Chapter 82 - Hibari, Did You Steal the Raikage's Legacy?

With dawn approaching, Kagami still hadn't seen Hibari emerge from the building. Though anxious, he couldn't continue waiting on the rooftop near the Raikage's office building.

Otherwise, once everyone started their day, he would surely be noticed. And since it was almost dawn, Hibari might be trapped inside for the entire day, only able to emerge the following night.

So, Kagami Uchiha decided to return to the inn to rest and make other preparations to provide backup for Hibari whenever needed.

But when he returned to the inn and pushed open the door, he saw that bastard Hibari soundly asleep on the bed, seemingly enjoying his nap.

This infuriated Kagami. He walked over and kicked Hibari's butt, complaining discontentedly, "When did you get back, you bastard? I didn't see you leave the building!"

Kicked awake, Hibari stirred, somewhat annoyed. He looked at Kagami and said, "Are you kidding? What do you take me for? I'm the Anbu Commander; do you think you can just casually discover my whereabouts? I came back in the middle of the night. I didn't see you, so I just went to sleep..."

"Commander, my foot! You're only Commander if I give you face. Otherwise, just like with Hitenn, you're just a Deputy Commander," Kagami said, displeased.

However, seeing that Hibari had indeed returned unharmed, he felt some relief. He roused Hibari and asked, "Don't sleep yet. Tell me what happened. Did you get anything? Don't tell me you just went in there to sightsee..."

Hibari now sat up. Since he had been woken, he had no intention of continuing to sleep. Instead, he chuckled and said, "You wouldn't believe how hilarious this operation was. Too many coincidences..."

He excitedly rambled on to Kagami about how 'divinely assisted' his previous night had been, and Kagami roughly understood what Hibari had encountered.

"So, my fire wasn't set in vain after all. It did help you out a bit," Kagami said with a smile.

"Yes, that's right. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been so smooth. The people of Kumogakure are truly 'big-hearted.' They probably won't realize for a long time that their Raikage building has been thoroughly explored by us," Hibari said with a laugh.

"Alright, enough about that. Did you get anything worthwhile?" Kagami asked.

Hibari reached for a scroll from his waist and said, "Who do you take me for? I personally went in; how could I not get anything? I copied all the documents in the Raikage's office. You could say that, except for what's sealed in their archives or intelligence department, we've gotten all of Kumogakure's secrets."

Hearing Hibari's words, Kagami was very excited. He asked, "What about matters concerning the war?"

"Those things are likely in the intelligence. However, this isn't the place to organize intelligence, and neither of us is a professional at this. Before coming here, I thought we'd have to lie low for two or three weeks to get anything, but I didn't expect to finish everything in one night. So, let's not linger here. Let's quickly return to the village, hand these things over to the Hokage, and let the Intelligence Division handle it," Hibari said, rubbing his hands with a smug expression.

Kagami pondered this. Although the intelligence hadn't been organized yet, Hibari made a good point. They had obtained everything they needed; there was no great need to continue lying low here. Returning quickly to report and letting the Hokage know the situation sooner was the correct course of action.

Thinking this, Kagami nodded and said, "Okay, then we'll depart tomorrow."

"Mm, before we go, buy some specialty fruits or something to take back. Of course, it's not because I want to eat them, but to finish what we started properly. After all, we're 'itinerant merchants,' aren't we? If you're going to act, go all out!" Hibari instructed.

Kagami looked at Hibari with amusement, then said, "Alright, you're the Commander, you call the shots. But when we get back, I get half of those specialties."

Hibari grinned, a smile playing on his lips, and said, "No problem..."

At this point, he paused, then frowned, and continued, "Oh, right. Buy whatever else you want. Our mission funds are plentiful this time. We were originally supposed to stay here as 'merchants' for a long time. The Hokage gave us a very generous budget. If we go back now, we won't have this benefit."

Kagami was stunned, then said, "Hibari, if we do this... isn't it a bit corrupt?"

"Corrupt or not corrupt? I risked my life last night, prepared to 'leave no corpse behind' to get the job done. Isn't that enough to enjoy 'high welfare'?" Hibari said self-righteously.

Kagami thought for a moment, then nodded and said, "You're right. When I set the fire, I was also prepared to 'leave no corpse behind,' wanting to forcefully extract you. We really should raise our benefits."

