Chapter 8 - ! The gradually changing plot

"A man cannot be a mother."

Suddenly, Jill felt it necessary to help Shen Ye review middle school biology, but after thinking about it, she decided it wasn't the right time.

However, when Shen Ye took out the bayonets from the makeshift sheath on his leg and looked at them, Jill finally couldn't hold back. She fiercely waved her fist at Shen Ye and was the first to step onto the path.

They hadn't walked far along the path when a small wooden house appeared before them.

Then, they saw the "girl" wandering in front of the wooden house, the experimental subject Lisa.

This poor girl had already been tortured beyond recognition; with most of her consciousness lost, she now only had one idea etched into her genes: to find her mother.

Shen Ye didn't know why, in the game's plot, Lisa didn't peel off Jill's face after knocking her out, but one thing was certain: she definitely wouldn't show him any mercy.

As expected, upon discovering the two, Lisa immediately lunged at them, mumbling a blurred word: Mother.

At this moment, Shen Ye didn't care if Lisa was pitiful or not; she was already a monster. He decisively fired a few shots at Lisa, but it had no effect; ordinary methods simply couldn't harm her.

Shen Ye showed an expression of 'just as I thought' and shouted, "Jill, don't waste bullets, let's go quickly."

Coming here with Jill was only to find Barry; only a fool would waste ammunition on this unkillable monster.

Jill nodded, but felt a little anxious because she hadn't seen Barry.

The two could only fight and retreat, but Lisa was unkillable, and for a time, they couldn't shake off her pursuit.

Shen Ye became a little anxious because Lisa's target had always been him. Even though Jill was closer to Lisa several times, her target didn't change.

Jill noticed this phenomenon, and listening to Lisa's blurred words, she even had the mood to joke.

"Shen, she's calling you mother!"

Shen Ye crouched on the ground, fired a long burst, and took a moment to glare at Jill, then stood up indignantly and said, "I don't want to be a male mother…"

Inside the mansion annex.

Shen Ye gasped for a few breaths.

Jill, who was beside him, withdrew her gaze from Lisa, who was leaving outside the window, and took off her water bottle to hand it to him.

"Thank you." Shen Ye was not polite; he took the water bottle and poured it into his mouth.

After drinking more than half a bottle of water, Shen Ye let out a long breath, unceremoniously wiped his mouth with his sleeve, and then returned the water bottle to Jill.

Just as he was about to complain about Lisa's favoritism, Jill suddenly made a shushing gesture.

Shen Ye was startled for a moment, then, at Jill's beckoning, came to a room in the annex.

Room 002.

Shen Ye glanced at the room number, and the plot from the game flashed through his mind…

At this moment, Jill took another step forward. She pressed against the door and adopted a listening posture.

There seemed to be people talking in the room, but all the rooms in the mansion had been soundproofed, so Jill couldn't hear very clearly.

But Shen Ye knew that it was Barry talking to Wesker.

"Speaking of which, in the original plot, after Jill entered the mansion, she would often encounter Wesker and Barry, but now…"

Shen Ye recalled the plot, feeling that his intervention had changed the storyline.

However, Shen Ye also knew that after he intervened in the plot, he hadn't interfered too much. Most of the time, he followed the plot because he was afraid that if the plot changed too much, unforeseen consequences would arise, and that would be truly terrifying.

While he was thinking, Jill made a move. The conversation in the room seemed to have ended. She directly pulled out her lock-picking tools, opened the door lock, and pushed the door open to enter.

Inside the room stood a tall, middle-aged white man. Upon seeing Jill and Shen Ye enter, a trace of unnaturalness flashed across his face.

Although he quickly hid it, both Shen Ye and Jill caught it.

"Barry, who were you just talking to?" Jill scrutinized the expression on Barry's face, and after almost making Barry uncomfortable, she finally spoke.

"You heard wrong, Jill, that was just me talking to myself. Perhaps it's because I'm getting old; I always do that." Just like in the plot. Barry indeed used his age as an excuse.

"Is that so?" Jill was half-skeptical, but she looked around and found nothing.

At this moment, Barry looked at Shen Ye and asked, "Jill, who is he?"

Jill frowned and, after a moment of thought, slowly said, "Barry, I know you might not believe it, but I want to say that his name is Shen Ye, and he is a tourist from an Eastern country."

"A tourist?" Barry, just like Jill when she first heard Shen Ye introduce himself, expressed his skepticism: "A tourist with a rifle?"

"Uh… yes, after all, our country is a free country, and everyone has the right to own a rifle," Jill said awkwardly. She suddenly understood Shen Ye; finding a reasonable excuse was too difficult.

"Then he must be very popular with the rifle association." Barry glanced at Shen Ye: "They just like people like him."

Hearing Barry's seemingly sarcastic words, Shen Ye just smiled and didn't offer too many explanations.

He knew very well that Barry probably already knew of his existence. When they entered the door just now, Barry hadn't shown an overly surprised expression; Wesker had probably told him in advance.

"Alright, Barry, we don't need to continue on this topic. We have very important things to do." Jill noticed that the atmosphere was a bit off and quickly said.

Barry nodded. He also didn't want to waste time here. After telling Jill to be careful, he walked straight out of the room.

"Barry, aren't you coming with us?" Jill asked.

Barry didn't look back: "I want to go out and get some fresh air. It's really too smelly in here. I'll come find you later."

With that, he left the annex.

Looking at Barry's back, Shen Ye helplessly shrugged at Jill: "He doesn't seem to welcome me."

"If I were Barry, I wouldn't welcome you either." Jill gave him a sidelong glance: "Heaven knows what you're really trying to do."

Shen Ye shrugged and smiled: "Believe me, I'm really just here for tourism."

Upon hearing this, Jill looked deeply at Shen Ye, then nodded and said, "Perhaps!"

Of all the buildings in the mansion, there were many rooms.

The two repeated the action of entering and exiting rooms and quickly finished a rough search of the annex.

Combining the information she knew, Jill also learned that there was a research facility under the mansion. She suggested to Shen Ye that they explore the entire underground facility of the mansion.

Shen Ye agreed with some hesitation.

Originally, this part of the plot should have happened after Jill met Wesker, but ever since Shen Ye appeared, Wesker, who had appeared several times to guide Jill, had not shown up. Even Barry, after separating from them in Room 002, was nowhere to be found.

"So, I still changed the plot?"

Shen Ye thought, troubled.
