to the limits, the purple Rasengan looked like a miniature planet. It pulsed with danger.

"There's not much I want to say in farewell," Uzumaki Menma muttered.

"So I'll leave you with a little souvenir from me to Konoha... A parting gift."
