Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Shrine of Light

About ten days later, Artoria, who had been busy and on guard, finally found a good opportunity to openly walk into the deep mountains and old forests.

This would be the village's last resource gathering before the rainy season: including hunting, logging, and even collecting various herbs... in short, to gather all possible resources as much as possible to get through the disaster that would come at an unknown time.

Artoria entered the mountain forest with the villagers, then snuck away on a winding path, heading quickly for the dangerous deep mountains—she hadn't seen that young dragon for nearly half a month!

"I wonder if it misses me?"

"Are the injuries it got before better?"

"The rainy season is coming... is its food supply sufficient? Will it go hungry?"

With a stomach full of questions, the blonde girl quickly ran towards the cliff.

—But this time, she didn't need to climb that towering cliff.

"Hm?"

When she turned a narrow rock wall that could only accommodate one person and came to a relatively gentle hillside, a "building" that had suddenly appeared here immediately attracted all her attention.

On the originally empty grassland, a pure white "fortress" had suddenly appeared. The area of this fortress was not very large, the internal space was only the size of a basketball court—but looking at this strange white fortress, a very strange feeling suddenly rose in Artoria's heart: this building, built with square marbles, was simple and unadorned, yet square and upright, filled with a solemn and sacred atmosphere, and an indescribable sense of solemnity.

And the next moment, when she walked into this pure white building with a curious and exploratory mood, she found that the young dragon she had been thinking about was now lying on a tall stone, sleeping soundly.

"This child, has he been busy with these things these past few days?"

"Where did he get these stones?"

Looking at the young dragon curled up sleeping on the huge stone, Artoria, while feeling joy, also felt very curious—marbles of this specification, no matter how you looked at it, didn't seem like something it had just picked up in the deep mountains.

"If I can find out the origin of these stones... perhaps we can face this year's rainy season with a more relaxed attitude."

The girl's emotions temporarily disappeared, and the king's thoughts immediately took over. As the only candidate for the King of Britain, Artoria almost immediately realized the role of these marbles: compared to this young dragon who had built its nest on a cliff, the humans living on the land clearly needed this kind of solid stone material more.

But—

"Awu?"

When the gradually waking young dragon let out a slightly confused, but then very happy cry,

"Mhm, I'm here, I've come to see you!"

The king who had just been thinking rationally, in the blink of an eye, turned into a joyful girl—the young dragon's cry was like some kind of magic, making her immediately forget those things that she shouldn't "remember" here.

Yes, that's right. This was a domain that belonged exclusively to dragons. Human affairs had nothing to do with this domain.

...

The awakened young dragon quickly flew in front of Artoria. It circled above the girl's head, from time to time letting out high-pitched or excited cries. Artoria could understand what this little guy meant:

"Hey, you finally came to see me, I missed you so much!"

"How have you been these past few days? Have you eaten enough?"

"These past few days I've hunted many, many magical beasts—especially a big wild boar that can breathe fire!"

"See this building? I made it! Aren't I amazing?"

"But I don't know why... this building seems to be missing something, and I can't finish it. I don't know what it is."

"I've thrown away all the old food, but I dug a pond behind this building and raised some fish in it. Let's have grilled fish later!"

These were the ramblings from the young dragon, covering all of its life in the recent period. Artoria, with a rather gratified mood, looked at this young dragon who, although she hadn't seen it for a few days, was still in a very full spiritual state, and quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

It seemed she had worried too much.

—Even without her, this young dragon could live very well, and even find its own fun.

But, then again.

"Missing something?"

After being reminded by the young dragon, Artoria also suddenly noticed that a very strange sense of incongruity had suddenly appeared in this building. It was a very strange, very abrupt sense of incongruity.

Clearly, when she walked into this building, this sense of incongruity did not exist!

"Strange? What on earth is different?"

Artoria subconsciously looked at the stone pillar in front of her—she suddenly felt that the top of that stone pillar was a bit abrupt, there should be something placed on it! But what was that thing?

Artoria looked up at the empty stone pillar. Then she turned her head and looked at the young dragon that was constantly circling her body, as if it had infinite energy. Suddenly, she realized something.

"Little dragon."

"Awu?"

"You fly up to that stone pillar and strike a fierce pose."

"Yes, just like that."

...

Artoria came to the outside of the fortress. She found the last square marble that she didn't know where it should be placed and raised her longsword at it.

Active and sharp wind elements were condensed on that longsword by her. Exquisite swordsmanship was displayed in her hands, but at this moment, the role of this swordsmanship was no longer to kill enemies, but to carve a true work of art.

She closed her eyes and recalled the posture of the young dragon in her mind. The sword in her hand quickly slid across the marble—in front of this sword attached with the wind element, the solid marble was like a piece of clay, and a large piece was easily shaved off.

Artoria continued to wave the longsword in her hand. Large and small rubble continuously fell off, and a complete outline gradually appeared in front of the young dragon. Dragon head, dragon tail, dragon wings, dragon claws.

Under Artoria's exquisite design, a 1:1 replica of the young dragon's statue appeared before it. And when the young dragon tried to move this statue, which was made with it as a blueprint, to that stone pillar,

"Shua—"

A magical, no, it should be said, a mysterious scene, instantly appeared. A dazzling white light bloomed from the statue, followed by a "rumbling" sound—this toy fortress, which was originally just built with blocks of marble like building blocks and had no stability at all, now seemed to be connected to the whole earth, becoming impregnable, even directly merging with the surrounding mountains.

[Ding, congratulations on completing the mini-game: Building Blocks.]

[After some hard work, you have successfully built the building: Shrine of Light.]
