ASHER
The car door opens, pulling me out of my light sleep. A man in a suit stands outside and gives a polite nod to us.
"Welcome back, sir."
I step out and glance at my brother Kaleb. He's already walking ahead on the old cobbled street, his expression calm. I think "welcome back, sir" is quite a stretch for a twenty-one-year-old.
Only a few streetlights glow in the narrow alley. This part of the island is quiet... but the perfect hiding place for people who live like Kaleb and need to lay low after the day's hustle.
The club's bouncer sees us and gives a small bow. No questions asked. Just a respectful nod, like we're royalty.
Kaleb and I are the youngest people allowed in here—but also the most dangerous.
The most wanted. I'm almost sure a bounty might be on his head.
"Did my food show up today?" Kaleb asks, his voice sharp with cruelty.
He always refers to his victims as food. He enjoys this kind of thing. Hurting people.
Me? I don't enjoy it.
