Love, to Alexei, was a strange emotion.
He had received it in a bountiful amount. Even more than what people received in their entire lifetime.
From his elders, his peers, his buddies.
Though that love wasn't always so pure and often came with the hint of worldly bitterness, Alexei had enjoyed it.
Still, he had experienced many kind of love—emotional, physical, and everything in between.
Only romantic love was missing from the list.
He never understood why people could bind themselves to one person.
Yet here he was staring at Elijah, thoroughly enjoying how innocent his baby was to tease.
He forcefully pulled his lips down.
"I bought your medicine too. It is still in my drawer. All the way, I was so anxious, thinking that you were in pain and I couldn't afford to delay even a second."
He inched toward the boy who was lowering his head.
It was as if Elijah were a child getting scolded by his elders. Every word he said made those dense lashes quiver.
How cute, he thought.
