Mr Antonio's POV
"Mr Antonio I…." Luis began but stopped when he entered in on us.
I immediately stood up from where I sat and hurried to the door in order to restrict Luis from entering further. The man was also on alert and put on his mask quickly.
"What are you doing here Luis?" I asked. "Weren't you supposed to have left an hour ago?"
"Yes sir, but I forgot to mention something to you so I came back," Luis said. He was shooting glances at the man in my office and I feared that he might recognise the man.
"Can we please talk later…." I told Luis before the man interrupted.
"Antonio, I should get going, we'll talk next time," the man said with a disguised voice and he walked right past us and out of my office. At least, he was finally gone.
"Come in Luis," I said, when the man was finally gone. He came in but refused to sit down because he was in a hurry.
"Sir, I just came to tell you that despite Diego waiting for Mr Delgado, the latter did not show up," Luis explained.
"I don't know anything about Mr Delgado, I only told Diego to meet with him because Mr Delgado pleaded that he had an offer which Diego would be interested in, I lied. "If he didn't show up, then I don't know the reason."
Sooner or later, they would know who Mr Delgado is but by then, I hope it will be too late for them to do anything about it.
"It's alright sir, I just wanted to inform you that he didn't later show up," Luis said and turned to leave.
"Luis!" I called and he turned back. "Do you perhaps know the man that just left now?" I asked. I needed to be sure that he knew nothing about him.
"No sir, I don't have any idea of who he is," Luis replied. I was instantly relieved.
"Why do you ask sir? Did he say that he knew me?"
As I was about to reply to him, his phone began buzzing in his pocket and he brought it out and answered the call.
"Please tell him that I'll be there soon," Luis told the person on the other end of the line after the person said something to him. He cut the call and rushed out of my office, telling me goodbye.
Adriana's POV
Growl! My stomach rumbled as I lay down on the bed. Since morning, I had not eaten anything nor taken water. It was like I was fasting on my own accord.
I remembered that I had prescriptions to take and that was when my stomach rumbled loudly as if urging me to eat quickly before it cries.
I removed the duvet I used to cover myself with when I ran into my room earlier and I got down from the bed.
As I reached my bedroom door, I paused.
"What if he was still lurking around, waiting for me to come out? "What if he instructed his men to hold me and bring me to him when I come out?"
All these thoughts rushed in my head but the rumbling of my stomach ceased all thoughts I had and I had to go out of my room to find something to eat.
I slowly opened the door and looked around the hallway to see if Diego or his men were there. To my satisfaction, Diego was not in sight and his men were no longer in that position they stood. They had left.
I hurriedly went downstairs and into the kitchen. "Excuse me ma, please is there food available for me to eat?" I asked the female middle aged chef who was tidying up the kitchen. " I am really famished."
"Sure there, there is enough food for you to eat and I even warmed it for you whenever you were ready to eat," she replied with a bright smile. I felt touched.
"Thank you ma, I really appreciate it," I said. She patted me on my shoulder and smiled more. Then, she dished my food, used another plate to cover it and handed it to me. She also dished another plate of food, did the same thing, put it on a tray and handed it to me.
I was confused.
"Ma please, who is this other plate for?" I asked.
"It is for Diego dear, he was supposed to come down to eat but hasn't come yet so I thought you should go give it to him," she explained.
My mood changed instantly. " How was I going to give this to him myself?" I asked myself.
I didn't want to refuse the woman so I agreed to take the food to Diego. "Ok ma, thank you," I said with a faint smile and left the kitchen.
I went upstairs and headed straight for my room first. I dropped my plate on a table near my bed then I took Diego's own and headed for his room.
With each step I took, my hands were slightly shaking but I managed to stay calm. I went into his study but found that no one was there so I began to head towards his bedroom.
"Excuse me Diego," I said as I reached his room door but no one replied to me. I knocked on the door but there was no response. I then opened the door and went into his bedroom, shutting the door quietly behind me.
I went closer to his bed and dropped the food on the side table. As I turned to leave, I recalled how I pressed his injury really hard and I paused and turned back to take a look at the injury.
Just as I bent down and folded the hand of his short sleeved shirt to take a look at his shoulder, Diego held my wrist and I froze in shock.