"Exactly! You listen to me; I'm right. Let's buy two houses here in Kumogakure. In the future, we can hire people to open a shop or something to do business. Not only can it make money, but it can also become a 'secret outpost.' In the future, it might even provide convenience for our other comrades in the village. Sigh, I truly have foresight and worry for the nation and its people. Tell me, is what I'm doing corruption? I'm practically noble!" Hibari patted his chest, speaking shamelessly.

Then, the two 'corrupt' individuals colluded, chattering about many things they would buy in Kumogakure tomorrow, such as houses, seemingly planning to settle down there.

After a long while, Hibari yawned and said, "I've been busy all night. I just fell asleep not long ago and you woke me up. Now I'm sleepy again. I'll sleep a bit more..."

Just as he was about to lie down, Kagami grabbed him and said, "Wait, there's still something we haven't clarified..."

Hibari asked, somewhat puzzled, "What is it?"

"Stop pretending! I don't believe you went in there without stuffing some private goods into your pockets. We agreed earlier that any benefits, you have to save some for me. Don't drag your feet; hurry up and share. After all, we're comrades who've faced life and death together, aren't we?" Kagami said bluntly.

"I've noticed, ever since you joined the Anbu, you've become increasingly shameless. I used to hear Tobirama-jiisan say you were upright, broad-minded, capable of embracing the entire village, and didn't care about the gains or losses of a single family or clan. Now, how have you become like this? You're even eyeing my meager profits and won't let go. Don't you feel ashamed?" Hibari said, somewhat annoyed.

"When you spend a long time with someone, you naturally pick up some bad habits. Think about your actions; do they reflect the magnanimity a young master of the Senju clan should have? You know it's meager profit, so why aren't you sharing it quickly? What are you hiding?" Kagami said without a hint of guilt.

"Fine, then I'll open your eyes..." Hibari said with a helpless smile, then reached for another scroll from his waist and threw it to Kagami.

In fact, Hibari hadn't intended to keep everything to himself, which was why he so readily gave the item to Kagami.

Kagami was also very curious at this moment. Hibari, like him, came from a prestigious family, and Hibari's status in the Senju clan was even higher than his in the Uchiha clan. Therefore, Hibari's standards must be very high. He probably wouldn't even care about ordinary things, so anything he brought out must be good treasure.

Thinking this, Kagami quickly unrolled the scroll and began to read it.

"You copied ninjutsu? B-rank? You actually care about this? I thought you'd at least be eyeing S-rank or forbidden jutsu..." Kagami casually said after a brief glance.

"You should take a closer look before you speak," Hibari said with a smug tone.

Hearing Hibari's words, Kagami looked at the scroll again, and his expression grew increasingly surprised. After a long while, he finished reading the densely written scroll and said in great shock, "Hibari, you bastard, did you steal the Raikage's legacy?"

"What do you mean 'steal'? I just 'copied' it; the real legacy is still in his house. We're close, but if you talk nonsense like that, I'll sue you for defamation!" Hibari glared at Kagami.

"Lightning Release Chakra Mode... Liger Bomb, Nukite series, Lightning Release: Lariat, Lightning Rage Horizontal... These are all things that even Kumogakure's elite shinobi aren't allowed to learn, and you just took them all?" Kagami said in disbelief.

"Hahahaha, from now on, these won't be exclusive to the Raikage anymore. If you want to learn them, you can! If I'm in a good mood someday, I'll donate these to the Ninja Academy..." Hibari said with a hearty laugh.

"Then you'll just be chased by the people of Kumogakure forever..." Kagami said with a smile.

However, he also knew that Hibari was probably joking. After all, this kind of thing truly couldn't be spread carelessly; otherwise, it would genuinely enrage Kumogakure, and it wouldn't be impossible for another war to break out.

After some lighthearted banter, Kagami asked, "Then what the hell is this last 'Living Body Secret Technique'? I don't quite understand it..."

Hibari's expression turned serious upon hearing this. He said, "Just read that yourself. Under no circumstances can it be leaked. Furthermore, it's an extremely incomplete technique. Learning it could lead to death, so don't mess around with it."

Seeing Hibari speak so formally, Kagami's expression also became serious. He said, "Don't worry, I know my limits..."

At this point, he smiled again and said, "I don't have much interest in Lightning Release anyway, and I might not even learn these other things. But you, you've hit the jackpot."

"Hahahaha, maybe one day, I'll even return to Kumogakure and guest-star as the Raikage myself," Hibari said with a hearty laugh.
